Many of you appreciate the TLPD on a daily basis but have never seen the ORIGINAL TLPD. in January 2007 manifesto7 made a public thread looking for help to start a new stats project. Me and Thedeadhaji volunteered and we decided we would start collecting stats and recording EVERYTHING into a massive excel file. We shared this file back and forth via MSN and upload space...what a travesty we were lol.
Anyways, here are some highlights from early TLPD ^-^.
+ Show Spoiler + To: Manifesto7 Subject: Database Update Date: 2/3/07 14:00 Mani
This is just a sitrep as to the work haji and i have been doing for the database.
Currently i've been covering all the day to day matches as he works backwards through his massive stockpile of VODs.
From this, i envision us taking all that raw data and doing a table on Map Win:Loss ratio, as well as individual player ratios. We looked into other means of acquiring all this data, but its turned out easier just to do it from scratch.
Just for shits and giggles we've been recording player colours and theres some wierd corrolations. i.e Yellow beats purple
Haji will pass onto you the most up to date version of what we have, when he finishes the back log of vods.
Thanks
Kennigit
We were recording colors and positions and trying to figure out color imba 0_o LOL! Yellow always beats purple. Teal beats white!
+ Show Spoiler + To: thedeadhaji Subject: Re: Database...the saga continues Date: 1/25/07 21:08 agreed. So going through the tourney's threads is probably my best bet for getting this data fast... should we split it up in six month incriments and meet at the end?
would you mind uploading an updated version of your excel file...assuming its been changed from the version you had before
+ Show Spoiler +Oh and i think those columns look good.
Only thing i can think of is a) perhaps combine the 3 date columns at begining b) Game length we could convert to actual times so rather than 17.98333 mins we would have 17:58
At this point Haji had EVERY VOD from like 2 years passed on his harddrive so i was updating current games/leagues and he was working from the back. We were watching every VOD to get colours, positions and winner/loser....keep in mind this was before the small VOD thread so we were club boxing this lololol.
+ Show Spoiler + To: thedeadhaji Subject: Re: misc stats on database Date: 3/14/07 04:56 I was thinking about this in class today also - mainly about how it was going to be implemented into the website but that would be in the hands of the programmers to modify the excel sheets as needed.
For Map sheet: When i visioned for it, i thought that we have this huge amount of data, lets put it into layman's terms so someone can go "oh hitchhiker this last season was really pro terran in t" etc. We could have average game length for match ups. # of matches would be pretty valuable too so there is a basis for what the relation is being founded on.
Given new maps being added to the proleague season, and most likely new ones for the star leagues, its probably easiest just to append those as they come.
Im missing the OSL games from Jan 24 and 29th and had just deleted them off my hd when you messaged me about them. Hopefully you have those.
From Here: Could you send me the most up to date version of the db? For almost all the recent games i did, i didn't put links to threads/news and would like to do that now if you want to start on map data.
We should probably get into talking with whoever is doing this server side, because some ideas like implementing league and map stats together could be done through programing .
see what you think kennigit
We then realized a massive Xcel file was a TERRIBLE IDEA! We got PoP involved who somehow coded the whole thing in like a week and a half or something with some design input from us honkeys (just kidding haji is japanese and not a honkey)
Added bonus for those who will understand this lol + Show Spoiler +To: Qi.TiGeR Subject: Re: TLTour links popping up Date: 4/15/07 17:04 Ok great. Yeah i rememeber the thread that was out about getting beta testers and wasn't sure how tightly it was locked. It sounds (and looks) awesome though; some really good work you guys have done on it Kennigit ----------------------------------------- Original Message: All appreciated. We technically leaked a little to the public so they could try out themselves and see if they can catch a bug. we tested over anod over and so far resutls are good.the only complain was the anti hack was a little heavy so we modified to a slightly faster but scaled down anti hack - still works much stronger than bwl. so in a way it benefitted us. when our beta season arrives we dont want our gamers to lose confidence seeing the mess of what carrier has produced and also it was using a backward system. in short it should be perfect. its cool. thanks for your concern. in 2 weeks we are expected to make a launch all depends on mani who is leading the admin decisions. ----------------------------------------- Original Message: Mani Qi.Tiger Im not really sure what you want to do with this but ill just put it out there. I guess links to the TLTour are starting to pop around. There is a link in s.pg)nico profile to it and berated in sc2 chat was asking me what i thought of it o.0. He's keeping it quiet but thought it was a leak also. If this is not a big deal then thats cool, i just wasn't sure the status of the project http://ugtour.servegame.com/news.php?id=32I figured id let you both know so that you can deal with it as you see fit. I dont like being a "rat" but id rather the the integrity of the project kept if thats your goal. Thanks Kennigit
Im trying to find the "newest" version of that xcel file we had...i know i kept it for history purposes but haji deleted his ;_;.
But yeah hope you can appreciate the stupid amounts of time people do on these things lol. (Note this is not related the the TL evolving thing, we just had some set backs and i wanted to make myself feel better with some nostalgia!)

I love the TLPD, just thought I'd say that before asking:
Does fomos or some other korean pro-gaming site actually have something comparable to the TLPD (ofc in korean, just wanted to see a layout to compare to).

Which colors are imba these days? Also, you should figure out how much better using shit+tab makes you at SC by how many more wins those players have than those who don't use it. =D

YGosu has a database but not as good either. Both are more a record or who one etc...TLPD is much more beefy.

/pride.
I'm actually quite astounded how much goes into it. As a novice coder (used to do DKP for a raiding guild ^_^; myself I find it very, very nice. I can't think of much to add outside of possibly an wiki element to it, in such that the Biography section has some more leniant measures on who can edit it.

If you wrote one, and pm'd a mod, I bet that they would use it. They might even let you have credit for it as well

I'm quite afraid I've only followed Pro-gaming for the recent years. Though, I wouldn't feel as bad if there was a moderator just in charge of that wiki-like component of the TLPD

Also, TLPD is seriously fucking awesome. I always feel so smart when someone says something about sc, and I'm trying to make a point, I always go look at TLPD to get cold hard facts before I make a fool out of myself.

Go Light[aLive]! You can still do it!

Lol Featured threads: NokCha's SC drawings. Pretty cool imo.
Hmm, I never knew that the TLPD was so recent, if I had come to TL much sooner it wouldn't have been there. Good to know what went into making this site, most of it we just take for granted.

you guys are the best haha

Oh what you had colors? This information would be sooo useful today :-(
I vote we go back to the Excel file, seems much more powerful.

If you had direct access to the database, it would be much more powerful. Excel wouldn't work very well with the number of linked sheets that you would need.
