Just wondering if there are replays of gamers using the shielding qualities of doodads and thus actually using the map to his/her advantage?
Or games on maps where doodads were much prevalent?
Thanks!

Also lurkers work well well positioned behind a tree or so.

(in general common to hide strong single anty air units behind trees etc. when fighting air units) Also lurkers work well well positioned behind a tree or so. Your post made me go back and check the hit/miss ratio of units under cover of trees and other doodads. Guess what? It does almost nothing. Air units attacking ground units under cover of trees hit pretty much 90% of the time. You can test it out yourself with this quick map I made: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=04709643753134858865 To the right side you can test units shooting from low ground to high ground and see that it is pretty much 50%, Blizzard wrote in their guide that it is 70% but this has proven to be false and you can test it yourself too. (Somebody made a video testing this with 100 shots, the results were exactly 50 hit, 50 miss) I think I also remember them saying a similar ratio for units under cover, but just testing it now, it doesn't seem to have much effect. I do notice some misses but it is very rare.

There are a few other maps that use the effect on a large scale, but this one's the only one in the iCCup map pack On October 27 2016 13:04 razorsuKe wrote: Your post made me go back and check the hit/miss ratio of units under cover of trees and other doodads. Guess what? It does almost nothing. Wrong: "Units attempting to attack a target in the first two cases have a 53.125% [note: = 120/256 chance to miss] chance to hit their target. The miss chance in those cases has been frequently but mistakenly reported to be 30% by several sources [note: the culprits are Blizzard themselves, others just copied that false info over and over again without ever verifying it]. Units attempting to attack a target under Dark Swarm have a 0% chance to hit their target until they move out from under the cloud or the cloud wears off. The chance of an "air shot" is 1/256; that is, with the two units on equal elevation, a ranged unit's chance to hit is 99.609375%. Air units attacking ground units under cover of trees hit pretty much 90% of the time. Please explain your testing method, or just post a screenshot and I will explain to you what you did wrong. You can test it out yourself with this quick map I made: Seeing that you used doodads that are for the most part unwalkable in combination with very bulky units, there's probably the explanation what went wrong with your test: You simply could not get the units actually onto the cover area of the doodads. It is almost impossible to get an Ultralisk under cover of those kind of trees, unless you know exactly (like almost pixel-perfect) where you have to click. Try jungle trees or desert huts instead, they are much easier to work with (ice trees do not provide cover, by the way, but there are some building doodads for ice tileset that do).http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=04709643753134858865

Has not much to do with the OP though (although technically doodads were involved, but this could have happened with any piece of terrain, so it really has nothing to do with doodads per se; but then, doodads are just special terrain tiles, in game doodad do not actually exist as separate objects, so the whole term is kind of ill-defined, which is why it is best to limit discussion to the actual cover effect, which is indeed an effect specific to certain doodad tiles) EDIT: As there seems to be a lot of confusion in general as to which doodads do actually provide cover for units, here is a complete overview (if there are identical low and medium ground versions for a doodad, they are only show once and the other omitted): + Show Spoiler [show image] + For a unit to actually gain the cover effect, it needs to be placed on top of the one of those doodad tiles (unit position is considered to be at the centre point of its collision box).
