hi, i have a few questions about broodwar modding: using mainly datedit 1.5, icecc and firegraft .93
1- avoid crashed while adding a scripts\iscript.bin and rez\stat_txt.tlb to the same .mpq
2-how to make a nonworker unit to build (or at lest summon via spell) a building. i got to the point in which i had the building in said unit button set, i could click it, see the building preview, but when i click it to begin construction, the unit wouldn't build it
3- im trying to make a building that generates an addon, thing it does, but when i destroy the original building, the game crashes if it has the addon
4- is it possible to hatch 3 units from an egg?
5- is it possible to make units to shoot from a transport ? (i wanted to make a (flying bunker but that wasn't going to happen)
6- im trying to make a turret that works like the carrier, when i add "can produce subunits" in the button that is supposed to produce them, ingame it loses the button, if i take away "can produce subunits", the button shows ingame but does nothing
7-making a unit morph, i edited the buttons and such, and even if i try it with a unit that already morphs into other thing (hydralik for example), it's still unable to (although i would like it to work with a unit that doesn't morph in the normal game)

I'd recommend posting over here: www.staredit.net It's all things bw mapmaking/modding/etc. just not melee. To be fair, it's not too active of a site anymore (probably especially the modding section) but it's better than trying to post here.

It's pretty easy to rename units/buildings, just go to the Campagin editor and rename the units. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

You're asking for a unit that isn't a Probe/Drone/SCV to construct a building, but then you say when you click it to begin construction, the unit would build it. So you basically figured out your problem? lol...\

Also, a "using the search function" could always work. I just typed "mod" with BW General in Title and Content Only selection and the exact links Kau provided was there as well. So y'know... You could do that too instead of asking poorly worded questions.

Just ignore sync, he's just being a douche for some reason. When making mods, no you do not use the campaign editor. Heck, no one uses the campaign editor for anything, if you wanted to make maps the most common program is scmdraft2.
I do not know much of anything about modding, I was once upon a time a mapmaker so I know that much. What sync is saying about the eggs, once again, not a mod. Sure, it's possible to use triggers to replace units that hatch from eggs in a map, but it's really not what you're asking.
Apart from anything else, can't really help.

no, what i said was that i was able to give a nonworker a building button, that was able to set a preview of the building (choosing where to place it) but when i click to place it, nothing would happen.

He's asking about MODDING. Not MAPMAKING. Learn the difference before you start pontificating your nonsense.
There's not a lot of resources on modding, and if there are they're pretty old. If the guy's just getting started with it this place is probably his best bet for getting answers. So stop acting like a douche, the bw community is dead enough as it is. No need to scare away people.

There are heaps of resources on modding Brood War at StarEdit.Net, and modcrafters.net if it's still up. There's also some guys at BWAI (Brood War AI) who know a lot about it. SEN (StarEdit.Net) and BWAI are the most active communities, they're not as active as they once were but plenty of knowledgeable people still hang out there.
I'll let the SEN guys know about the registration problem, until then have a poke around the wiki there and at modcrafters, there's lots of good information there about what tools to use.
