https://us.battle.net/forums/en/starcraft/topic/20758775973 Rob Cherry: "Thanks for making this post TT1. We're definitely aware of this being a problem, especially at higher ranks and are looking at ways to better tune the region expansion for various tiers of skill.
As mentioned, I've put in a rough fix that I could do on the fly that should make this more tolerable in the short term."
https://us.battle.net/forums/en/starcraft/topic/20758706289 Leviathan: "As you read in Rob's post, not permanent changes. It is a temporary "rough fix" to reduce the amount of time it takes to get into a match by opening the matchmaking to a larger pool of players. The trade off is matches with players that are further away.
And it will always be a tug of war between those two extremes: local players + longer wait times vs. distant players + shorter wait times. Not even SC2 or Wow are immune. It's a balance game to find the least of both evils. Whatever the case, Rob also said that it's actively being investigated and worked so to improve the system for everyone."
So why not add "server selection" in Ranked, like "Map Selection" to ban MM region?

A lot of people would just choose to not play vs Koreans, to try and climb the ladder more easily I fear.

I mean I guess you can measure how much ping makes "turn rate 8" still show hiccups at "high latency", or just calculate it.

Does it matter? In the grand scheme of things the ladder doesn't mean anything.
Beast ranked higher on ladder than Flash in the beta, does it mean he's better? No.

Maybe implemet a feature where the less players that queue in your MMR area, the more likely it is to match you against someone far away?

I consider myself to be a bw veteran, I mean, I know how to play the game but I am not excellent by any means. I am in korea so I have been playing vs koreans since the beginning and I struggle to keep a 50% winrate to even keep me at the original 1500 mmr. I don't even want to imagine how noobs are gonna get CRUSHED till they hit sub 500 points and then be able to play with people of their actual skill level. But isn't this gonna be incredibly demoralizing for most people? Koreans at 1500 are still so fucking good. I constantly play against players with 300+ apm at 1500 and even sub 1500. How is someone with sub-100 apm gonna do? Not very good would be my bet.
