So i'm going to try practicing hotkeying it to 2 or 0. 2 is smarter because its easy to multitask between 1 and 2. However it takes longer to go across the keyboard to hit p for probes. While 0 is closer to p but further from 1. That sounds like the way to go for you, the P key is a little far from from the 2 but with practice it will be very easy, just like using B then P to make a pylon. However how do I turn hotkeying units and buldings into a essential habit? Just force myself to do it and practice doing it over and over again until it becomes a habit? it comes so naturally, should take like 6 hours of gaming straight defilers den is c,m and g evo is c a and m adrenal is a m for energy queen h for hive u for burrow a for ultra speed w for dark swarm f for optic flare u for rine range t for stim s for shields f for fleet beacon w for weapons l for leg speed i for citadel? i forget You got everything right except the citadel, C for that. And yeah, basically muscle memory, play for a while and it will become second nature to press all these keys. On May 10 2015 05:50 TheGreatOne wrote: What is [neox]what9's aka? I just googled it and found that its actually in the Liquipedia Starcraft Wiki. It's under Fish Server and has the top pro's akas.

Seems a little inconclusive, I always thought this worked but when I tried the shift-clicking scvs example to test it it didn't, perhaps works differently with enemy units? Does anyone know? lol.

Does anyone know? lol. In my past experience with T this does not work with sieged tanks. Shift-A does work with other units though, or unsieged tanks, but if you use try and queue up with sieged tanks they just target whatever the last unit was you selected. In this case it would be better to just have tanks target different goons, but I feel like macroing or microing your vults rather than microing sieged tanks would be more beneficial for most battles..

I really don't know It's so weird that they'd regen under Stasis. I always thought of Stasis as 'timestop', basically. Yeah same, the unit's shields and HP are not visible while stasised so you can't see it going up but when it's released it's shields have regenerated.

Of course into mid game I will use 12345 for units. For the f keys should I put them at my main nexus and expo nexus? For the other f key should I put it at my ramp or at my rally point of gateways? Or does it really just depend on the opponents strategy? I use 1-4 for units, 5-6 gateway, 7 Robo or starport, 8-0 nexus. Units start from 1. Main nexus 0, Nat 9, third 8. I never use F keys. This works for me. Good luck.

for example: bisu mixes up his f keys a fair bit. hell start with f2,f3 and f4 on main, nat, and nat entrance. after, hell replace 1 or 2 f keys with gateways and rally point (if his rally point is the nat entrance then he only changes 1). late game youll find hes replaced 2 of his f keys with different bases, or some other point on the map he has to pay attention to. so basically throughout the game his f keys change several times. same goes for his hotkeys. he may or may not hotkey the nexuses at the start, but he definitely doesnt rely on the hotkeys much. the reason for this is because he mainly wants his probe highlighted so that he can change the probes direction without having to look at the probes screen (by clicking mineral patches). so at the start hell mainly use the f keys to retain control of his probe for a split second to issue a move command before manually clicking on the nexus or whatever he needs to do. he regularly changes his numbered hotkeys around depending on which units he needs to concentrate on more. sometimes his shuttle has its own hotkey, sometimes its grouped with zealots. same goes for observers and arbiters. sometimes he even has a forge or cybernetics core hotkeyed just so he can regularly see his upgrade timings. later in the game though, youll notice most of his hotkeys (i dont believe he actually uses all 1-0) are units with the occasional stargate or robotics and anytime he needs to look at buildings or other points on the map that arent hotkeyed to f keys, he uses the mouse. his mouse speed and accuracy is through the roof though, absolutely unbelievable how he can navigate the minimap with his mouse at such apm. obviously the above is all possible because his apm is insane and he knows wtf hes doing but the bottom line is one setup cant take you through the whole game. just do whats comfortable for you at specific moments in the game and if you need to switch it up then dont be afraid to start changing keys around. TLDR: 1 SETUP ISNT ENOUGH. ADAPT YOUR HOTKEYS TO THE CURRENT SITUATION

From what I have seen, there is two main hotkey schemes which most protoss players use (I'm being very general here). One is they hotkey their nexuses to the high numbers (098) so its closer to p, control their army with 1234 and gateways to like 4567. They build probes with p or clicking occasionally. Another that seems popular is having nexuses hotkeyed (is that even a word) further away from p (like 678 or even 4) and they click the probe icon instead. Most korean pros from what I can remember from fpvods use the f-keys for their bases so they can transfer probes quickly. There are a lot of other weird ways which people do their hotkeys (like controlling their army with 3456 and setting one nexus to 1 and gateways/nexus/whatever on 7890) and they were still good players so in the end, its whatever you feel comfortable with. jaedong (or was it flash, I dont remember) doesnt even use 890 as its too far away.

Thank you very much. I will give your hotkeys a try. Right now i'm not even really using # hotkeys. So that explains why I can't get to D+ on Iccup.
