Mean while do drops to destroy his production/economy so he can't replenish once you manage to whittle down his army. | ||

Back in SC vanilla, and prior to the 1.04 patch, is it true that Overlords had to buy an upgrade at Lair level in order to be detectors? Heard this from someone recently, can't remember if it's true or not, and I was playing the game back then too. | ||

you get to be aggressive at the start while getting a good economy at the same time. just need to be careful of any reaver timing pushes. also, goon range is gotten pretty asap. like as soon as you have gas for it, unless you go for a build that specifically needs the gas elsewhere (dt) forge is built when you build the templar archives (2 fully saturated bases). speed vs +1 depends on what you need at the time. if you expect the game to stall a bit, get +1 first and try and fight before the opponents +1 timing. otherwise, you can get speed and try to push with reavers. depends on the game really i normally get storm when i plan on getting my 3rd base as well. if it doesnt look like i can get my 3rd base up soon, i opt for archons more than storm for a quicker army which will help me either fight or secure my 3rd. note that the above timings are for reaver openings. with a fast dt expand all the upgrades come a little faster at the expense of reavers. storms are gotten asap because they are your only line of defense vs reavers, and even when they are gotten asap you only have like 1 or 2 storms by the time the opponent comes knocking | ||

Seems like that'd be a good way to negate medic healing, if one hydra group volley just insta-kills the marine. Of course a ling surround is better vs marine-medic, ditto lurkers. But it seems like there are oddball situations where Z has hydras in play (2-port wraith). When that does happen, any success in focus-fire hydras vs M&M, in your experience? | ||

That's kinda what I said, I'm just not absolutely sure. My guess is he's confusing a balance change suggestion from way back when with how the game really was. | ||

As for T I haven't seen it in replays but I would guess if you scout on like 8 it could be a good strategy because it would give you the potential for a fast ebay block versus 12 hatch and you should be able to scout with only a single scv without having to play it too safe. Personally I always scout counter clockwise versus zerg and then double scout the next base if there is no indicator of zergs position from the first scout. This is probably the safest and most reliable way of doing it. Also you are talking about scouting the shit third first rather than the more obvious third because zergs usually send there overlords clockwise and this will only be helpful for you if you scout the worse third. I think watching a few replays and doing it a bit on your own and seeing if you lose to 9 pool or anything like that will answer all of your questions | ||
