This is the second installment in the 안녕하세요: Messages from the Korean Progamers series - a collaboration between myself and Konadora - bringing you messages and research from the Korean progamers. Tonight I'm happy to share messages from the players over at Hwaseung OZ (kindly provided by the players and coaching staff after Proleague on Saturday.)
(Backho is refering to the Get Well Soon card sent via myself from members of Teamliquid a couple of months ago after he returned from his back injury related absence.)
Jaedong:
Lomo:
Bonus:
Here are some shots of Jaedong and Lomo writing their messages for the Hwaseung cards;
Thank you once again to the coaching staff, players and management of OZ for giving us this chance to listen to the pro-players. I'm hoping to expand this project month by month to provide more interesting little snippets from the Korean players.

Thank you I'm going to expand it to some simple and fun surveys in the future like 'favourite unit.' 'Favourite match up' and more personal things like 'favourite band/singer or hobby etc.'
There's more, but everyone will have to wait about an hour to find out who they're from... *is cryptic.*

I've basically got no control over what is written once the book is in the gamer's hands so I'm hoping to gradually build upon the project as I mentioned.
Thanks for the awesome work, really love to see this, especially from JD. The letter we sent to Backho probably worked as his play improved tenfold since his injury and he actually plays with his head now
Backhooooooooooooooooo is the man... and Jaedong is so awesome... he is really trying to play on blizzcon and learning english to be like SaviOr saying: I will destroy all in 2010! or something like that.
Lomo is awesome to... I still remember his wraith micro =P
edit: LOL sorry but I forgot: THANK YOU NEVERGG and Konadora... thx thx thx
Ah I SERIOUSLY love this project you have going... loved these messages from OZ boys I'm glad Backho loved his card. It would be freaking awesome if Jaedong got to play overseas... I think seeing the number of fans he has internationally besides just hearing about it would be pretty damn cool. And Lomo's quick summary of his style was cute hahaha.

I'll add the romanized name to the rest of the cards, but seen as most of them begin with 'Hello, I am such and such.' I didn't think it was necessary.
Neggy - have you linked any of the players to these threads? I'm sure they would like to see your finalized messages too. Make them feel closer to the foreign fans. ^^

Awesome project, good job!!
I might print out the cards in the near future and give them to the players involved so they can see the results of the research I promised to post this on the Hwaseung site so I'm going to tonight ^^ Thanks for the idea.

What if you do the opposite of these cards: we write many fanboi messages to them, you print it and hand it out to them. Just to give them a notion of how much foreign fans they have (they might not know?)
Hi NeverGG first off Thank you for all your hard work! I really like Backho and Lomo's message. It seems like every other message are all generic saying how they thank us fans. It'll be cool if you can get them to write something about themselves. FOr example Backho thanking us about the card we gave him is really cool and Lomo talking about him liking micro-intensive play and strategies instead of standard play is really cool and interesting too.
If we can get more unique messages instead of generic ones I think it would be more interesting to read. Sorry if I am asking too much.

If it's not too much trouble of course ^^
I tried to organize this for CJ, but there just weren't enough messages to make a decently sized card. I might have a go later on if there is time.

I've already addressed this issue - basically I don't speak enough Korean and the coaches/managers generally don't know enough English to communicate anything particularly specific. It is possible with CJ, eSTRO and We Made to ask way more specific themes because they all have English speaking coaches. I'm working on expanding it and pre-preparing 'research' surveys asking more specific questions, but as for these two sets - I had no control over them once the book left my hands (especially the T1 messages because Mumyung took the book backstage and I only got it back from Bisu about 30 minutes later.)
I *knew* a few people would complain about the 'generic' messages, but for a first round of messages I think we've done decently - it's not a project which only stops here - I'm planning on keeping it going throughout the season which as many different gamers/questions/etc as possible. This takes planning, time and translation so please be patient with myself and Konadora - I have to also organize photoshoots and take event photos on site so I am really, really busy most of the time.
I actually don't mind the 'generic' messages too much, as actually SEEING the handwriting and pictures of them filling them out is extra special. If you didn't have those, it would be much much worse. Either way, I appreciate what you do in spite of the language discrepancies.
