YEAAAH ACE 2 GAME WINNING STREAK!
Inteviews! + Show Spoiler [Interview with GoRush] +GoRush: "I learnt a lot after joining ACE." "I am happy that we have achieved a winning streak." Air Force ACE's GoRush defeated Pure in their match against WeMade FOX held on the 6th of May 2009 at the Yongsan e-Sports Indoor Stadium, and succeeded in continuing his own winning streak, as well as contributing to his team's win today, which ended with his team going on a winning streak. The following is the interview with GoRush. - You and your team are on a two-game winning streak. ▲ I am very happy. I am happy that I am on a two game winning streak, as well as our team being on a two-match winning streak. Including our previous game, I was the first player to win for each match, so I am even more happy. - How was your match today? ▲ I researched a lot on Pure. And Pure played as how I expected him to play, and because I prepared a build that works strong against Pure's playing style, I was confident in winning. I kept thinking from the moment the game started that this game was mine to take. On Medusa and Neo Medusa, there is a limit to what the Protoss can do. I think that Zergs have learnt to adapt to Protoss' playing style on this map completely as they kept on playing on the same map for a long time. - Your higher-ranked officers praised you a lot. ▲ I don't think the team's morale got better just because I joined the team. ACE was originally a team with players with great skills, but after I joined, I produced results, which was why the higher-ranked officers worked even harder to produce such good results. - Is there any secret to how you adapted so fast into the team and produced such good results within a short period of time? ▲ I think it's very complicated. It was my sheer will, as well as my desire to win every single match I get to play in ACE because of not being able to play often while being in SKT1. Also, I was the captain when I was in SKT1, so I got too high and mighty, but after being enrolled into the army, my status in the society became nothing. I can't say everything, but I learned a lot while undergoing training at the academy. I now think that nothing is impossible, and that anything is possible as long as I try. - Any final words? ▲ The build I used today was originally invented by Sergeant OversKy. It is a great, complete build so I am glad that he passed on the strategy to me. Also, I would like to thank Seniors DaezanG and Anytime, as well as this person called 'Seok Tae Soo' who helped me with practice late into the night.
+ Show Spoiler [Interview with The Mantoss] +Mantoss: "The time will come when old players will dominate once more." "Even I am looking forward to the 4 Great Kings tournament." Air Force ACE's Mantoss defeated Otter Terran in their match against WeMade FOX held on the 6th of May 2009 at the Yongsan e-Sports Indoor Stadium. The following is the interview with The Mantoss. - You finally defeated Nada in an official match after facing each other for the first time in 3 years and 6 months. ▲ Whenever I played against Nada, I always felt that I was the one being pushed around. That was how many times I lost so disappointingly or lost in mindgames, so I tried to take the advantage right from the start and I'm glad that the results turned out to be good. Also, we finally faced each other after a long time, and I'm glad that I shortened our head-to-head score difference. Because whenever the former '4 Great Kings' face each other, there is a lot of excitement from the fans, and that makes playing so much more fun. - How was your match today? ▲ Even up til yesterday, I did not completely decide on which build to use. Nada's freestyle play is very strong so I hesitated a lot, and eventually I chose on playing with the concept of 'standard play'. I did not anticipate Nada to siege up at the center of the map and expand there, but I knew that I can not allow him to take that expo and continuously attacked him. I slowly accumulated points from the center engagements, and slowly I knew that I had won. - A few words regarding your team's winning streak. ▲ Since my admittance into ACE, it is the first time the team has gone on a winning streak. Our team's morale has gone up high ever since Private GoRush joined our team. I think our team's morale has never been so high before, and I feel really glad. We can definitely feel the effects of the synergies (between all the players). Although we cannot guarantee that we can continue our winning streak, our team will not as easy-to-win as it used to be. - After your 100 wins, your score was 'reset' and today's your 'first' win. ▲ I try to smile often nowadays. I want to smile not only because I feel good, but also because I want to be optimistic. Despite how small such details may be, I believe they reflect my gameplay. I am working hard so that even if I do lose a match, I will make sure it does affect my next game. If I keep this up, I can slowly accumulate another 100 wins. - A word to other 'old' progamer as an 'old' progamer. ▲ The ones who were called 'The 4 Great Kings' - Private YellOw, Nada and Boxer hyung have all been showing good progress recently, and I believe that if I work hard as well, the days when we reigned supreme will come once again. - Any final words? ▲ I think that my fans like me even more because I am consistently winning and smiling more. I will continue to produce great games and will continue to smile and laugh. Also, Private ClouD and kkong from MBCGame helped with practice for today's match, and I would like to thank them.
+ Show Spoiler [Interview with Casy] +Casy: "I really wanted to win." "After the new recruits joined, our team's morale went up high." Air Force ACE's Casy defeated RorO in their match against WeMade FOX held on the 6th of May 2009 at the Yongsan e-Sports Indoor Stadium. The following is the interview with Casy. - You showed great micro and won the game. ▲ I am happy that I won but I don't think I micro-ed well. - Your thoughts on your game today. ▲ Actually I prepared a 1 rax cc build. But the winning rate wasn't good, so I changed my build at the last moment. I really wanted to win, so I wanted to do an all-in rush regardless of how I do it. But my opponent canceled his hatchery at the expansion so in the end it became a standard game. I had experience playing off one-base against FireFist, so I fought hard. - Your Marine & Medic micro was outstanding. ▲ Usually the games I play end up being macro games so it becomes difficult for me to micro, but playing off one-base helped me to focus better on micro. However, my desired micro still isn't showing on live matches. - What was your reason for wanting to win so badly? ▲ There were many reasons. If course it was so that our team will win, and also I once lost to RorO after I made a huge mistake and he made a comeback. That is why, just this once, I didn't want to lose. I wanted to make up for that day's loss with today's win. - What is the reason for your team's recent high morale? ▲ It goes without saying that with the arrival of Private GoRush and Private XellOs, our team's morale changed for the better. Our team's morale was very low as we kept on losing, but when the new recruits joined us, due to many reasons, our morale totally changed. - Is it because your lives became more comfortable after the new recruits joined? ▲ I don't know about our team's record, but I think that is one of the main reasons. When new recruits join us it's really fun. Private GoRush is very adaptive, so even while living in the army, he lives his life to the fullest that I can say it's almost perfect. - Any final words? ▲ I want to thank Samsung Khan's Rarity and SKT1's Thezerg who helped me with practice late into the night yesterday. I will work hard to produce exciting games in the OSL that will definitely not disappoint my fans.

Thank you konadora, we love you.
I have to say, seeing ACE do well fills me with joy. The new recruits have really turned ACE around. And speaking of new recruits, anyone know when Xellos will be joining the team bench?

Oh wow thats really soon. Looking forward to seeing how he does, ACE could seriously use some more depth in their terran lineup. Poor Casy has to do it all by himself atm.

So Casy's basically saying we ain't seen nothing yet.

Every time ACE plays, it's like seeing an all-stars match. The Old Guard will rise again!!

What honesty from someone who is truly a remarkable player. Gorush fighting!

Awesome, thank you for the translation!

Ace is on fire man, 2 win streak is huge for them. Glad to see old players taking games again, especially Reach taking a game from Nada.

Bahahaha Casy doesn't think he microed well? WTF does he call good micro, killing 8 lurkers with 6 Marines without losing one or something?
Anyone notice that all these ACE interviews lately have been crediting players from other teams for helping them practice? That seems new to me, I wonder if they just recently convinced someone with authority that they needed more diverse practice partners and got something setup. Either way, really love seeing the old schoolers putting up great games and winning lately.

Yeah that was something I noticed as well. They seem to be getting more access to more practice partners, which is good!

Sick, thanks for the speedy translations as usual konadora.
I'm really excited to see ACE getting competitive in PL - for a long time, they really looked out of place in the league. Hopefully their performance will encourage other bottom-feeders to step it up, too. ACE fighting!
And good luck to Casy/GoRush in the OSL!!

Haha, I seriously think that ACE will be a strong team, and will really be in the top half of the league once the new season starts.

If their new recruits perform well this is possible, but top half of the PL is really pretty tough...I'm a doubter.

God they're just so loveable. ^^ <3 Nice to see their spirits soared.

GoRush has always been one of my favorite players. I'm really happy to see him succeeding so well and in such good spirits (especially after his stagnation in SKT T1 lately). That he's bringing about a vitalization of ACE is great news for everyone, especially since with Boxer's departure one could well have imagined that ACE would fall even further from lack of morale and leadership.
Thanks for yet another translation, konadora!

They've also had the luxury of playing both eSTRO and WeMade already...but I don't think they can keep up their current winrates regardless. GoRush and Casy have been especially hot lately - I'm not saying they're going to bomb, but realistically it will be really hard for them to keep up their R4 winrates for the remainder of the PL season.

Good work on the translations.
|
I can't believe how well they've been doing lately. It's so exciting~
|
The biggest difference i see from the old and new ace is that the new ones seem to really enjoy playing the game, together. Working for the same purpose, not just winning, but playing good.
Just like GoRush said, getting stripped of your old position and finding yourself in a new environment with a positive vibe and the chance to be a frontman again is probably the best thing that could happen to them. They don't have to fight for space or use their oldskool / famous status to separate themselves from the younger ones. It's just them now. Their own styles, charisma and way of playing. You can see it in all their games.
Great stuff. I wish them all the best.

Great interviews.
I honestly haven't seen reach play that good since 2005.
Kondora, what was the 'tone' of casy when he was saying "my micro wasn't good'. Was it just overly humble b/s or was he being serious?
Thanks again for the fast/great interviews!

They are getting very good results with low tier practice partners, or by practicing against each other.
sick.

Really great to see them doing well. Who can root against ACE, honestly?
Thanks for (all) the translations, konadora!

The following is the MY interview with The Mantoss.
- Your incredibly manliness knows no bounds. ▲ I...wait. Was that a question?
- Sorry. How is it you are the sexiest man on Earth? ▲ I think perhaps I should go.
- Please have my babies. ▲ ...
|
- You showed great micro and won the game. ▲ I am happy that I won but I don't think I micro-ed well.
|
If you think ACE is doing well now, just wait until they can start playing XellOs.
|
The ones who were called 'The 4 Great Kings' - Private YellOw, Nada and Boxer hyung have all been showing good progress recently, and I believe that if I work hard as well, the days when we reigned supreme will come once again.
Epic ~~.

Yea that comment made the nostalgia loving rabbit inside me jump/hop/leap with joy (yes I kill rabbits and devour them when I read Ace articles).

Reach's interview is so manly. And he looks so... badass in the picture.
Casy's "I microed badly" is really cute.

I think he really meant it despite trying to be humble. I wonder what his 100% micro potential is.
And it's konadora

Thanks for the interviews. ^_^
Casy's micro was kind of sloppy though... and by "kind of sloppy" I mean "wouldn't make it into a Casy highlight video", not, you know, actually anything other than good.

Yeah but the fact that we haven't seen any micro of such sort in such a long time made us go wild with excitement. Especially since it's Casy's TvZ.

great work as always konadora and many thanks!

Thanks Konadora. Ace playing well really helps the competition, so sad other teams are underperforming badly. However they really deserve a hat off because theyr tranning schedule is more limited and they are often refered as the free win.

Wow. My impression on this forum is that old player is considered too slow to keep up with the younger players, and that they will never dominate again. But here's a progamer who thinks the opposite. So it's pretty cool. Hope that he's right.
