I don't want to play passive like them and have 40 minutes game, but it seems to be the only way to play PvZ. Is that the only thing he does the whole game? No ling runbys to deny expos? Drops? If you can't kill him early, I'd suggest building a huge reaver-archon-HT ball and park it right at their base's entrance and shit on everything the guy throws at you while you sauron what's left of the map in the background. That's what I do (rarely and I'm not very good at it.) 128x128 is the ideal size of map and you can also see 128X96 or 96x128 maps. 96x96 is too small while the next step to 128 is too big.

Think out of the box :D | ||

A few days ago my BW started to crash giving the "referenced memory could not be read" error after about 20' to 30' into every game (against 7 computers on FMMs) and I had no idea why it did cause I didn't make any fucking changes to my OS or the game's folder and I had run it for months without issues. I've tried several solutions suggested on this forum but they didn't work. Sorry if you've tried this already, but just try reinstalling the game. In the past, this has fixed my starcraft from crashing for unknown reasons (also windows 7). I'm completely new to brood war as well but am improving very nicely. Your best bet is to just watch some pro streams or fpvods on youtube. Liquipedia also has a wealth of beginner information.

I reinstalled BW and it worked fine for a couple days then today it began to crash again with the same error. Man, this problem is so annoying. Perhaps I'll install XP as the 2nd OS just to run BW.

I feel like someone made a specific guide for transitioning players, but I can't seem to find it. Liquipedia is actually a very good resource for BW though, while some of the Builds are not up to date the contributors have worked very hard to make it more beginner friendly. Check out http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Portal:Beginners/Mechanics As someone who is coming from SC2 rather than no RTS background you might need less basic information but more differences between SC2 and BW. Slightly dated but a good compilation thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/bw-strategy/436604-collection-of-strategy-threads A guide to thought process http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/bw-strategy/450579-other-basics Some videos: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/bw-strategy/442812-mechanics-video-series

This confirms the information on wikipedia Corsair "Casters are still able to cast, but spider mines will not activate." . You can destroy the mines with the splash of a scarab shot even when under d-web.
