In case folks didn't catch the end of the the ASL finals, or the brief mentions of it in the LR thread, Afreeca's CEO reiterated his/their support for BW and that season 2 would be held in December.
Good to hear Afreeca/Kongdoo/sponsors are holding up their word after announcing two Starleagues in 2016 at the conclusion of the VNSL!
that means they made enough money on this to see a future? Or that they saw the potential to make money with it soon? Or do you think it's just good will?

Considering that it had two sponsors it seems to work out i guess?
Increased Prize Pool and Size (bump back to 32 players)
Seed Top 8 into Ro32 instead of top 4 into Ro16
More dramatic camera work instead of having player's facecams on either side.(doom zooms!)
OGN like resource counter(for the newbs, it is helpful and doesn't take away much)
My reasoning for seeding top 8 instead of top 4 is simply because you basically remove all the good terrans from the prelims who'd qualify into the tournament anyway, leaving fewer spots for new and old faces. I do think this level of manipulation for a stacked tournament is necessary.
Sponsorship is advertising so they won't see the effects in the immediate future. So let's hope that there is a positive return down the line for KT, Jeju Air, Afreeca and Kongdoo. For now, I say just enjoy the fact they announced that they'll keep their promise.
P.S. Bring back Doom Zooms, Avalon and better Group Selection Ceremonies.

Definitely would like to see a resource/unit counter, or, if at least use the proper observer/map settings to show resources/unit count upon observer selection. Good idea about the 8 seeds enabling more spots -- those qualifiers are so tough and depend so much on lucky draws, so some really good players very likely were eliminated too early
I imagine the prize pool is tied to the number of participants, if the organizers open it up to 32 players, it'd probably have to be reflected by the prize pool, and vice versa.

LoveTV Starleague Season 3?
On June 05 2015 07:21 prech wrote: Thanks to jingyung2 --
LoveTV's announcement effectively cancelled Season 3 as we know it. She apologized, says she's sorry for the absence, and that she's been busy. In Dec 2014, the sponsor already said they would not sponsor the Starleague, so they were looking for a different sponsor all this time, but were unable to find one.
Can't reveal sponsor name due to the contract. Wants to post contract details for all to see as evidence, but worried about legal ramifications and damage to the sponsor's reputation if more information is revealed.
So all the Season 3 announcements have been wipe from her board

Come on man, you've been around long enough to know that asking questions of BW's future and commercial viability is pointless. All we can do is enjoy the BW, and we certainly can't guess if/how long it's going to last. Assume it'll last forever, and participate, and we're all winners really :D

I actually liked Taebaek Mountains a lot because it always produced some kind of crazy game. Overwatch wasn't bad...maybe a little on the bland side, but it led to some cool games too. I'll take something interesting in their stead, but I wouldn't really want a tournament played only on Circuit Breaker + Fighting Spirit :p.

I think 4 seeded players and 24 qualified players for the stage game is the most ideal rule. Therefore they can begin R24 to eliminate 12 players and then start R16 later.
They can still try R32, but i have a feeling that R32 will show us poor quality games. Therefore many audience will completely talk trash on game community website.
BTW, there are a lot of minor leagues(on/offline tournaments) out there. You can check on cafe.naver.com and cafe.naver.com
I just won yesterday for sc1 tour and met Shine as well(took a photo with him). After that I also won a lottery from that event(You can check on my stream what I won from it). + Show Spoiler +
He's secretly playing and planning to switch to sc1.

I like both maps, but I am wondering if keeping both will give more or less incentives to have new maps.
I feel it's highly unlikely they'll remove Fighting Spirit or Circuit Breaker anytime soon, so if new maps are to be introduced then one (if not both) of the newest maps will have to be replaced. Having said that, I feel 1 more season with Overwatch and TB Mountains would provide more stability on the professional scene, now that it is being re-established.

Exactly, on one hand that could possibly mean no new map will the added so it's pointless to make a new map now. On the other hand if you're a map maker and your map is being removed after only one season despite the very positive feedback you have every right to be disappointed. I guess the only solution is to remove "classic" maps, but it's not an easy decision given the love for Fighting Spirit.

In addition to that Fighting Spirit and Circuit Breaker have been around for so long they could work as a "beacon" for old timers trying to get back into competitive BW. I fear, though, leaving them might also create too much stagnation which would in turn repel potential viewers and players.
I'm not saying it can't, I'm just pointing out the outcome of such an action could be ambiguous in nature. From what I've heard most players have become fed up with FS, not sure about the opinion of the current Korean audience.
i love taebaek, it's such a ridiculous map but it's pretty fun sometimes. overwatch is meh imo, i agree with the sentiment to replace it with lamancha (another favorite of mine!). also, i feel like koreans hate taebaek because they never play it on fish..
If ASL is smart they will remove FS and CB from the map roster and announce and distribute the maps that they will use for next season asap. They'd also do good to fire Ragnarok[Valkyrie] imo.

omg, what if 424 is Shine?! :O
I can tell you that he binds all hatcheries at 5 and 2(this one i believe) for units in sc2. He got a second place in that minor tour. I was told to sit next to him because they have to mix sc2 players and sc1 players for R8.

They fucking better. Neo Neo Python is a garbage map and it's a travesty that it passed Destination for most games played.
Bring back Destination, original Outsider and original HBR (aka movietown) and I'm good.
I haven't really followed the scene that much the last few years, but ASL1 and the promise of more tournaments hyped me up.
Does anyone have a good explanation for the domination of Terran? Is it the maps? More crowded maps benefits Terran. Is it because terran is more structured and rigid and benefits when the strategies are more stagnant? Or were terran players more likely to stay loyal to BW because they were more likely to have personal traits that lines up with the terran philosophy? If I recall correctly, terran players were definately overrepresented among the kespa progamers who jumped ship on SC2 early on.
I was quite unimpressed by the TvP of Sharp and Last. Last seemed too scared and passive in the lategame. Was it a fluke? Shuttle was great, but I got the feeling that Shuttle were comfortable in control of most games, and that really shouldn't be happening. Sea and Flash must be better than that right?

Well Bisu wasn't in this tournament.
And BeSt/Effort wanted to play more "conventional" PvTs and ZvTs but then the opponents exploited some weird weak timing in their defense. The games they've lost can actually go both ways if the timings are even 2 seconds off.

In general, the maps have some effect on the imbalance, particularly Fighting Spirit, as has been well documented. Protoss and Zerg generally do a good deal better on, say, Circuit Breaker.
More than anything, there is such a small BW scene in terms of number of progamers (that manage to make a living through Afreeca donations), and there happen to be proportionately many more Terran than the other two races. Looking at the list of active/competitive Afreeca BJs, there are ~10-12 Terran versus only four Zerg and ~six-seven Protoss progamers.

add Avalon
Fix avalon first.
why fix whats perfect?
Maybe you should play on the map first before you make that comment.
maybe you should let the pure light of Avalon penetrate your putrid dark heart
I love Avalon, I have played a lot on this map, and I really enjoyed seeing it in the Sonic Starleague. But how come this map is so loved? What do you guys love about it ? I mean it's a really awesome map, but what is it that make you so loving it? Is it because it's a snow/ice map?
Maybe he likes it because of the vast space in the mains allowing you to build approximately 3 production facilities, or that it depends on the starting location if you want to wall in. The reason could also be that you cannot transfer workers directly to the adjacent 4th base locations from any of the the initial 3 bases in some cases without them getting stuck behind the temples. But what do I know, amazingxkcd arguments were so sound, I am probably off.

Slow down, Avalon has flaws but it doesn't mean it can't be tweaked or modified to fix gameplay problems. Also yeah, the mains are quite small so I used to build other stuff in the back expo.

On another note; having already accrued a few new sponsors for the league, do you think it's still too early to expect personal sponsorships to arise or teams to reform?

We'll have to see about enough funds for teams, but personal sponsorships are pretty common. Many Afreeca BJs have ads in the corners of their streams
