I have an issue while playing on Fish. I live in an apartment that does not have wired internet. So I must use Wifi. My desktop has a wifi card (Realtek 8821AE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E NIC) and I installed the latest drivers. My problem is that my ping to fish is very high (500-700) and there is a small stutter. Many opponents immediately leave because of this stutter.
However, if I play on my laptop using wifi and in the same location, my ping is only 150-200 and there is no lag and my opponents stay and play.
Is my PCI-E wifi card simply bad or is there something else I can do to have better ping? I am located in Thailand. Thank you!

500 - 700 ping is really too much. Somethings wrong with ur desktop. From Thailand it definitely shouldnt be more than 200.

Check out your Wifi driver settings (application if exists or from Device Management) - set speed to B/g/n (or only n or try with various settings). Restart. Also remember to update your drivers.

just for some color: i play fish from southern USA (using wifi right now as well, unfortunately...). also, my isp is shit and completely unreliable, ie sometimes ill have 5down .5up, sometimes ill have 20 down 2up, sometimes ill get throttled to .1/.1. however, fish is more reliable as a server than any US based server that I use, be it CS1.6 or dota2.. it's actually unbelievable how smooth playing on fish is given the distance, it actually makes playing on something like iccup or shieldbattery unbearable for me when juxtaposed.. only LAN or a connection from korea itself is better.
so, it has to be something on your end. fish barely ever lags and the distance/isp really shouldn't be an issue. pretty sure they use magic spells to make fish run as well as it does
edit forgot my ping like an idiot. i usually get 180 to 220, although that's meaningless given i can micro mutas as well as if it was on lan somehow. like i said, magic server..

thanks everyone for the input. yeah it definitely was my desktop. so I bought a wifi card to see if it made a difference. i plugged it in the back of my PC where my original wifi card antennae is located. had the same shit ping. but I could move the USB wifi adapter and so I gave that a shot. I put it in the front and my ping went down by half. for some reason the area behind my computer is screwing up the speeds even though the signal is the same %. I solved it but I am curious as to what could be going on. Positioning the antennae simply 6 inches away (to the front of my PC case), doubled my speeds.
I can play on fish now, the koreans don't leave right away =)

I also use WIFI because of where my router is, so I understand the struggle. Weird things can interfere with the signal, so the rules of WIFI are,
1. The higher your antenna and router is, the better your connection to the router. 2. The Closer you are to your router, the better your signal. 3.Least amount of Walls there are between you and router the better the signal. 4.The less Electronical Equipment that uses signals as well, the better the signal.
Last one is important, because Where my computer is, is close to the kitchen, and There is a microwave directly behind the wall of my computer, and every time the microwave is used, it has a chance to interfere with the wifi signal.

This is because microwaves, when in operation, emits waves at the 2.4GHz range. To avoid this, you can set your router to operate at the 5GHz band, then microwaves won't interfere since it will be in 2.4GHz range.

additionally, to follow up what art of turtle said, i believe marble and granite fuck with the signals for some reason. another reason you don't want the kitchen between you and your router.
