You can play 1.19? i think the patch is called, for free. Not sure if it allows you to dl it through the BNet app (the one you use to play Overwatch/Hearthstone/SC2 etc with).
However, you have to pay $15 to get the updated graphics, and matchmaking/ladder.

anyone know where i can find any good ZvZ guides/tutorials?

Fastest is just stupid and died way before anything else even started declining. BW wouldn't live forever. Fastest ladder would be played for a week and then forgotten.
The only thing that needs to happen is regular 2v2 ladder.

There are fastest maps being hosted like all the time, although the idea of fastest ladder does sound... funny :D

What? Fastest has always been far more popular than 1v1 and is actually really in depth just as much as low money. On Fish server alone seventy percent of games were fastest.

Does anyone have a guide for mineral boosting in start of the game? how do you guys do it? I try to mine patches first where drones don't lose acceleration, but im sure theres more to it. Do you manually send drones on outside patches that take strange paths with right clicks to take shorter routers? press return cargo on outside drones?
Some guidelines on how to do it optimally rather than just messing around and not really knowing if im actually making my mining better or worse would be sick.

Some guidelines on how to do it optimally rather than just messing around and not really knowing if im actually making my mining better or worse would be sick. I was 99% sure there was a way to 'teach' workers to always mine minerals from a specific angle until they start wandering again, I also found this old post mentioning what I had in mind, but I can't seem to reproduce that behavior in remastered. What I remember is that you had to right-click the probe directly next to the mineral and then it would keep that angle until it has to wander, but either that was changed since or the method I'm remembering is wrong. Maybe someone else has an idea about what I'm talking about and can chime in.
The other obvious things are placing buildings to correct bad angles (45° angles have the fastest turnrate) and microing two workers in a way that they both mine the same, most efficient, patch. Effort showed that one as well in one of the translated videos here but I'm not sure which one it was specifically - that's the most common thing though.
If there's any stuff that goes beyond these things with the actual manual moving of multiple workers even I'd be genuinely curious about it as well. Just the manual mining of 1-2 closest patches usually keeps me occupied enough.

Yeah, for some mineral patch with bad initial worker pathing, you can teach the worker to use a different path by moving it close to the better mining angle and then giving the worker the gather command. You only have to do this once, if you got the correct angle. Here is a small example with Terran where I change the path so that the SCV doesn't bug out anymore when it returns to the CC: http://bwreplays.com/76weh The other method is to manually juggle the workers between the best mineral patches (i.e 3 workers on 2 patches). There is a thread with the possibilities on how to improve the mining rate: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/brood-war/484849-improving-mineral-gathering-rate-in-brood-war But it is mostly trial and error to find optimizations because the mining path behaves differently for every mineral patch for every race main hall and it is also not always consistent to the relative patch position.

Hey everybody, I'm relearning SC1 (and loving every minute of it) and I have a quick hotkey question for protoss specifically:
I'm currently absolutely 50/50 between these two different hotkey methods:
(a) put two nexi on 1 and 2 and use F2 and F3 for two gateway clusters, F4 for your rally point.
(b) put two center gateways in clusters on 1 and 2 and use F2, F3 and F4 for up to three nexi to produce probes from.
The advantage of (a) is that I can quickly go to and reset my rally point with cam hotkeys, which I like a lot. But at the same time (b) allows me to keep up with my probe production better, even from 3 bases at one time, altho in sc1 that doesn't seem to be necessary as much as in SC2.
I'm currently freely switching between both ideas, completely unsure which one I should stick to. Any input would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just down to personal preference. I realize there's an 'easy hotkey' thread at the top of this forum at the moment but I decided to post here because that OP presents their own layout rather than having general hotkey discussion, hope this is okay here.

Probe production in sc1 is more crucial than sc2.
To keep it short, I will say that in general, you want your production buildings to be on the F keys as it's more efficient to have free-flowing hotkeys available to hotkey any unit(s).
I will also say that the F keys are not static. You should be changing them in certain situations, i.e. increasing production -> goes over buildings/rally. And in the case there is an economic harassment, you should be able to f2 f3 between bases to move workers quickly.
Personally, it seems awkward to have nexi on 1 and 2 because it means it pushes units and buildings to 3-6.

I should have clarified that I am quite used to having my army hotkeys start at 3 as I don't like the 1a2a finger positions very much. So that would be a thing either way for me.
So you are saying I should be flexible between (a) and (b)? I'd really like to stick to one to be honest as it helps me organize things in my head.
Any more input?

f2 f3 f4 are generally used for bases so you can send probes to mine and drill probes to other bases if you get harassed

Yeah that's a great advantage, I agree. My major issue is that I won't be able to quickly set my rally points with F2/F4 and F3/F4 (going back and forth really quickly), and instead having to click my minimap. But I guess that's how most players do it as well in SC1?
EDIT: I guess I could temporarily overwrite F4 (my third base location) with my new rally point so that I could quickly reset my rallies by going 1/1/F4 and 2/2/F4 (if I got my two different gateway clusters on 1 and 2) and then resetting it to my third. That might be a nice, fairly flexible middle ground solution.

u can use f keys for rerallying then rehotkey them to bases

Ah perfect, that makes sense. Thank you very much. I'll use 1/2 for my base in the early game, 3 for scout and pre-record F2/F3/F4 to my main/natural/third. Then I'll transition over to use 1 and 2 for my first gateway and F2 for my main so that I'm ready to expand to my natural and third with the F keys and I'll also be ready to put down more gateways in a different position with 2. Then I can use an F key to reset my rally hotkey really quickly as long as I rebind it to the corresponding base. Seems like the best of both worlds, thanks.

Personally I have 890 for nexii, and F2-F4 on my mining bases. Production and rallys I try to put in vision of the nexus.

Where do people find 1v1 games on battle.net? All I see are fastest money maps when filter for 1v1.

Well, most people are probably playing on the remastered ladder.

Is there any way to fix the "unable to distribute map" error?
