You can try like: 12 hatch --> 12 gas --> 11 pool ).

The size of the map is also important, and since most competitive maps are maxed out at 128x128 in size, there can be a very different dynamic to playing on a larger map, like say, 256x256 or a small map that is 64x64. A larger map will give you more time to take expansions, whereas a smaller map will not let you expand for a long time.

It might work. btw what would you do on a 256x256 map? What if the map you were playing on had absolutely no terrain and was just a really flat piece of land with a few mineral clusters littered. I would recommend going 2 hatch lurker and then taking the gas base as your third base/hatchery. Or doing something like using slow drops to take both of the islands.

Classic opening from back in the day was hatch 12 lair speedling lurk, it's the safest way to be able to take a second base/natural.
