Also I hear 12 nexus and 14 nexus, I was wondering which matchup they are for and what situations? And are they immediately after pylon or does it just mean nexus at that time after a gate/forge
I have noticed this as well.
Perhaps their map is in a different location within the maps folder? I dont know how sophisticated bw is when matching maps.

HOLY SHIT I DID IT!
I made a bunker and ebay diagonal wall which should replicate a diagonal pylon wall, as a diagonal pylon wall has a 31 pixel gap both top/bottom and left/right, and so does the bunker ebay wall (see List of Unit and Building Sizes for reference). I spammed S and H AND LO AND BEHOLD through much effort I WALKED THE MINELESS VULTURE THROUGH THE BUILDINGS WHERE IS MY PULITZER PRIZE
More testing needs to be done to see if this can be consistent, omg!
EDIT: I can now do it consistently after just a second or two, it's so practical HOW COME THEY DON'T TEACH THIS IN SCHOOL
|
how is this possible?? This flies in the face of YEARS of broodwar scholarship.
|
What the fuuuccckkkkk Try Pylon walls but it should work what the fuuccckkk I guess this just means Protoss will have to with sides touching now... Also I wonder if this will be allowed in competitive play now
|
Hmm, it's kind of weird how it's done and therefore might be harder with pylons. Anyone want to make me a pylon maze on iccup?
EDIT: Argh. I don't know any more. My fingers hurt. It seems to be reliant on Brood War's strange pathing. It works easily when I place the ebay and bunker in certain places, but then becomes impossible if I create buildings that change where the vulture 'tries' to go to on the other side of the wall.
|
honestly the pylon jumping thing isn't anything new. it's not too hard to do once you figure out the timing and where to click and can be replicated with good chance of success. if you watch pro tosses they usually "complete" diagonal pylon walls to stop it. why wouldn't it be allowed in competitive play all of a sudden? it has been around for years.
|
you don't need any fancy stop or hold spam, it can be done with 2 right clicks. one on this side of the pylons near the center, and one on the other. you have to push vults over one by one though. velocity and positioning also matters. the vulture jumps when it changes the direction it faces.

Why do some Zergs get one hatch at 27/27, while others get two of them at once around 33-35 supply? Is it just preference or do certain situations call for one or the other?
Also related to this, after the hatches are down and scourges are out, some of zerg players really delay their sunken colonies and evo and den. Why? Isn't better to get them down asap after you have your 6 hatches on 4 bases? What are they waiting for? It's not like Z can skip 2nd tier against Toss, we need lurkers and upgrades. When do you guys usually place the den and evo? is it a certain supply or do you wait until you see something? If you wait for something, what is it?
Thanks!
1. I would say preference, maybe due to overlord getting sniped by corsairs during the tier 2 phase. Same concept with powering rax, each different timing has its own strengths and weaknesses. 2. I don’t get it, delaying sunkens and evos AND den after 6 hatches+4 bases simply doesn’t make sense, it would be nice if you send me a replay or youtube vid to prove it. 3. Delaying evo and dens is necessary sometimes since you need drones and more minerals to build more sunkens if the protoss goes for builds like +1 speedlot after stargate or maybe even earlier by skipping the stargate. Sometimes it even make sense to delay sunken+den+evo even if the protoss goes for less aggressive builds since the fourth base is so easily defendable (especially in FS, since 99% of BW’ers play this map) that the zerg can go for a 4 base before simcitying his third with den and evo. In other maps of course, you will see more zergs going for more much later 4th base in non-FS maps

Hey guys this isn't related a "strategy" related question but it is a simple question and I feel like it would be a waste to make a new thread for this question so I want to just ask it here.
I have a screenshot from last year that I took in a channel and after opening it on irfan view, the screenshot opens up ...but the white text doesn't show up. It just shows the black background..has anyone had this problem before and if you did, what did you do to make the text show up?

Did the screenshot work normally when you first took it or has it always been that way? If it was like that originally then I don't think there's anything that can be done, recent versions of windows seem to have trouble with the colours in bnet channels.

thanks man.
Btw, do any of you guys have a standard Build order for ZvP that is pretty much safe against all threats (FE into DT, FE into +1 zeal, FE into goons)? I know that safe builds are wont cut it against good players since you are sacrificing offense for defense, but I have been loving Pauline's ZvT because it pretty much guarantees I survive until defiler and I am still playing standard so I have a chance late game.
What is hurting me right now in ZvP is the fact that I try to improvise my play all the time and I get screwed over because I am still too new to accurately read what my opponent is doing. in the specific build pauline showed, I can play pretty much blind and still stay alive. Anything like this for ZvP?! I want to survive the mid game consistently.
Certain things I would like to know is how many sunks I should always get and how many zerglings (and when) I should get to curb stomp any scouting zealots that keep trying to poke at my 3rd. I know bisu doesnt even get lings until the zealots start hitting the hatchery but I want to play safer and just have them ready. but not sure what supply to get them at and how many. Can someone please make a video on this!

Yeah but do u have any replays of your games u could share?

If I have time tomorrow I'll post. I'm not sure you'll learn much from me *blush*.

Thanks man. I just want to see the hydra timing u talked about.

1. I have a question about mid game ZvP. If the protoss army is too big to fight in the mid game and he has secured a 3rd with little damage, should I race to Hive and get defilers asap?
In ZvT, we are racing against terran to play standard AND get defilers before the vessel push comes. Against toss, am I racing against something? What elements of protoss play requires me to tech against (like in ZvT)? If I do not have a certain tech, am I dead? In ZvT, I know what my goal is (get defilers asap and survive). In ZvP, all I can think about is out macroing my opponent. Is there any other specific timing goals I should have?
2. In ZvP mid game, my supply count is like 30-40 supply lower than Toss. Is this normal? Kinda demoralizing.

3. When you have a bunch of units all holding their thingies at the rally point, is there a method you guys use to ctrl group them all neatly into groups? if i want to be neat, I grab a bunch of units, group them, and then move them out of the screen. Kinda slow. what do you guys do?
this board sure moves fast.

I had a look for reps just now, but my comp died a few days ago so I don't have many to choose from. Mostly it seems that I play some really terrible protosses who make bad walls and then forget to make a core because i got one zergling into their base. I'll upload one if I get a chance to play tomorrow (and it's what you're looking for)
