Hi, I'm familiar with TeamLiquid but I am announcing this on behalf of Fish Server, and I don't want any hate thrown towards me so this is on a secondary account dedicated specifically to important announcements. To respect TeamLiquid's account creation rule, I will not be replying to this thread and this will only be for extremely important announcements that have otherwise failed to circulate, such as this one.If you need assistance, privately message me.
This is a short but detailed list of foreign etiquette, which must be respected. If you fail to respect these points, you will not have a good time:
- If you go on the Fish Server website you might have noticed the CAPTCHA. This only applies to foreign IP addresses and this is because shortly after the recent ladder changes, we received DDoS attacks from several sources. If you don't like the changes, you need to message the Fish staff or make a community forum post and let people know what's wrong and why you don't like it. The Fish staff can whitelist your IP if you visit the site enough for it to be a nuisance.
- If you lave LAG, STOP PLAYING. This hurts the entire foreign community as over 90% of lag reports are directed towards foreigners, the majority being from Peru. If you are from a nation that lags a lot on Fish there is absolutely no excuse for it and you should stop playing. Korean players do not understand or care why you are lagging. Check that you have properly port forwarded 6112, make sure you don't go in lobbies with a latency tag below #L2, and download the unofficial Fish pack by clicking here.
- The Fish staff understand why people don't want to learn Korean, and it is understandable, but take a few hours to learn Hangul and learn some basic words. Fish is open to all but it is a Korean server targeted towards Korean players. Show a bit of respect towards the community by taking the time to learn the Fish language. You wouldn't travel to Japan without at least learning the very basics, would you?
- Last but not least, and it's sad this has to be mentioned, please respect the players in-game. Floating your buildings into corners or otherwise exploiting the loss mechanics to intentionally drag the game on is very disrespectful, and the top foreign Zerg player is currently under analysis for this. Consistent disrespect towards players in Korean or English is not a direct offense, but puts you at risk of being banned or suspended. Everybody gets angry, but that is no longer an excuse when you reach a certain point.
As stated in the beginning, I must respect TeamLiquid's account creation policy and I will not be replying to this. If you need help, privately message me.
Thank you for using Fish Server.

this sounds funny to say the least.

Or you could stop being racist pricks and allow people not able to understand korean to play on your server without any obstacles. Sure lag and disrespect is a thing, but it is not a foreigner exclussive thing. The koreans on your server are mostly racist and disrespectful and should learn some manners.
Edit: Also "you should learn hangul", when none of the koreans are even able to speak another language other than korean is pretty stupid. Maybe you should learn english instead like every other nation, too.

we got it, we are the aliens on korean playground, we should behave according korean empire rules. Thanks for the map pack at least you were useful somehow...

It's a good way to kill foreign community by making them not able to play in the biggest server.

I mean regardless, your posts are pretty shitty as well. You seem to always rag/flame anything Fish server related. Just let it go man.

Maybe you should learn english instead like every other nation, too. But why would they? What benefit do they have? There is 0 benefit for them. Koreans made a Korean server for Koreans to play on in Korean, who are you to tell them to change their policy? We are a minority that can't even be considered a vocal one because none of us speak Korean, lol. Basically, if you want to play on Fish, play by Fish rules. None of us have any sway or power to change the established order, we must conform or be ostracized.
I think it's just as if not more racist to tell 95+% of their server to learn English and allow English-speaking people in because of "muh privilege." Blaming it on Korea as a nation too, lol. They learn English from grade school, whether they choose to follow up on it is an individual choice I reckon. However, that still has nothing to do with them catering to a foreign minority.

Thanks for your post. It shows that you do care about us foreigners, but is it possible to whitelist foreigners for ladder play as well? I don't want to abuse the system and acquire a Korean phone number in a clandestine manner.
1. I don't lag.
2. I've learned hangul and am slowly trying to learn korean.
3. I am a respectful player.

3. I am a respectful player. Okay, I'll break the one rule I said I shouldn't to point this out, because it hasn't been made clear;
Phone verification is specifically to deter smurfs, and to be completely transparent with you guys we tried to get international phone verification but it required too much legal work and was way out of budget. It's tough to configure international verification. Doesn't matter how you get a phone number, and nobody can take it away but the person who gave it to you.

Thanks for the information, but nothing that shouldn't be obvious to anyone playing there.
@All the complainers When you're providing the infrastructure and 99% of the player base, why would you learn another language or provide support for some leeches from other countries that don't contribute anything besides playing for their own benefit? Korea is one of the most homogenous societies in the world, they have no reason to cater to foreigners or speak in English (besides in international business).

Not to sound rude but I don't think this post serves any purpose tbh. Overall, you're pretty much telling foreign players to play nice, be respectful and think of others when they play on Fish. Bonus points for learning korean since it'll make their experience that much better.

I question the legitimacy of OP actually and officially representing Fish server as a whole here as seemingly the nickname suggests. Judging by the wording of the post, it is not clear whether this is a person with another account represeting his views who made the decision to post this way on his own or is representing the whole Fish institution for real. I don't imagine people in charge in Fish gathering and then deciding that it was time to create an official TL id to address foreigner issues with having as a 1st post a bulletted list of demands as these. Not to mention how the list provides "foreign etiquiete" tips while in this very list the advice is for people from the "wrong" countries to stop playing altogether. Which is very ignorant as, for instance, people from Bulgaria and Korea with perfectly fine international internet connection can have signifcant lag in the Fish server. Basically any nation besides South Korea can easily fit the vaguely put criteria "If you are from a nation that lags a lot on Fish there is absolutely no excuse for it and you should stop playing.".
All in all this is a seriously insulting way to make a 1st post on behalf of the Fish server, even though I don't even play on Fish nowadays. Even more so considering the help the foreigner community is struggling to provide to the Korean community currently as seen here
If this gets verified and it's indeed official, I will offer my apologies, of course

I'm inclined to agree that I don't really see what purpose this serves. Has there been a spate of laggy and rude foreigners recently?
If you represent Fish in an official capacity, and this is an official PSA from Fish, please let TL admins know to clear this up. However, if you are going off on your own to 'speak on behalf of Fish' without their knowledge... don't.
I'm locking this for now. Please clarify in what capacity you represent Fish.
