A while back there was a post about a Chiense show that's basically the Chinese verison of B.net Attack, with top Chinese pros facing off people from the internet.
Newest episode just came out, and it features none other than F91! View it here:
So yeah, this is the face of the F91 that has been terrorizing Liquibition ^^
Most of the fun from these shows comes from the banter that goes on between the players and the host, but even if you don't know Chinese, you can still see a FPVOD of F91 in the show =]
I'm still in the process of watching it, you get to see F91 play Terran in the first game =P

No one would know only Taiwanese and not Mandarin, at that, the Chinese was obviously referring to nationality, are you trying to suggest that Canton and Taiwan are sovereign nations?

No, he was saying that anytime someone says "Chinese version" it means Mandarin, not Cantonese or some other dialect. It has nothing to do with nationality.

Although my mandarin is out of practice, here are some translation notes that i thought were interesting:
Random Translation Notes: - zergs are literally "insect/bug tribe" - toss are "god tribe" - drones are "farmer/peasants" - F91 also says at one point that he feels its a compliment when ppl call him a cheater (maphacker) - mutas are "flying dragons" - hydras are "mouth water" or "spit" - lings are "dogs" - when drones attack, they "touch" - vultures are "thunder cars" - hp = "blood" - sci vessels are "technology balls" (mind out of gutter plz) - starport = airport - F91 checks the replay (when plays terran) cause he said the mutas are coming too fast - lol they talk about july zerg making a comeback against the tank rush and ask f91 to do the same - XD @ f91 being so boastful then getting pwnd

And this is the first time I've ever seen F91. I don't pay much attention to the scene outside of Korea (partly because I'll never be a big part of it ), but wow...
There's 3 guys yes? F91 is the guy next to the computer? It seems like the people post like F91 is the fat guy with the really tight button shirt.
Second of all. The game he created seems like he created from a LAN? And each player has a Lv next to their name. Lv 1 Lv17 Lv5 IS this on a chinese server that I don't know about?

Yeah F91's the guy next to the computer in red. I don't really see how he dresses that badly o_O
The fat guy in the shirt is a commentator in China. He occasionally comes on streams that TL watches when people relay yaoyuan/etc. streams and incites a lot of hate xD
The games are on a Chinese server called "VS," where instead of iCCup's letter rank system they use numeric ranks, with higher being better obviously. There's really only two servers in China, so I don't see how if you follow Chinese SC at all you wouldn't know about VS.

If you're referring to Taiwanese as the dialect everyone speaks in Taipei and such, you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.
The difference is almost as large as the difference between English and Spanish. Sure, there are lots of words you can pick up on the other language, but once someone starts speaking rapidly in sentences, you can't understand a fucking word.

I think hes referring to the official language instead of the dialect itself.

All the games i've watched of F91 so far he has lost.. i still gotta say the hosts and F91 himself are pretty damn entertaining though. I was cracking up before the stream buffered and again when one got the cigarette smacked out of his hands.

Sure there may be a sizeable population of people in Taiwan who speak Taiwanese and not Mandarin, but this number is tiny relative to the number of people who speak both and who speak Mandarin. When someone says "this program is in Chinese" it's assumed it's Mandarin, because 99% of Chinese people speak Mandarin and not Taiwanese. He was responding to the one guy who assumed that "Chinese" meant "Taiwanese or Cantonese" which is a bad assumption. If the OP meant Taiwanese or Cantonese, it would say "Taiwanese version of Bnet attack". When someone says "Chinese version of X" and X is some sort of TV show, the language used is almost always Mandarin.
That's all he was saying. There's no need to get all defensive or up in arms about Taiwanese independence, nobody was even talking about that. Let's stay on topic and keep the political crap out of this thread. Thanks.

I hope you're not referring to me, as I knew full well that F91 spoke Mandarin. I was joking that for a split second the word Chinese gave me the feeling of familiarity in the midst of the Korean videos. I don't feel like my post assumed that Chinese auto -> Taiwanese or Cantonese (which is the strangest statement, I would not even think of that o_O).
EDIT: I can't believe that my one little post caused so much commotion. I apologize =/
I just finished watching the first VOD where F91 played two games as TvZ on Sin Chupung Ryeung. He opened both games with an FE variant--first game was 15 CC, gas, acad., 3 rax; second game was gas, expo, fact.-> vultures with mines, then golis. In both games he got stomped by a fast hydra -> muta build that left him and the commentators a bit like wtf.
They watched the replay of the second game, where zerg went against T mech, and the build the zerg did looked something like: 12 hatch, 13 gas, lair, hydra den about 1/3 of way into lair, 6 hydras (NO UPGRADES), spire.
The games both played out like so: zerg puts on some pressure against the T before he has any real units with hydra, and then it feels like almost immediately follows-up with mutas, which can either be used separately (hydras go for expo, while mutas harass main) or together (as in first game where mutas buy time for hydras to walk up ramp and then muta-hydra together in main = gg). Or, as in the second game, the zerg bought time with the hydras until mutas came (there were about 9-11 mutas, I'm guessing) which were able to inhibit goliath and turret growth, and then the zerg transitioned into lurkers, which forced a gg because F91 as T had no acad./scanner and only like 3 goliaths.
As a Z player, I'm eager to try this on iCCup. Hydras are underrated vs. marine-medic, and even though the Z lost two hydras to a single mine in the second game, just four hydras harassing expo was difficult enough to get rid of for a mech T with only a few vults and waiting for golis to come out. The muta transition is perfect, especially if it catches the T off-guard, and the final lurker transition is icing on the cake. Obviously Z economy is going to suffer but with the amount of damage the build can do, even if the Z can't force a gg I'm sure it'll be about even. Thoughts from a T?

Oops. sorry Hot Bid, I myself was trying to communicate your emboldened point also but I guess I failed.
PLU has always been 10x more entertaining than PGL or whatever because the commentators aren't so serious about the game. They just end up making fun of the players and making jokes. They also did this with LoveTT first, so this series is pretty entertaining. Too bad they don't have the PLU leagues, afaik.
And I don't even understand why this is about language... It's pretty obvious that the "Chinese" in the title meant the country. As in this is like BNet Attack, but from China instead of Korea.

There was a small tag that has the names. The one on the right in suits is "PLU_FRIEND" and the one on the left in pink and shades is "PLU_SANPAO" (literally, three cannons; and I assume PLU or FLU or w/e is a clan tag of some sort). F91 is in front of the computer in red, obviously.
I'm F91. Today I will show you how guso pwns nubs.
F91 trash talks so hard, but sometimes he gets owned because most of the time he only sends 3 drones to mine at the start, and uses the 5th morphed drone to kill the idle 4th and then play from there.
In ZVP and ZVT this isn't a HUGE deal, however he loses when he does this pretty often in ZVZ because every drone is vital in ZVZ especially in the beginning.
It's pretty entertaining to watch plus I learned the Chinese SC terms for various units and strategies, only bad thing is they host the videos on Youku which is based in China and the stream is pretty slow -_-
This is so hilarious lol, plus i never knew F91 was so cocky, he seemed pretty gm to me, specially compared to Idra and Nony. Dunno, maybe it's because of his lack of english knowledge, but i always expected a proxy hatch or something from him.

I haven't watched the whole thing but the host tells F91 to forfeit a drone each time F91 swears. Hence the result.

In the video, when the commentators told hm to taunt his opponent, F91 refused to do so because he said something like "we are all a part to the SC player community and we have to love and respect each other".

well...you must have missed 90% of his comments then... :|
i know he's doing it for the humour and it works, but you can't say he's carrying himself in a dignified manner.
lol there's this part where he says: "Yea people accuse me of cheating all the time, but I think they're wording it wrong. They mean it as a compliment to me. "
I downloaded all videos, in fact 7 in total. I tried to upload them to youtube, but I experienced the 10min limitation. anybody has other suggestions? I'd really want to share these videos to the sc community. Thank you!
I just dont know how to split a 30mins video into three 10mins videos. I hate youtube 10min limitation. its just very unfair and waste of space.. I can only transfer the videos to someone and let him upload.

lol the banter between f91 and the commentators is really funny.
when he kills his drones to give himself a handicap, he says something like "i can't help it, i'm too strong" or "the opponent is too weak, i have to give him some chance".
when terran has a strong marine medic tank force at his door and he muta micros to pick off medics, the commentators go "do you have something against women?" and f91 replies "she is not a woman, she is the enemy."
in the zvz, he says something like "this is a movie, there is already an ending, and that is me winning." and when he starts losing, "this might be a tragic ending"

a lot funnier in mandarin. enemy is 敌人 'di ren' = hostile person. woman is 女人 'nu ren' = female person.
.. well I guess you kinda had to be there... and understand the language.

Lots of over-the-top banter and stuff tasteless would never get away with on gom.
If they knew the clips would be posted on TL, I believe they would not talk like that

Well it's fairly apparent to everyone with the tone of the show and all that it's really harmless trash talk, since it's so absolutely over-the-top that it transcends BM of lesser players, resulting in a good time being had by all. Some people just can't take that kind of thing, though. When danielman said the f-word on the gom stream some comments were like 'wooaaaaaaaah you said a naughty wordddddd'
As for me, I loved it, couldn't stop laughing the entire show. If someone is willing to sub it, I don't mind translating at least one episode, as long as it doesn't include timing.

you should watch the game on tau cross with f91 at 10 vs terran at 5. excellent game, with f91 showcasing some fantastic muta micro to come back from a very difficult position. i think it was in the third episode.
LX episodes are funny as hell. At first he was all confident and the other two dudes were kissing butts saying how great he is then all of the suddent he finds that he can't micro out of a ling battle vs a random. then one dude said "F91!" then the camera zoom to LX's face LOOOL.
after 0 - 3 vs the misery zerg (F91), they had to put captions like they find from rep that the player is most like F91 in style lool asif saving Lx's face.
During the 3 games, the commentators were being bitches and asking LX if he is scared of F91 or now loool, can you win can you win LOL
then 4th game LX went zerg and finally was about to win then the BC appeared LOOL

I don't mind if it's the translation that takes time, but does using a program or whatever itself take a lot of time? Like a lot of annoying technical stuff...?
Oh god haha watching episode 3, and they talk about F91 v Idra and stuff. (This was filmed before F91 v kOs so they talk a bit about that too, and Liquibition).
Good job. But all of them look tired in the 3rd, after recording the show for 5 hours at midnight btw: I suggest updating the post and the title synchronously.

he did say that kal is "not that special". He also mentioned that stork's scouting probe can only survive a max of 15 seconds in his base. However the context under which the kal comment was made should be taken into account. When he said it, he meant it in the sense that since everyone expects korean pros to be so much better than the rest of the players, he expected to see a bigger gap in skill in his games vs stork/kal, but he didn't see it and he was even able to take games off them that why he doesn't feel that kal is that great.

f91 qualified for the seattle wcg but his visa was denied. This has become a joke among fans whenever he tries to go out of country people think he will have visa problems.
in the introduction when they interview f91 befoer the game started, they talked about some teammate of f91 who practice on this muta vs scourge costume map where the map requires the player to keep making units off 3 hatcheries in the same time microing the mutalisks. They said the guy practices from 10am to 4am every day till he kill over 10billion scourges. : )
