[UPDATE] I will make names bold for those who got through to Ro24. Some players have a second chance in Busan, but I heard some players decided not to. There will be more notable players who signed up for the Busan qualifier only, I will update this thread when I find out. Thanks for the suggestion, c3rberUs!
Hi all,
ASL S3 Seoul qualifer groups have been announced! There are lots of familiar names like NaDa even.
As they use real names instead of using usernames, I'll write notable players in each group. There will be another qualifer in Busan as well. No announcement has been made yet, but I heard few players signed up for Busan qualifier only. So let's just wait for now.
Group 1 Bisu, Berserker, [Oops]ClouD, GlowRua, BrAvO, JuNi
Group 2 Stork, hssky, Horang2, GoRush
Group 3 effort, NsP_Britney, HyuN, Noble
Group 4 KT.MGW)Ggaemo, Shuttle, Tyson, Terror, Cat, ArnC
Group 5 Mong, free.y, Sea.Pure, Lazy, HoGil.ZerG
Group 6 Last, PuSan[S.G], firebathero, Modern
Group 7 herO(zerg), Rush, Zeus, Kwanro, Lomo[fOu], Perfectman[kal], zelot, scan
Group 8 Light, Guemchi, KT.MGW)Hyuk, HoeJJa

Thanks for the correction. I changed "holy[kal]" to "eagle", and added two players you've mentioned as well. But I don't recall those two players you've mentioned. :/

Scan has good chances to make it out of groups.
I haven't been subscribing BW for ages, so that's why the names are not familiar. haha.

Scan is me. zelot beat effort in seoul qualifiers before.
Ahh group 1. I really like Iris but I love ClouD. Hopefully one of them can make it out groups. Hoping for a Bisu slump day Also really rooting for Rush in Group 7. We need some 'fresh' blood and I really like him.
I would love it, if NaDa, Nal_rA or IntoTheRainbow could make it to ASL3 but I remain pessimistic
Soulkey vs sSak seems to be the biggest encounter so far
Nal_Ra and Nada? How old are they now? like mid 30s? Dang thats awesome! Wonder if they have a chance to make it... well this is BW, anything can happen
forhitech in group 7 is more recognizable as Kwanro, I think. Also, the player you have listed as Silent_Control (Na Doh Hyun) is the Zerg player Modern (Na Doh Hang). Would be neat if Silent_Control were really playing again though...
Doesn't 910 work for Afreeca now or something? Cool to see him participating.

Thanks for the correction! I often get confused when they use player's actual name... :/

No problem. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
love seeing all the older players. I'm really hopeful that Nada, Nal_ra and Gorush will make it past the qualifiers. Nada has been practicing hard on stream and so was Nal_ra yesterday. Dunno about Gorush.
Nada has a good chance imo, Nal_ra a bit rougher, not sure on Gorush. Also, ZeLot, getting stuck in a tough group!
(Z)HoGiL 박철순(전 시즌에 (Z)Jaedong에게 부산 구경을 시켜 준 아마추어) 박근혜(응 구속) (Z)HoGiL, an amateur player who sent (Z)Jaedong to Busan in the previous season's qualifier. Park Geun Hye (arrested)
Guess someone used fake names to sign up. What a joke.
Haven't head from Kwanro in a while. By.Snow vs Movie, I remember the days when people were talking about how Snow was better than Movie, of course there is some truth to that he was more consistent during the later years of proleague. Hopefully Movie gets out of his group. Sucks there is no Zero. And how many can qualify out of a group?

One qualifies per group, but losers can make another attempt in Busan.

Yes, their streams are super fun to watch! So much nostalgia.
It would be nothing short of amazing, to see Nal_rA in a competitive game again. Really hope he makes it!

Unfortunately, I don't think Nal_ra has what it takes anymore Losing to random ICCup players a while back was sad but if anyone can make it past the qualifiers (just qualifying would be amazing atm!), it's him so I'm optimistic

I wonder why big names have to go through this...i remeber this qualifiers was the graveyard of big names in the past with several upset....having players like bisu 'risking' to get out of AsL3 in this moment would feel so bad...hope all the big names make it!

Without disrespecting Terror, I believe that if Terror could make it a motivated Nal_ra also could. Although, the level of play is getting higher.

I hope Nal_Ra makes it out, it would be a great if he can make it. Old boy was a great series to watch and maybe the situation is a bit more favourable to him this time around. Kang Min!
On March 31 2017 19:24 Salbahe wrote: Hyped! Will stream be available for this qualifiers??
Nope. Probably only 3rd person streams where streamers stand behind some players during the matches and film them. You might want to look out for the streams of the already qualified players. I could imagine that for example Sea or BeSt are going there. Also Rapid might stream live. Or atleast give us updates.

A new unknown young kid that comes in and upsets some of the older pros. Obviously we would already have heard of such a person if they were already decent as such, but it'd be nice to see possibly a new generation of amazing players that can carry the torch and keep BW alive, challenging the old progamers.

Well the new players are not noted here because by definition they are not notable.
That being said, in ASL2 a few total rookies made it through the qualifiers, which is more than previous starleagues had (where usually no total rookie would make it through).

I think you're thinking of Backho? I remember hearing Lomo became a police officer or something like that
Stork went to bed incredibly early compared to his usual streams, Shuttle I think is going there without sleep as he finished streaming about 2 hrs ago, all the while Best not having to do quali was just browsing images of various beaches like a champion. Let's see whose preparation works out better.
There are some results showing up on Challonge. The only notable one I see so far is that Bisu seems to have W/O his first round opponent.
There is a stream at http://play.afreecatv.com/soryong1/190588306 by some guy at the PC bang, but unless you speak Korean (and perhaps even then) all you'll get out of it is some blurry views of gamers meandering around in the background.
Iris pushed down the nat Nexus. Bisu now breaking the contain. No min-only or third gas for Bisu unless he hid it somewhere. Pretty good look for Iris.
Incidentally I don't think Iris took a third at all either that game, which is pretty wild. Flash always always takes his third behind an opening like that. Bisu may have underestimated the followup aggression on that basis.

There's a reason IriS was once called the "most aggressive Terran [player] in the industry"

I had, in fact, completely forgotten about this, probably because I needed to erase the memory of Iris subsequently being knocked out by Kwanro
Iris finally pushes out after basically nothing but harass from both players. Bisu kills enough to reduce him to ~80 supply before retreating. Unclear what either player's economic situation is, but I have to think that Bisu's multitask ability will pull him through in a situation like this.
Afreeca should be making money from the qualifiers as well as the actual event. They should stream this first qualifier since it's really as interesting as the event itself
Game turned on Bisu's micro to kill all the SCVs trying to build the second Bunker. Once that got denied until Iris pulled another SCV all the way from his main the game was over.
I'm guessing the small window thing came from avoiding use of the scaler to reduce input lag, and some people are probably used to it even if it's irrelevant on modern LCDs.
On April 01 2017 10:51 Aylear wrote: Awww, gg. I guess Iris is the one going to Busan.
losers go to Busan for another qualifying stage?
No, it's just a separate qualifier held in Busan. For people who can't make it to Seoul and as a second chance to those who fail today, if they want to sign up for it.
Yeah if that was Modesty then the Shuttle vs ggaemo stuff posted earlier was alternative facts and now it's a ZvZ between Modesty and ggaemo for the group finals
modesty was like, the best zerg in 2015 going on a 15 win unbeaten streak on Lovetv with creative builds also 3-0 sziky and made him go full foreigner mode. he will walk over gasp zerg

Also, what's the matchup on the stream now? Didn't catch it.
The atmosphere looks pretty casual and there are a lot of open computers, so I have a feeling you could go if you wanted. Plus you're an ex-pro yourself
Mong's stream is himself vs. free, not sure what the other stream is
It's about halfway done right now so there's still lots of games to be played.

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Afreeca_Starleague_Season_3 gets updated with verified winners some times. Otherwise we're all just watching the various ghetto streams from Zeus, Larva, Light, etc. from the venue, squinting to try to make out who everyone is playing with, and some people are paying attention to the Challonge brackets (in Korean) and figuring out who's who.
This ain't a production, it's just SC/BW passion trying to figure out who's qualifying. =)

Too many big names to fit in the Ro24. I'm so glad to see so many well-known faces coming back. Speaking of faces, I hope we will all be able to enjoy some ggaemo fail faces. :D
I hope ggaemo will somehow upset some pro players and make it to like ro8 or something like that :D It would be very refreshing to see someone new compete, but realistically I think he doesn't have what it takes to go far
