Ruby's game against Hoejja to be considered a 'forfeit loss' after 'gg' incident Ruby received a warning, and game to be recorded as a 'forfeit loss'
An incident that goes against the rule of 'typing out' has finally occurred after the rule's implementation starting 11th of April.
MBCGame's Ruby typed out 'ww' in the game against Hoejja in the 2009 MSL Survivor Tournament Season 1 Group 2 Game 2 on the 16th, with resulted in a warning and having the match being recorded as a 'forfeit loss'. (T/L note: Not a disqualification)
Ruby played an intense game with Hoejja, but made a mistake by typing 'ww' when he was going to admit his defeat. Players up til now has often used 'ㅈㅈ' ( Korean keyboard's 'ww' ) to express their acceptance of defeat, and this incident seems to have occurred due to their habit of typing in the said manner. There were not many players who were concerned about the rule after the rule was implemented.
After the 'zizi yO incident', only the 'gg' message was accepted as a sign of good manner, in which the rule was present in the Winner's League, and then implemented into all leagues after the start of Proleague's Round 4.
According to the rules, they only accept 'gg' or 'GG' as a message of admitting defeat, and 'no other messages other than 'gg', 'GG' and 'ppp' can be typed, and failure to comply (typing ㅎㅎ, ㅈㅈ, zizi, etc) will result in the game being recorded as a 'forfeit loss', and the player will receive warnings. This rule was implemented after a meeting with all the progaming teams' executives.
This rule will not only be implemented into the Proleague, but OSL and MSL, as well as all other official matches. The losing player must clearly state 'gg' or 'GG' as a clear indication of his acceptance of defeat.
This 'forfeit loss' will not be counted towards the map's official records as it will not be considered as a 'properly ended game'. However, it will be recorded into the player's overall records. Also, a second warning will result in a meeting with the disciplinary committee as well as disciplinary action.

Doesn't 'ww' happen when Koreans forget to switch to english signs?
So, it's basically an accidental mistake to type 'ww' (unlike 'zizi yo')?
|
What a bullshit seriously? I think its good that you may not write gg/ww/... when you win, but you should be allowed to write what you want when you lose. (Note: "what you want" aka gg, GG, ww, ziziyO" etc.)
This is just stupid, lol.

Well, on the first view, it's kinda stupid. On the other hand you have to fix a limit. and it's very rational to fix it at "gg/GG".
When you don't fix a limit you could also type out with stuff like "bg" or "sex sex pussy hair" or anything else.
Or you need to have a committee which discuss borderline cases. (which is also stupid - which means, it's really the easiest to fix it at "gg")
Also the punishment wasn'r really that bad.

Are progamers really that dumb enough to type 'sex sex pussy hair' when the Internets are no longer hiding their identity, and when they are playing live in front of the nation? They too will be rational and know their own limits, and the furthest they have gone to is leaving without typing anything. Think about it. What's so bad about typing 'ㅈㅈ' and 'gg' when everyone knows it means the same thing, and is nothing rude?

ok maybe some ppl aruge about zizi yo
but i think ww is ok (in korean )

I can understand them limiting it to a few options. What I don't get why they don't allow the most common ones, including ww.
Also, wouldn't a warning be enough? Seriously - he typed ww - followed by gg. Just a mistake - no one got hurt. Even from an admins perspective this is just a bit to severe.

Seriously, if KeSPA wants to discourage premature GGing a freaking 'If you prematurely GG you will suffer a forfeit loss' rule would make way more sense then this bullshit.

WTF they all mean the same thing in the end. Pointless rule is pointless.
I can see it now, the OSL Grand Finals, Player x is winning in an epic Game 5 clash. Player Y types out after losing the last epic battle and player x responds with a "ww/zizi/etc." Player x instantly forfeit loses, robbing him of his OSL 1st Place while giving Player Y a win that wasn't deserved. ITS PERFECT YEAH!
EDIT: DAMN I was beaten to the punch by fusionsdf.
|
This is really stupid. Why do they even bother with this? Is it because they're afraid people will write disrespectful stuff? What about the winning player dancing around the losing player to ridicule him? And the winning player drawing a pylon shaped heart in the center of the map? :p How dumb.
|
new strat: lose the game, then when most people would normally tap out, request a pause with "ppp". hope your opponent responds "ww" and thus forfeits the game.

Well thats why you don't reply back to opponents "gg". Why would you? he typed and most likely already gone that game and camera is not showing game anymore. So for winner I see no point typing "gg" and losing game if typing it wrong.

This all seems like a massive overreaction upon Kespa's part to me. I feel sorry for Chanki having to deal with this when it's such a trivial matter. As for the lack of dancing - yes, sadly the new rules have toned ceremonies down to nothing more than the odd gesture and usually it's only a bow. It's a real shame because it's taken the vibrancy out of photographing moments like that for me.
All other esports I've attended still allow ceremonies/opening ceremonies and other entertainment. Dungeon and Fighter has toned itself down slightly, but the players still do a lot of funny things like dress up in costumes (heck 4th league had a whole team dressed as women!) do dances and use props. It's a million times more interesting to shoot than a player bowing -_-
It's also a million times more entertaining to watch live than a player bowing - yes it's nice to see sportsmanship and create a nice atmosphere in gaming events, but the rivalry, the competition and the tension that ceremonies perfectly illustrated were also a big part of the fun and diversity of the scene here in Korea.
It's only been a year, but at some events I do feel myself thinking - I miss the old days.

I am happy that KeSPA does something to force players to follow rules. I was shock how they dealt Firefist vs Backho issue. Mainly KeSPA should do their decisions alone and not talking to players when they make decisions. Why? Players only option is to be mannered usually (aka accept loss even if they would had chance to win). Now blame goes to KeSPA not to players. So when there is tricky situation, you can't blame on players anymore.

Since this ruling has no effect on the outcome of RuBy-HoeJJa, it really only makes sense as a power play from KeSPA.
What irks me about this rule is that, though it was clearly inspired by the "zizi yo incident", it does nothing to prevent similar incidents in the future - it's just as possible (easier, even) for a winning player to accidentally type "gg" as it is for him to type "zizi yo". Given this, the entire rule seems like complete garbage.
What KeSPA needed was a protocol for handling situations in which one player accidentally types out (they still don't have one), not a rule about how that player should type out. What the fuck.
Screw KeSPA.
|
This is idiotic. Good manners is not something to be enforced by an official rule. Manners are nice, but not required in any circumstance. Kespa is really overstepping their boundaries in my opinion.

I'd say that players had plenty of time to practice how they type it. KeSPA seems to be fair not giving disqualification right away, only forfeit and warning. It wasn't that bad considering he can still play next matches.

Umm... is it really that important that you write exactly "gg"? I don't think so :s And I'm pretty sure that's the whole issue here.
Someone above said they "had to draw the line somewhere". Well why not just do that the logical way: sanction behavior that is deemed offensive or humiliating. And going from there, they could just use some common sense. Is typing "ww" before leaving offensive? No Is typing insults offensive? Yes

This is a lame rule, I'm not sure about other peoples keyboards but I have to convert mine to english to when I play sc the game can respond to the hotkeys then convert back to type in korean. If thats the case with the progamers, it would be difficult to switch back and forth and having to realize which language you're typing in.

Its not that big of a deal to me. Its a dumb rule, but many rules are. The best way I think for them to do this is to be lenient on obviously mannered stuff- ww-, but have the rule in place in case somebody ends with "FUCKING CHEESING NOOB" or such.
