I thought it'd be cool if you could chat in IRC while pretending to be chatting in the old battle.net, so I made this. I read somewhere on the internet that some of you liked Brood War, so I figured I'd share it here in case some people found it appealing.
Download
You can select between Diablo, StarCraft, Warcraft II, and Diablo II.
Most of the old bnet commands you remember will work.
You can out the source project here.
Obviously, I picked an excellent time to work on this, in light of the rise of Discord. lol. Maybe one day I could make a similar thing for that.

"False positive on some virus scanners."
So what is causing the false positives? Scary download of the day. Will pass.

Tested it. It runs fine. I didn't receive any virus warning (with Avira).

1st post with "false-positive" program and 1st post vouching for it? Yeah I wouldn't advise any1 dling this unless the source is released and you can build from it

No idea really. I was just getting them AVG (haven't tested others). I've looked into it a bit and just figured it flags any executable it hasn't heard of before. The only dealing the program does with external data is reading/writing to the config and ignorelist. Maybe just the fact that it accesses those files causes AVG to freak out? I dunno.
This program is my first real foray into Visual C# so I don't know of there's some hidden settings somewhere that affect this.

This is actually pretty cool :d
Any chance of a screenshot of the Settings, or at least list of all the features it currently has? Like, does it support auto-run commands on startup/connecting to a server? I'm thinking of replacing mIRC with this, but I don't feel like installing it to test it out ^^
Also, how are the multiple channels handled?

Huh. Cool. Maybe a change happened just before releasing this version that made AVG ok with it? I hadn't gotten the alerts in a while but I assumed that was just because of the exception I made for it.

Added screens to the OP. You can connect on startup and have the client automatically identify you with your password if you want. One feature missing from those screens is the ability to toggle persistent ignoring, which is done with the /ignorepersist command in chat.
Also there's no Installation process. It just runs!
Currently, multiple channels... are not handled. I had left it out since I had trouble coming up with a way to elegantly work it into the interface, and it's just not something I personally use anyway. But that's not to say I'm ruling it out for future updates.

Just put out a new version, that fixes and improves things:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patch 0.03 --------------------------------------------------------------------------
- SpawnChat now uses a new banner ad system. You can disable it in the Settings menu.
- The chat screen will now only scroll to the end if it's already there when a message appears.
This removes the annoyance of trying to catch up on conversations.
- Messages you enter will now display your current nick,
rather than the nick you connected with.
- The client now correctly responds to VERSION requests.
- Fixed a crash that occured when a user gained or lost voice mode.

Big update!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patch 0.10 --------------------------------------------------------------------------
- SpawnChat is now on GitHub. Check it out at https://github.com/jmanderley/spawnchat
- A Diablo II client is now selectable.
- Newly available commands: /disconnect (/dc), /reconnect (/rc)
- Selecting a user in the list who is already selected will now deselect them.
- Error windows will now always show on top.
