The world-wide launch of StarCraft: Remastered approaches! On Monday, August 14 through Tuesday. August 15, we welcome you to join us as we bring some of the storied starCraft: Brood War personalities and players together for a 2-day hang-out extravaganza over StarCraft: Remastered. Below we've put together details to help you get ready for this broadcasted LAN-party celebrating the re-release of a game which caused us to re-imagine what it meant to be a gamer.
Hope this suffices for an OP, but if someone else makes a better one by all means use that
Really awesome! I'm not sure about White-Ra, but I know the other 7 have been practicing so I think we should see some fun games. I'm not sure if this will be a tournament or just friendly showmatches with everyone having a blast. In any event I'm looking forward to it!

I matched white ra in matchmaking but couldnt play him cuz i was using vpn to no lag vs koreans =(

Best foreigners of all time (but not in that order).
Ret is really good dude. And the people who stayed active during the SCII years are also incredibly good - don't underestimate them just because they didn't play at the height of foreign BW.
On August 12 2017 13:20 Psyonic_Reaver wrote: I'm surprised Machine isn't involved either.
Or schamtoo.
Since both of them work at twitch. =p
I didn't know Machine worked at Twitch, but Schamtoo will be doing observing for the event. He's practiced a lot during Filthy BW Cups and Have At You so it's cool to see him being involved in the event too.

Draco has been away from the game for a while tho, he didn't even play in TSL2 so it might be harder for him to come back as opposed to someone like ret (adjusting to the new meta etc.). I heard he's been playing a lot tho, personally i think ret is gonna win.

[–]Geoff "iNcontroL" RobinsonEG_iNcontroLRC 264 points il y a 11 heures IdrA was asked btw and declined. I just say so that hopefully a number of you read this and don't ask me about it I think he is very happy not being in esports and getting himself educated and moving on. Be happy for him! I am excited to play. Been laddering.. non lan latency has been hard but my builds/mechanics are coming back and I love the game. can't wait to get smashed then hang out with the guys and enjoy some good SC BW :D
I'd love to try BW and as a complete BW noob and only SC2 player I'd love if they had a custom option with some things making it easier to get into BW.
Multiple selection buildings Be able to select whole army Way point for auto mining
Those three would make the transition easier in custom games
This event will be a blast nonetheless, looking forward to it!
I would have loved a match between day9 vs artosis.

Don't know why the hostility towards my post but I wasn't trolling. Not everyone is emotionally invested in online pissing contest about what is better and what is not.
I just want to play BW but have difficulties learning the mechanics and suggested a way for people like me to enjoy the game without affecting the ladder and the original game at all.

That's like saying you want to play football but have difficulties kicking the ball around. It's normal; that's part of the game; that's what practice is for.
Kind of disappointed with some of these invites tbh :/ Either they went cheapskate and preferred to invite more Americans due to lower travelling costs or they have no idea who's currently good (or even was good before SC2) at BW.

Jeez people.
wtf...do you not understand what remastered is? the whole fking point of their marketing campaign was to tell us that the old mechanics of BW are back. they've been telling us they haven't changed shit and that's why it is doing so well in getting folks excited. how could you possibly miss this? it's the whole damn purpose of Remastered.
Mondragon and Idra appear to have both turned down an opportunity to play. Not sure about if there were any other invites who could not make it. I will ask and let you know.
I do not think that they were originally going to do something like this. So the fact anything got up and running is great (particularly considering the time frame). I think it was a (very) last minute decision by Twitch and or Blizzard to host an event of this nature.
I do not know if blizz asked twitch, or twitch went to blizzard. Or if it was just a natural collaboration.
There is only so much coordination you can do with international visas without much notice. I was only notified last Saturday evening.
As to whether organisation should have been done at an earlier time? well probably. But anything is better than nothing and its great to see some love being poured back into broodwar.
Gonna be a great event. There will always be players "missing" in these events (for instance Eriador!), but I think the participant-list is very good. Extra glad to see Legionnaire there, not sure everyone knows how good he was in his prime. Hope to see some reaver-kills!
I think TL should send TLO or Hotbid with Ret and make a report series much like Artosis did when Ret went to Korea to compete in the courage tourney. In the form of a show: Where Ret's last training, his traveling and winning the tournament gets captured. Titled: Ret's Oldboy (the mini series) If done right I could totally see this being beneficial to all parties involved. I have no doubt TLO or either Hotbid could easily provide needed comic relieve in the form of interviewing Ret's thoughts and feelings.
TL could even assign it's potential new BW Writers with the task to write a quick scenario for how this show should look like.
*Checks date for event* It's probably on way too short notice to make this still possible. + Show Spoiler +
Sorry, I got excited for a moment brainstorming this ^^ Imagine this though, then following up with TSL season 3 to ride out the hype into more glory! It would totally get BW back on the map and fuel TL's engine to make it roar like a V12 super turbo charged. + Show Spoiler +
If i were able to replace players from the list, i would replace Incontrol and Artosis with other players from America then i would choose Dinot or Castro instead of Incontrol, and for the Terran side, i would choose Fenix.
This is huge IMO. I am so excited to see the Plott brothers involved. sick line up too!. A shame Mondragon could not make it, in the other hand Idra wont be missed. I love the suggestion about sending Hotbid, he is such a good interviewer.

we all know Incontrol and artosis are playing this event because back in the day they were the main opossition to Draco,Ret and Legionnaire... or mb not... mb im confusing incontrol with mondragon and artosis with androide.

Idra is definitely missed, I don't know what you're talking about. Unless you didnt enjoy your beloved other foreigners getting demolished by him usually he is 100% missed.

Is nothing like that. But your beloved boy had a bad attitude, it was bad looser, and sometimes disrespectful. So yeah I don't miss whiners.

So you would rather have a feel-good hug party with lots of <3 than the best and most renowned foreigners duking it out? Idra is a legend and I have no idea why you would shit on a retired pro because he had a "bad attitude". At least he had the skill to back it up.
I'm gonna get pissed if Blizzard manages to somehow postpone this like they postponed the release of patch 1.18. I'm holding my thumbs for everything to work out smoothly

Anyway, the lineup seems promising, wish we had Testie/Mondragon/Advocate and Android in that as well.
Testie yes, i'd never even heard of Catz before sc2 so he definitely doesnt belong. But id rather have Idra/Mondie as well though. even though they've obviously refused

I'd rather have Idra in there who i feel after he became extra popular in sc2 was just raging for the hell of it than a bunch of "gm people" Cause in Idras own words "stop saying that no gg no skill bullshit cause its fucking stupid"

Fun catching up with all the guys and finding out what they have been up to over the last few years.
Seems that ret and nyoken are the likely winners. Solely based on number of games played leading up to this. I think both of them have each played more than all of the others combined.
About to crash. Left at 10am sunday. Flew 13 hrs and arrived at 9am sunday! Time travel! But so tired.
Arrived at the hotel. No rooms. So walked around the city. Down to the harbour. Then came back. Met tasteless in the lobby. The artosis arrived in his limo. Went out and grabbed a few beers before being given our rooms and crashing.
I think we all slept for a few hrs then met up with the others who arrived. Had a nice dinner out together after tasteless got us lost yet again!

No it doesnt thank god
So can i expect that it can use multiple cpu cores and the game won't choke finally on an i7 cpu?

Broodwar could run on an iPad. This just adds graphics.

Is the time for the event in the TL.net calendar wrong? The event was supposed to start at 21:00 CET, but according to the calendar it's set to begin 2 hours later.

The original was optimised for Pentium 1 CPUs. Even my old 233 Mhz Pentium MMX was more than enough.
While I don't think the new game comes close to these numbers, even an super old first generation dual core (Athlon 64 X2) should be enough.
I hope as a special surprise Blizzard will also update their payment methods during the launch event, since I can't even buy the game at the moment. Don't have a credit card and even when trying to pay with Paypal you need a credit card attached to your account.

No, I'm pretty sure you need to have the right saldo already on your paypal account, which I think is quite retarded. But that has been my experience with that 'error' message.

Nah, have about $100 on my Paypal account, it's verified with a debit card linked, but still need to add a credit card or debit card with visa/mastercard/discover/american express in order to be able to purchase stuff on battle.net. Works fine for other stuff and can use it for Steam purchases without problems. I think it's because you are in Holland that it's a bit easier...

Afaik you get a skin for CC/Hatchery/Nexus and some portraits in sc2 if you pre-purchase, that's all.
Kinda boggles my mind how people who are aware of the remaster have no idea about this. Its been advertised to death everywhere, and controversially discussed because the skins are ugly.

weird, the version of circuit breaker they're using has the geyser in the top right main base misplaced by 1 tile to the left... it's not mining efficiently.

Seriously, they always say both games are great but different. Still they love to mention how this was something that was already done in BW even when casting GSL. You can always hear their respect for BW.
what we have really are people who have added insignificant amounts to the scene bashing on people who are pillars and content creators during a time when BW was in its infancy. Somehow we should get better casters than these people smh

If you watch the stream for more than 30 seconds you will notice it's a super laid back, almost HomeStory Cup type event. They invited people who were very well known (and high level at various points in time) in the community before SC2 and who will be remembered by people who stopped following BW when SC2 came out.
Do you complain about BoxeR vs YellOw and NaDa vs Reach showmatches as well?

that ain't a good reason in my book. If you wanna showcase how much this game has to offer, wouldn't you wanna have the best foreigners to show what it offers?

Maybe they want to showcase how much fun it is to play rather than how hardcore we are.

If you wanna showcase how much this game has to offer, why not just invite FlaSh and EffOrt instead? At this point they are infinitely more known and recognizable to younger / newer fans due to KeSPA's stint in SC2. Whereas current foreign BW players are practically unknown to anyone who hasn't closely followed foreign BW specifically in the last few years.
Not to mention we would not be able to get the same funny banter, recounting of great stories and general nostalgic feeling.

that ain't a good reason in my book. If you wanna showcase how much this game has to offer, wouldn't you wanna have the best foreigners to show what it offers?
Why wouldn't be do Koreans instead? Besides these old school players will bring a lot more views than the current top BW foreigners.
This is amazing lol, I am Loving the casting, Tasteless is on point! "Is there anyway to check how many probes were killed?" "No this is BroodWar bro" lol

im a relatively new BW player. I've watched a lot of Korean pros, but this event is just perfect for me. I don't give a shit about X foreign player or Y non-top korean player- who wants to watch them play? I want to watch the historic foreigners that we've heard about for 20 years, joking around and having a good time. This isn't a celebration of skill, its a celebration of our history.

Glad to have you man, we're with you on this one. 'cept that guy and the ppp whatever number guy who will probably get banned in a few hours when the mods wake up.
This event is amazing. I am one of the few guys who does not enjoy the HSC style that much , but this casual atmosphere fits the release of SCRE perfectly. Glad a lot of people are enjoying the show as I am too
Well I was beeing nice earlier, but Tasteless and Artosis have been a bit wrong on some occassions during casts, hopefully that will improve at they get more familiar with BW playing it more tho!

ret is gonna be competing in the 2nd group and presumably be on the couch as well yeah.

well I don't blame them with the "temple of EE-sama" tag in your name. Sacraligious to our TI champion home-grown Liquid!
I'm really digging this trip down memory lane. Also some cool games too. Fun times. Wish I didnt work tomorrow =/
Damn my best ever night while chilling with beer. Didn't even know about this event, just wanted to play SC:R but this shit is even better than trying the remastered after 19 years game.

Reddit's been around longer than a decade, but it didn't took off until the 14 year old memelords found it in 2011.
For perspective, the Savior matchfixing scandal got like 8 upvotes.
Yeah tech-oriented stuff was the only discussion topic for the most part, and even that was tiny back then compared even to our /r/starcraft today IIRC.

Of course. You end up looking back fondly on all the magical ways you can lose a game of Brood War. It's the best
Artosis could have sniped at least 3 carriers with the way G5 was positioning himself prior to some engagements and didn't. That was what ended up costing him the game more so than the bottom ninja expansion, imo.

I feel like this whole release is poorly planned by Blizzard. So little news and advertisement. Shame they didn't use this opportunity to reach out to a lot of old school players. Hope there will be a decent enough playerbase for me to compete in on my level (scrub).

I mean... Don't get me wrong I fully agree with you that every single one of these things would be good to have and they should probably have done it.
But neptunus was talking about catering to old-school fans. Does marketing really matter to us specifically? If you're an old school fan then you already know it's happening, you come here on TL, you look at this thread, and you know when and where it's happening, you tune in, listen to iNcontroL shit-talk Artosis and we all have a good laugh. Obviously marketing would go a long ways in getting more people to check out this new [re]release, but we don't really need it.

So, this is prolly not the ideal place but can someone help me here? I brought remastered 2 days ago thru Blizzard link on bw, I guess blizzard will send it to my home? Not sure. Anyways I logged in today and the usual bw was updated to 1.19. It looked cool I played 2 games and had to log off. Now I tried to log in again but it made me download something called "Blizzard app".
I can't play anymore and it sends me to a page asking me to buy it... does that mean something went wrong when I brought it the first time? Not sure how to check.

If you log into the "Blizzard app" with your account that you bought the game on you should be able to select it and install it from there

They won't send anything to your home, SC:R comes as a digital item only.
You should be able to play, having to use the Blizzard app is normal. I also got the screen that tells me to buy SC:R when I opened the app, but you can just close that banner and should see StarCraft under games. You should see all the Blizzard games like WoW, Diablo, Hearthstone, sc2 etc and you just have to select SC.
Thanks, guys. I checked it But I feel there was something wrong with purchase wasn't. Because it says play now but it launches 1.20 instead of the remastered. How can I check this? I got the confirmation, and the confirmation of the payment saved as .pdf
@musicus, yeh, I saw the Starcraft tab and clicked it but it only directs me to 1.20. Which I did. But before the APP download I think I played the remastered. During the match it looked like the korean streams using the SC:R, only the ladder seemed different. But then it asked me to download the APP and now I can only play 1.20.
Sorry, I'm only a BW nerd but don't know crap about technology and stuff.

For Remastered, you need to download the "Blizzard App" you mentioned, and you'll see a dedicated slot for SC remastered on the left side of that app. Download and install from there and you're good to go!

Is it possible for observers to disable the players' camera rectangles buzzing around the minimap? I find it really distracting, it's harder to pay attention to players sneaking around shuttles and stuff.
maybe im won over easy... with all the sillyness in the casting but to me it was incredibly funny and enjoyable should do these kind of casual casting more often
Dynamic lighting is just terrible for clarity purposes. It's really hard to tell who's zealots are for who. Don't really understand why they turned it on and left it on after leaving it on for a good portion of yesterday's cast.

whatever you find most comfortable really, red/brown/blue are all pretty common for rts players
Polish national team had the same system. There was a pool of "challenges" issued each month (i.e. 5 or 6) that would be handed to people who did something noteworthy (i.e. got to the top of the WGT / PGT ladder, won some notable game in a CW etc.).
They could challenge anybody from POL-B (or, if they were a member of POL-B already or did something truly remarkable - POL-A). System changed throughout the years, but you usually had to win 2 Bo3's / Bo5's to replace that person on the roster.
I think that's part the reason Polish national team kicked so much ass (we had an 80% win ratio accross *hundreds* of nation wars / matches against korean guilds).

As soon as Team liquid starts getting any notoriety like in the prime of SC2 and now with SC:R you suddenly get on your high horse and start banning/warning people. Not to mention how unprofessional your warning was worded.
Check my post history, I've said much worse without warning but suddenly you give a shit?
Fuck you 'loser Steve' you balding little forum jockey.

Back in the day he woulda gotten banned quick for directly flaming someone like that (especially a moderator after being warned), but apparently that's ok now. I been away a long time, I guess the moderation is different? I should probably get a feel for the place again before I do any moderator stuff

Yeah I remember. Now there's a guy in this very thread who made a post the other day shitting on everyone at this event and calling them SC2 sellouts and other unfounded accusations who hasn't even been warned. And when I pointed that out he PMed me calling me a fucking idiot and telling me I'm not a mod and he shouldn't be banned for "different opinion".
Yeah because someone who was never here back in the day and is retroactively trying to front like he's some hot BW shit, flaming Artosis, Day[9], Tasteless and iNcontroL is an opinion now, and not just plain stupid.

This build only works in very specific circumstances (toss taking a greedy fast double expo), and even when it does it's sometimes a hard fight. Every other time you get completely bopped.
Incontrol talking about Aussies and the C word made me laugh. Yes, we do have bad habit of saying that word.
Cool to see Nyoken get through. Good to see Incontrol has calmed down a little bit from earlier on to. Thank god, he was being a prick at the start of the stream.
On August 16 2017 06:51 GumBa wrote: This event has been so fun. How has scr been going for you guys so far?
I played three games so far (ladder not working is a bit demotivating because i wanna see the stats^^) One vs someone way, way better than me. He basically destroyed me with some zealots and the first few corsairs. One vs a total beginner who turtled on one base forever. And another one who was around my lvl but i lost the basetrade. All three ZvP.

I've been playing just fine on Europe (ranked) these past 2 days, but sometimes the MM breaks for everyone and it won't find a game no matter how long you wait.

I was planning to overwhelm my rivals with my unparalleled macro, but it seems i can't multitask anymore. I had so many idle workers that my main looked like a beach resort. My timings were all late and lurkers just destroyed my bio.
Then i played a protoss and went bio again because i only checked one build order in liquipedia. What can i say? Early zealots are really strong.
Although this is broadcast on my channel, this is Blizzard's launch event and their decision what to do w the VOD. I'm not able to upload this to my own stuff. Frankly, I'm unsure why it isn't uploaded somewhere.

I believe it's Machine. At least during some of the matches it was.
Well used sure, but I agree, really modest and good use of it. Was afraid it would ruin the epicness like it did with sc2 for a while when lazy obs just showed the game zoomed out most of the time.
He declined the invitation according to these other guys. I would assume he's not interested in being in the public spotlight anymore (I think iNcontroL mentioned this on a separate occassion).
From what i am aware, its at an important time for his studies. So he didn't think it was worthwhile taking time off. At the moment his priorites are his studies.

I would say that it's a good call on his part. I'm sure being in the spotlight isn't that easy either.
I just happened to find this on air right now. I didnt know they were going to do this. Im just really happy to see all these guys together after all these years.
Now that I think about it it's a throwback to like, 7-8 years ago? Awesome... And that's just for me of course, for people who followed those guys back in BW it goes back way further...

I'm super bummed about the VOD situation. I didn't get the chance to watch the stream yesterday and was busy today as well, and I was expecting to at least be able to watch yesterday's stream today to start catching up. I hope they put it up eventually, I would hate to have totally missed the most notable brood war event in like five years.

If you're looking for specifically day9 and tastosis, of course not. They didn't cast much BW aside from ASL recently. If you're talking about foreign BW events, BW reunion which had a lot of older pros is one thing that comes to mind. There's also been a lot of notable Korean events but I disgress.
I think the lighting option turned off makes it looks much more like original BW, and would be better if used for the casted games. -- at lest to me with the lighting set on, it feels a bit weird and I think it may put off a lot of people. i.e my brother said that he just doesn't like how it looks and didn't want to watch it/play it, until I showed him the game with lightings being turned off.

I think it's pretty safe to say this is one of the funniest tournament-based livestreamed events that has ever taken place. And that's a rarer quality to find than just fun BW.
Congratulations to Ret on the win. No money but still nice to win a Tourney. Been a great time watching this in the last two days. Incontrol seemed a bit angry today but other then that it's been great.

It's 2017, it's almost 3 AM, and I'm happy and content. I think I'll never stop staying up 'til wee hours in the morning watching Starcraft for as long as there are tournaments.

If this were a worldwide launch party for a full priced game that was going to sell 30+ million copies then i could get picky and find stuff wrong with this event.
Considering: (1) Watching the event was free. (b) the event is based on the release of a $15 downloadable game localized in ~13 different languages/countries
Therefore, i think i got more than my money's worth with this event. Nice Event.

I couldn't watch it all because I was playing and also sleeping, but from what I saw I loved it.
One thing that I did figure out from this event though is that I really wish more of the foreign "legends" as it were would post more on TL and interact with the community more. Honestly, Legionnaire is by far my favourite foreign player purely because he does that. With people like Nick, Dan, Sean, Geoff and the other players there (apart from maybe Ret) they don't ever really directly interact with the community and I think that's one of the major issues and why the foreign community never took off.
Even previously they sort of all segmented themselves off into this little group that would all chat together and never to anyone else and it feels like it creates a huge disconnect between us and the players. Incontrol I guess streams and chats with his viewers and I guess that's the same for Day9, but the other players it feels like you'll never be able to directly interact with them and that sucks.
I guess that's what happens when people become "famous" online, they stop posting on community sites to protect their images/jobs and it creates like a rift. I wish you could've won the whole thing Legionnaire, you're awesome! Props to you for showing such great games :>
To everyone else, I hope more events happen like this and more of you interact directly with the community in order to change the old foreign broodwar community's "old boys club" mentality into something engaging to make more people want to get involved!

Which is silly, because nobody will care about foreign broodwar if there's such a huge disconnect.
There's a disconnect with the korean scene but that makes sense as there's a language barrier. There's no such barrier in the way of the foreign scene. It's small enough already without trying to create more disconnects. Maybe I should make a thread about this rather than talk about this here.

Well, just a couple of years ago I remember Tasteless streaming on Twitch let's plays of SNES roms and games for more a couple (?) of months.[0] It didn't seem like he was someone who would like to hide from communicating w/ the fans, but the opposite.

Why would they post here? People love to antagonize with "stars" all the time. Incontrol posted fairly often in the forums, and people were constantly shitting on him. And being a public figure is a job now, they can't "shitpost" or fool around in the community area anymore.
Anyway, it's was a great event, i had a blast. I went to sleep during the finals. Thanks Samba for the link for the Vod.

You don't need to shitpost to post on a forum. People with jobs also hang around with people all the time. There's nothing stopping them talking to people at all.

People do that to everyone and if it's on somewhere like TL there's mods for a reason to ban those people if they're being unreasonable.

i think Artosis has 3 kids and a wife now. i'm sure he has very limited free time. it was cool that Artosis made himself available at the grassroots level before he had 3 kids though. i think expecting him to regularly do grassroots stuff is expecting a bit much at his stage of life.
Also, for Artosis i think the signal-to-noise ratio of that kind of grassroots communication is pretty low. it needs to be structured like Cyan's interview of him for maximum usage of the scarciest resource of all: time.
Cyan provided great structured grassroots communication between "the community" and Artosis and kept the signal to noise ratio high.

You don't need to shitpost to post on a forum. People with jobs also hang around with people all the time. There's nothing stopping them talking to people at all.
His point still stands though. When Incontrol posts as an example he gets shit on. It would happen to other players as well. I can totally see why they don't post on forums often if at all. Lots of assholes that feel they have to let their opinion on how much they hate the guy is known.

Yes, these guys are spot on.
I grew up on TL (this is my 2nd account actually.. the other one was banned when I was a bit younger and more.. flamboyant with how I posted haha). I love discussing stuff. That said my experience posting on here is different than the average persons. I can't really get very far into a discussion without people doing everything they can to make it a miserable experience for me.
I appreciate what you are asking and I wish it were different Qikz but the mere fact you think me posting on a forum is virtually the same thing as anyone else means you are sadly very uninformed on this subject. I can tell you some of us still read TL though (me and a few others). Maybe some day..

Post on an alt? Or maybe all the famous BW personalities already do and we just don't know.
Now that the event is over. I had a blast. I got lucky as hell to be the observer for this event and I had just the greatest time. I even got to cast a bit. I think I did a pretty good job at it too
It was so awesome seeing how happy everyone was to just play, talk about, and hang out because of BW. Damn, I love this game.
Are we going to have to actively work to make sure a day 1 vod is made available? Blizzard doesn't seem interested in/able to post it, so who can we convince to leak it?
The dropdown menu showing 1v1 is pretty misleading, implying there are other modes as well... Was looking forward to playing 2v2 with my mates, hopefully this will get added soon.
I mean it's somewhat misleading especially if you look at tobai's mock screenshot for the planned UI. Some people thought that 1v1 ladder was only for the beta and that team matchmaking would be added later, but that was neither confirmed nor denied by Blizzard. I don't know what the blocker is for getting team matchmaking up and running, that was just conjecture on my part given that it's logical to not want to divide the playerbase especially if populations are small.

I respect that man and I hope you don't think I'm ragging on you guys, because I'm really not. I also hope you kind of get where I'm coming from too. I just feel it'd be a lot easier to enjoy foreign broodwar if it felt like my existance actually means something if you get what I mean. I can't possiblly understand what it's like to be some kind of community figurehead as I've never had that position and likely never will, but I know I and a good number of other people put in a lot of work to get people playing and enjoying the game.
For instance you have things like the CPL which lazersnipe and Jealous did an insanely good job of running and you have the various tournaments people run, but to me it's always felt like although we all do all of this sort of stuff there's like a barrier between all of us and you guys. I get why that barrier is probably there, but to me it's always felt like if we all want foreign broodwar to be a thing then the entire community needs to work together to make it happen. I guess maybe in a way I'm a little envious at the fact you guys are all such good friends and everyone looks up to you all. I don't mean to be, but it really sometimes feels that no matter how much effort and work people put into things, unless they're one of the big names from before then nobody seems to care. In a way there's two levels to it. You have you guys who are all the old guard and then just below that you have people like Bisudagger and Sayle who are still really active in the community.
Below that I'm not really sure what anyone is supposed to do which is why I've always felt having more of a connection between everyone would be great. I mean I'm going to keep doing what I do in the hopes that I can keep people interested as I have been for the past 5 years or so and I hope you guys all keep having fun and doing what you can, because you guys do really good work. It'd just be nice to hear directly from you all once in a while to get the community closer together.
In the end of it all I'm probably rambling like a lunatic right now due to the fact I'm so tired, but let's all do what we can to make as many people interested in watching and playing the game as possible, because at the end of the day that's the main thing! I'll try and articulate this better once I've got some sleep.

After thinking a little more about my previous post, the main point I want to make is this:
With the more "grass roots" stuff - such as CPL and other events for people who are not yet already foreign pros, it would be a huge help if people in the old guard even just tweeted about it to let people know it's happening and maybe help get more people watching. Smaller events need better exposure and currently it feels an event only gets watched if it's run by the old guard or Sayle/Bisudagger. I guess you could argue that it's because people don't want to watch lower level play, but then in all honesty those same people wouldn't watch anything but the Korean leagues.
All that needs to happen moving forward is for foreign events of all shapes and sizes getting more exposure. Geoff, if you for instance just tweeted to all your fans to let them know X tournament was happening and they should check it out then it takes little to no effort on your end (given the fact you said you still read TL and you will probably know about the events going on by the sidebar) and it gives the events a better chance of being successful as more people will be interested and might want to get involved.
Perhaps many people just don't know that these events are going on. ^^

Precisely this. He said on Reddit that it's Blizzard's event, they just asked to stream it on his channel and have him as a host/caster, but the VOD rights and everything else belongs to Blizzard not him.

Thank you everyone who tuned in!
You have done an excellent job! Way better than the Korean observer at GGtogether event in my opinion! Please keep the hard work and thank you very much!
They split them up into parts, but they missed the very beginning of the stream so there's some early banter that's missing. Apart from that it looks like everything is here.

maybe its a twitch limitation, aka max video size or something? Though I could've swore I've seen 4+ hours before in one video lol
Not a Twitch limitation, seen CSGO VODs from events that are 13 hours long or even longer. Might be a special agreement between Twitch and the event host, but you cannot tell me that a company as big as ActivisionBlizzard couldn't get such an agreement as well. I am pretty sure the splitting of the VOD is by choice, but I do not understand why or if they choose to do so, why not also upload the whole VOD. Wouldn't hurt, would it?

Nothing to do with special agreements; relatively small/medium speedrunner Adam_AK had a bunch of 10 hour VODs from his marathon stream trying to speedrun the entire campaign of Age of Mythology on Titan difficulty.
Watching VODs now. Really fun seeing these old legends playing with Tastosis and Day9 casting. They should have more events like this.
Day9 was telling a story about Draco smurfing as zerg in the wgtour ladder and then switching to protoss in the finals, but I think that was Smuft, unless it was an other event he was talking about: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/news-archive/6864-tl4-finals#1 Awesome read by Rekrul btw
Thanks I know, it's just that he said YouTube which made me curious. Day 2 on YouTube by Krucho is not edited as far as I can tell, just wish we could find day 1 unedited as well.
This was absolutely amazing. Seeing such a great game in HD and such great people talk about the game they loved virtually all of their life was a blast.

C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft\StarCraft.exe then press F5 when you enter the game. Else load up the bnet client and the game will be one of the options, and you can launch it directly there.
Im almost through all the vods on twitch, and I have to say, regardless of the rusted play, the games were entertaining and the banter was great. Especially funny was the Incontrol Leg and Nyoken impersonations and "Dan's thoughts" while playing and moving his face around. Draco and chewing that goldfish.
PS- there was recently a reddit thread regarding facial expressions on heavy focus tasks. Top comment was a speculation about trying to signal to others not to bother you via ingrained habit of facial smashing and contorting in early humans and so on.

there is a way to avoid pressing the f5 and having the remastered already after i launch BW?
