When I start it up it freezes on loading screen with the music looping, and the colours are a bit out of whack (Blue everywhere). Am running win7 ultimate 32 bit. Have a feeling the crashing could be the disc, but the colours I think are another issue. Cheers. I have never experienced this with BW for more than 6years of using various versions of CD. Please check if you installed it properly and that other games run without problem on you machine. It may be a hardware issue, some exotic video card?

If you're not unwilling to try something then do the following: 1) Open the task manager 2) Kill the process "explorer.exe" before you start SC:BW ( --> this will kill the Windows Desktop and the AERO surface - don't worry you can get it back running later on ) 3) Start SC:BW via the "run" command available in the task manager ( you must know the path to your executable to do that, example: "C:\Programs\Starcraft\starcraft.exe" ) 4) Either close the task manager or leave it open - doesn't matter 5) Play ( if it doesn't crash that is ) 6) Once you close the game and are done playing, execute another "run" command. Simply type "explorer.exe" ( no path necessary ) and the Windows desktop should come back up. This should fix your colour issue. Works like a charm everytime I run SC:BW.

Hey man thanks a bunch, this worked. I am still getting the crashes on load screen but I think that is just because the disc is really old and isn't exactly in great condition.

You don't need your CD anymore Make sure you have "Hide extensions for known types" unchecked under Explorer Folder Options. If you own only StarCraft, copy "INSTALL.EXE" from the StarCraft CD to your StarCraft folder and rename it to "StarCraft.mpq". If you own StarCraft: Brood War, copy "INSTALL.EXE" from the StarCraft: Brood War CD to your StarCraft folder and rename it to "BroodWar.mpq".

You're welcome, glad I could help you a bit with that Relating to the crash, I have no idea what your problem could be because I never had anything like that happen to me. However I do hope you get it fixed soon(tm), good luck!
