Were you supply blocked? Did you scout? Too late/too early? You do say you are overproducing lings but it s hard to judge without a replay. What do you do with your lings then? If you make units instead of drones, you should use them. Deny his 3rd, try a hydra bust, mutaliog, whatever. There are many options. For CB, if you see the protoss expanding faster then you can also just take your 3rd/4th quickly and play larva s style of turtling a bit. Additionally, you could may be ask in the simple questions/ simple answer thread. | ||

Is the larva style of ZvP stronger on CB than mass hydra off 3 base? | ||

That game I actually took more drone damage then I recalled (lost like 3 or something) so I was pretty behind but I am still curious how to deal with gate expand or gate core gas | ||

Actually if you scout your opponent first with your overlord and see one gate, you should get one pair of lings, drones, and then more lings: Jaedong squeezes out two drones before making more lings, 14 gas, 14 third hatchery which is exactly THE SAME as the build vs. forge except the extra supply goes to lings (which doesn't affect third timing since those eggs haven't hatched yet) and the gas is spent on ling speed instead of lair (he pulls drones off of gas) | ||

Vs a gate expand may be not, vs a forge expand on cb i guess it comes down to preference. Larva s style sets you up nicely for mid late game at the cost of being more defensive. It s up to your playstyle. As a P though i find turtling z harder to deal with, esp on CB where they can take many bases.
