Have they said what the prize pool will be or is that TBD?

Weren't the qualifiers initially meant to take place on the 25th and 26th of March?

I really hope at least the last game in the Duals is bo3. It's so jarring to have players go from a 2-game/3-game series of bo1 straight to a bo5.

(before any crowd funding or any additional bonuses) Huh so the base prize pool is lower than before.
Do you have any info on the other placements? Like how much do the 5th-8th finishers get. Or the Ro16/Ro24 players?
Edit: Dumb question. Easy to find on the page. 500,000 krw 5th-8th 300,000 krw 9th-16th 150,000 krw 17th-28th
Another question: Anyone knows how they are going to play this out? They need 18 broadcasting days but only have 16 (with the final being on a Saturday). Are they going to play the groups oldschool? With one game of a group each broadcasting day? Unless I made a mistake it just doesn't fit
|
I would love the old style, as I believe it makes for better stories but allegedly last time they already did it in the GSL-way to avoid deciders in the round robin phase. It's hard to schedule for that.
I think ASL2 had 17 match-days (6 days of group phase 1, 4 days of group phase 2, 4 days of quarters, 2 days of semis, & 1 final day), this time they might hold two quarters and the the semis on the same day?
Sounds good, especially since I think some of the lesser matchups had a smaller audience.
EDIT: Oh, their website states the schedule and it's indeed 18 match-days. Weird.
|
The difference is because apparently they will do a series for 3rd place this time

I think the qualifiers for ASL 2 had something like 700 sign-ups. Players? Yes. Lots.

Still some pretty notable players missing. But there is time left.

Really sad that Zero likely won't be participating because of his military service, but I'm excited for another great tournament.

Hopefully there will be decent ways to boost the prizepool, and just just like "sign up with a new plan with KT", since if you showed support of KT because of their other BW ventures, you dont count now because you already had a plan.

Looks like the prize pool is pretty much identical to ASL2 -- if I recall, KT/Afreeca added ₩5M on the day of the finals.
I imagine Afreeca will play around with the broadcast days to suit their schedules -- ASL2 had three game days/week before switching to two

Sadly, Guemchi is having a serious personal issue atm. So it is not definite whether he will be joining or not. Hope everything will be okay and see him playing at ASL S3.
Plus, GoRush (Zerg) and TheRocK (Protoss) might be joining as well, but again not definite.
There can (and will) be many more big names as it has been only two days since the application started. So let's be patient for now, and I will keep the list up to dated as soon as I can confirm further participants!

Can't wait.

I'd like to see Killer, Baby, Fantasy, Jangbi after I wake up from a 6 month coma. Who'd you guys want to see play BW again (realistically with a microcosm of a chance of qualifying)?
|
I have absolutely no idea why Outsider SE is preferred over the original. Same with HBR.
|
Why don't they just make the offline qualifiers streamable? It's almost just as exciting as the event up to final four really

killer and jangbi won't be back for at least a few months. Fantasy joined the army late last year and baby is pretty successful playing SC2 right now.

Baby should just come back to BW, then again SC2 can have another Terran while BW is just too loaded with em already haha. He was still someone who couldve been one of the greats

i disagree. he was always going to be in the shadow of flash (and to a lesser extent, fantasy) so unless flash suddenly retired he wasn't ever going to have a legacy as good as them two.
|
Baby impressed the hell out of me in Hana Daetoo Securities MSL and 2010 Korean Air OSL. He went a total of 3-0 against JD in those tournies. 2010 Jaedong.
But his Team 8 performance really disappointed me though.
I too would like to see him return to BW.

I'd love to see ClouD qualifying. I knew his name but I would have never been able to put a face to the name until I was redoing the old Proleagues on LP and saw his 2 back to back undefeated seasons in the early days of PL. Watched a few of his games and somehow became a fan... just sadly probably 8 years too late Would love to see him at an offline tournament even though chances are slim
