AfreecaTV is criticized by congressman for a long time, and stock price of AfreecaTV is dropped highly. Congress suggest to restrict donation(balloons) by 500,000won per 1 day.

T.T I mean Chinese government put pressure on Tencent to reduce the addictiveness of its games, so why not I guess. Btw, which aspects of AfreecaTV are viewed unfavorably? Is it the behavior of some of its BJs? Is it because some fans risk financial ruin through donations? (kind of like the people who spend tens of thousands of dollars on boy bands / girl groups)

(kind of like the people who spend tens of thousands of dollars on boy bands / girl groups) I think that's extremely silly as well but at least you can argue that addiction is an issue there. As for this, if someone wants to spend their money and donate, limiting the amount streamers can get is just terrible. I'm guessing it's the behaviour of some BJs but that's more on the BJ and less on AfreecaTV. They've also timed out streams like Terror who cross a certain line so it's not like they are leaving it all to unfold.

It's entirely possible it is being used as money laundering, or similar. Crowdsourced money appearing from nowhere as income is basically the dream scenario for money launderers.

Idk if that would still make money laundering through Afreeca worthwhile
