You need to configure scaling options using the graphics utility program provided for your gpu

However this is not an ideal solution because it doesn't change the aspect ratio on a per program basis.

However this is not an ideal solution because it doesn't change the aspect ratio on a per program basis. That's typical of CRT's, not so much of newer monitors (basically once you move away from VGA inputs that stops being a thing). Most newer monitors that allow configuration of this just have a scaling option, which would thus have no effect on anything that actually matched the monitor's native resolution.

Must have been a long time since I've used those buttons or my monitor keeps it that way.

Any ideas? everything was fine before ( i had windows 8.1) thank you Are you using W-Mode with 2x resolution and CPU throttling enabled? btw this isn't the appropriate thread for your issue, you should have posted in the mca64Launcher thread instead.

The workaround recommended for Worms: Armageddon fixed my framerate and lag issues in Starcraft. Registry file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 With this change, I don't need any kind of ddraw replacement or wrapper, nor running starcraft.exe with ddemulate, to have acceptable FPS. Still trying to get Chaoslauncher to not crash after a few seconds... maybe it's finally time for me to move to a more modern launcher

You can just delete the registry key to revert to whatever compat flags Windows decides to use by default: win+r, regedit, browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

Sorry about that, I was just on my way back here to say that I celebrated too quickly, that compat flag actually does exactly the same thing as the ddemulate command-line switch, including messing up the battle.net menus. Sorry! Reg file to revert the change back to defaults (by deleting the entry) looks like this: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 Chaoslauncher crashing seems to have been caused by the CPU Savior plugin. Disabled that and things have been stable. Enabled the built-in CPU throttling in its place for now.

Windows 10 isn't to blame for any performance issues, there's likely something else causing it. It seems to be well-documented that there is a change to DirectDraw starting in Windows 8 that does cause performance drops in games that use it. Note that I'm coming from Windows 7, I skipped 8 and 8.1 altogether.
But don't get me wrong - I would be happy to be proven wrong about this! You should describe your problem in more detail too Poor framerate is the beginning and end of it. BW runs at what looks like (haven't measured) 15 or 20 FPS, too slowly to control properly. are there any performance issues when launching BW without any tools/launchers? Yes. When does the performance drop? In game? At all times, it's visible starting from the main menu. Have you tried toggling the CPU Throttling and Color Cycling options? CPU Throttling didn't change anything. I have not tried Color Cycling, will check that next. Thanks for the suggestion. In case it matters, my video card is "Intel Integrated Graphics 4500MHD".
