"it needs to be grittier" "it needs to have more contrast" "it looks like the team didn't do anything at all" "no, it's too different" I've seen so much of this, like, geesh. It seems like all of the gripes are nothing more than "this is different and different is bad", so I'll give my thoughts on it. In my opinion, the art looks phenomenal compared to what I always thought a Remaster would be. It's clear that the team has been testing the original art and the new art endlessly (they stated that they play and test every day), every unit's silhouette matches the original as do most of the color palettes. The minerals and some of the explosions are the only thing that stand out, but it seems fine especially on a much larger game window than Classic BW and really isn't that big of a deal, is it? As for the "it looks like the entire team is making the game feminine, I want it to be MANLY and 100% masculine unlike SC2 which is 100% feminine and has an objectively BAD art style", well, you're actually wrong about it being feminine and you're not thinking about the bigger picture either. More pixels, higher fidelity, etc. does not mean "more feminine" or "more girly" or even less gritty or "manly" (unless muddy, pixelated art is somehow manly art...). The art "style" of BW, and many games in the 80s and 90s, is not only extremely subjective and the nostalgia of BW fans clouds their perception of the new art, but the reason they seemed gritty and dark and extremely muddy is because of color and pixel and sprite limitations of the technological era that BW was made in. There are so many "missing parts" of units and structures that make them look the way they do, but just because they are more detailed doesn't mean they are "feminine" or the new art style is bad. It's actually a very similar art style, just in a higher resolution. You also have to understand that the art styles of newer games have more emphasis on readability (read: the opposite of muddy and dark) which is a large part of creating a successful, enjoyable experience for players and is in no small part why games like WC3, SC2, Rocket League, Dota 2, OW, etc. were as successful as they were and why BW was never, and still isn't, very popular with Western gamers. And, if the game isn't enjoyable to play or to watch then there's not really any point then, is there? It'd be like making food that looks bad, smells bad and tastes bad but is healthy and telling people to eat the gross food, they'll simply leave and eat other food that smells good, looks good, tastes good and is healthy. For me, with everything I've seen, it looks like a great balance between the art that the original artists made out of necessity and what the same artists might have made if they had more pixels to spare and had more information on what gamers and esports viewers want. We had great mechanics and 1v1 gameplay, now we have more readable art too and it captures the same feeling (unless you have the thickest Nostalgia Goggles on, of course).

Also, the 'high arms' protruding from the shoulder-tops seem too long/prominent/odd-looking. Finally, is it just me, or does their running animation seem a bit too 'bouncy/hoppy' now? 'Lingaroos'? Really, the original lings were pretty spot-on man, just make 'em HD. No need to re-invent the wheel.

There is however some regression in the visibility of units, which I hope will be fixed. This one seems to be especially bad: I don't know why they made the tilesets so noisy. IMHO the contrast of the details should be smaller

This one seems to be especially bad: It's too bad, 'cuz the marines now have a sort of cool 'color-anodized' look to them, which I hope they're able to retain. While improving visibility, of course. Marines actually look better now. Well, when you can see 'em.

They have explained that, since its all the same client and just a graphical update between the original BW and the remaster, that you will be able to play with people that dont have the new graphics in the same game online.

A lot of these things are quite constructive feedback for the developers. Because it is a remaster, that means that we should be nitpicking it to bits graphically. In short I just don't want to be looking at a game that I know I love, but feel that they didn't get it quite right graphic wise for the next 20 years. It's a legitimate concern.

Nothing is ever fucking good enough, lol A corporation worth 15 billion dollars wants to sell an upcoming product to its customers. Do the customers not have a right to ask for improvements or customizable options on an upcoming product that the multi-billion dollar corporation wants to sell them? Should the potential customers just shut up, tuck their tails between their legs, and be expected to buy a product that doesn't meet their expectations? It would be kind of like a political candidate acting like she is entitled to people's votes even though she refuses to implement policies that the voters would like to see.

No, they don't have that right. The company can listen if it chooses, but it's not a right. The people who complain can simply choose not to buy. This community has literally complained about anything and everything for a very, very long time. I have never seen/been a part of any other community that was just so...whiny.
