But as a player, Pangshai's guide is very helpful =) the guide has a lot of useful information, but unfortunately doesnt offer any insight in this particular question. he says the following on the ctrl click: By comparison, if you were to use control + left click on a unit, 12 rines are randomly selected. although it's not random, there's some logic behind it because you can replicate the results Similarly with zerg, say the scenario is you just exchanged your army with the terran but have macroed up this army during the battle. You want to group it with lings into separate groups from the lurkers. The problem with control left clicking a ling here is that the 12 lings will be randomly selected from the screen -- not particularly ideal, with lings getting trapped between other units or getting repetitions etc. this is the problem that i have, but if we can solve the ctrl click logic it won't be an issue, because we can ctrl click the correct unit to not have it happen

Draw box around outside of clumped army, ctrl-click marine icon. As opposed to just ctrl-clicking the marine and getting a random selection, at least the selection is limited to the boxed region and the selection can be somewhat less random. With regards to your particular question i have no other answer.

With regards to your particular question i have no other answer. right that's the traditional solution, but if i could find a ling group to ctrl click then box the rest, it would be much faster (and avoid drones/defilers/scourge)

Freakling believes that resources gathering is affected by this. http://www.panschk.de/mappage/newsscript/viewarticle.php?newsid=35 It may be a related phenomenon. It may be drivel. edit: reading his post, it's genuinely not clear why he believes the coordinates must the issue, just that he knows relative positioning of minerals and gas doesn't appear reliable, and coordinates must have been his only guess.
