Or a rich Arabian prince like what happened in the Age of Empires 2 scene.

His identity is actually just a rumor, but the basic gist is that a sponsor who has been organizing many previous AoE2 tournaments has recently organized a $120,000 prize pool tournament. So basically anything can happen when a rich guy is generous enough.

Of course, can't compare the two games or anything since I enjoyed both and I'm sure community size is much different (bigger there I think) but was hoping that we would've gotten a lot more posts in this thread seeing its content.

unlike AoE, the pinnacle of scBW are still concentrated in Korea, so i would think this tourney has gathered plenty of hype in korea at least?

Only thing more awesome would be Soulkey, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. I believe there were rumours starting last week that Soulkey would be retiring and would start streaming on afreeca. Same with hOn_sin. Could be possible. I really can't imagine that SKT, possibly the richest of the KeSPA teams, would let either of that happen. If those two leave in addition to the already confirmed leaving of Rain, Parting, and Fantasy, who does SKT really have left? Paralyze, soO, Classic, and a bunch of B-teamers/no-namers are what's left. Unless SKT is going for a bigger shakeup, I would think that they would fight hard to retain the players they have left. And it looks like the rumors of RorO possibly retiring aren't as solid anymore http://gyazo.com/1e3b46ae9a6ff5247696ed86484e1164 But then again, remember when people thought STX and Woongjin were going to do fine? And now look at PianO, ZerO, Mini and Last. Never underestimate how fragile the Korean SC2 scene actually is, I say.
Yes but the Korean SC2 scene is thankfully growing for the first time since like forever. It's small growth but at least it's in the right direction. There's actually more teams joining Proleague this year than quitting. StarTale and Prime have both secured a nice new sponsor.
SKT1 are totally fine. They are about to sign INnoVation, not exactly the signing you'd make if you're struggling financially.
There is even rumour of OSL returning which stem from the return of OGN's Star Hangshow.

would be really disappointing if the sponsor is just a rich person.. but from reading lovetv posts it doesnt seem like its just one rich person investing..
