Liquipedia Brood War apparently has more than 3,000 articles. Some of which are great, others are not so good. One thing that annoyed me personally is the huge mass of pages about Korean players you never heard of, unless you're some obscure super insider. Today I made the mistake and brought it to Salle's attention, meant as a joke. He suggested I re-categorize them and ask the forum for help. Here it is. (yes, the underlined things are links)
Category I: Total No-Names
There are "two" different categories. The first one are more or less blank profiles, some of which have links to the TLPD database, but no records other than their nick, their birth date and/or their ex-team. If you know anything about them, feel free to write something.
Category II: Player Stubs
In this category not only Koreans are listed, but let's focus on them. There are tons of players which in theory belong in category 1; however, they do have some (1 - 20) games in TLPD. Hence different category.
It might be good if some of you, especially the SOSPA fanatics, would browse around here and check for the SOSPA stars. Players like Terror, Ample, Mong and so on have no information at all. It's daft. Even ex-KeSPA players have bad pages. Go and edit people.
Edit: I forgot. Questions, answers and so on can also always be asked - just contact Salle, the master of Liquipedia. Or go to #liquipedia @q-net in IRC!

This is for the SOSPA Scene, alongside Korean pro BW right?
|
I should have added the warning: Salle passive aggressively forced me to re-arrange the articles and I did 500+ edits today, so whatever I write now might not make a lot of sense.
Any article (player) listed in one of the two categories needs work. A lot of it. Click a random profile in category #1 and you see what I mean. The pages are completely empty, they have an infobox and that's it. Any kind of information for any page listed in one of the two categories might help out a lot. I added the SOSPA part, because there are hundreds of SOSPA topics and a good coverage of SOSPA tournaments on Liquipedia / the BW Forums, yet nothing on the players.
TL;DR: Yes, it's also about SOSPA players.

How did I passively aggressively do that?

You mentioned something could be done about these empty pages.

I'll look through some of category I and see if I can add anything

Can we have Kal and Bogus get their BW nickname back for BW TLPD, please?
|
that's a pretty good attempt. Liquipedia certainly needs some polishing.

If you want some context as to why this is the way it is, a very long time ago everyone who had a TLPD page got a Liquipedia page for Brood War. This included the random people who played in preliminaries, but it also reduced work for making the more obvious pages.
If people do know more about the stub article players, please feel free to add to those pages.

unfortunately if its changed on bw, it changes on the other databases and people would be confused sadly.

Talking about confusing. I doubt many BW fans know their SC2 IDs. Right now if I search Kal on BW (Korea) TLPD he isn't even to be found in the search results. (For Bogus it does show.) If the name can't be changed, can a 'Kal' search at least show his new name in the search results please?
Sorry for being slightly off topic.

'Kal' is listed in the akas list for Jila, so it will definitely show up in the results.

Only when you *View (all) specific results* Jila will show up.
Is there a way to make a 'Kal' search show Jila as first option and not whatever random [Kal] member to minimize confusion?

It does show up, amongst all players who played for clan [Kal], but that's irrelevant because even if the main TLPD was Kal instead of Jila we would still have exactly the same issue.

I've never encountered this issue when searching for Kal in the past (before SC2 TLPD and/or his name change.) So it seems to be an issue created that wasn't there before. Either way... What I'm asking - for him to show up as first result - shouldn't be too hard to realise, I imagine. Since I'm already told the names can't be changed back.

Unfortunately I don't know enough about the Brood War era to be very helpful in this project, but I thought I'd plug my one major LP1 contribution, the KeSPA draft page: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/KeSPA_Rookie_Draft. This might be a helpful source of information about some of these obscure players.

i might add that a decent amount of Foreigners and relativly well known koreans are also represented in second section Gecko linked. You might as well take a look if you can add some stuff. I was sure, for instance i had no clue about those players but found some stubs of foreigners, where i could add a sentence or two.

Remember too that if there are sources for what you add, it would be mighty helpful.

<ref>[http://your.url reference caption]</ref> will create an entry assuming the page has a reference section. If not, please add
==References== {{Reflist}}
at the bottom of the page. Reflist is a template that will be replace by a list of all references found in the page.
