Earlier this month you might remember I shared some of the best and most memorable games from the early days of OSL and MSL. But besides those gems you can also see the other end of the spectrum; games with even worse gg timings than Fantasy, and huge blunders, which probably every Brood War player has done someday in their gaming life. The following list of bad mistakes might make you feel that you could have been a progamer, if only you had started early enough. But that is not to say the players were the only ones who blundered in the early days.

2 Gate in base vs 9 Pool speed should be easy to hold. Watch what happens if you do not block your ramp.

If you think ZvZ nowadays is boring, you never watched the staple ZvZs from the early days where it was common to not leave the game until you mined out on 1 base even if the game was over a long time ago.

One of the rare Terran games in the pre-Boxer era. As you will see, this Random player is unable to hold a 9 Pool speed, even though he opens with 2 Barracks and sees the first Lings going to the wrong location first.

Grrrr... gets pretty much a build order win with his proxy 2 Gate versus a Gas and Hatchery before Pool only to miss the direction of where the Overlord comes from and thus miss the starting location.

Apparently Mech openings were unseen in ZvT as GoRush fails to react in any kind to the scouted Factories and the imminent Vulture runby, despite them taking a break killing some Zerglings.

Having successfully Bunker rushed the high ground on Bifrost. Sync manages to lose, because he does not know how to wall nor how to multitask.

Were you ever annoyed by an early Probe in your base killing your workers? Yellow knows that feeling well. But in return Reach doesn't like anti-air too much and proceeds to lose to Mutas.

The how not to react to a small harrassment by using your entire army.

Maps from the early days had the occasional unintentional abusive quirks, like open single spaces behind a base you could use for drops. But on the map Legacy of Char the map makers outdid themselves by creating a second entrance to the natural without noticing it and this is fully exploited by JinNam in this game.

This game shows that the observer could also fail big time. In the midgame, it seems like it is completely over for Protoss as he has a hard time breaking out of a Lurker contain while Zerg has 5 bases. Then the observer casually swings over to the Zerg main to show a completely wrecked base.
