That seems to be the trend... but I've had it work before, and it seems to be stable for now. I'm sure there will be some streamers and if not there's always Uusee
Effort is not at his best atm, but he should be able to go through pretty easily. I actually want all players to go advance in this group; Ruby because he's an ACE player, Effort because he's so fucking good, Firefist and Jangbi because they're on awesome teams.

Was it Ruby against Hoejja? Some game on destination where Ruby did the "take half of the map, camp and wait" Strategy. But this time he has less than half.

Yeah that game was so painful for me as a Hoejja fan
I dont understand why effort doing ultra, ling defiler vs mech - just jumped in here in the end-game but it seems that effort has enough bases to support ALOT of max upgraded hydras and double upgraded spires no?
ruby is a really smart player - he knows he doesn't have the fastest hands or the best reaction time so he makes sure to put himself in situations where those skills won't be super important
wow, it seemed like anything and everything effort threw at ruby just melted. He tried mutas, hydras, lings, lurkers under swarm, and even ultralisks. I'm saddened but congrats to ruby, i hope he makes it through!
Not a good game by Effort , Ruby played good . You should stick with muta/hydra as your main army against mech and a few lurkers under swarm for stoping pushes and gaining position . Ruby bearly had any anti - air when he was pushing down the map only tanks , Effort should have taken them out .

he has his double gas forever, i was really fearing for ruby and his inability to shutdown double expo from zerg for 4th and 5th base but i guess it was effort i should've been fearing for had no idea a huge mech army was so strong against a high-gas and somewhat untouched zerg

70 supply is not that much if you have money saved up. like ultras from 4 hatches and lings/hydras from 4 others

this. Ruby had a really tank heavy army and instead of making mutas, effort decided to make ultras.
most likely because effort was already caught up in his original mix of units that the transition into mutas didnt really come to his mind. it seems like he was too far into his plan to change units

Do you really think mutas work against goliath/SV combination? Ruby had nothing to do with his energy anyway(just the occasional defilers), and could probably get off 5+ irradiates against any muta cloud before they even sniff the tanks.

yes, it would have made a dent in the tank army and force ruby to get more golis at which point effort could have crushed a goli heavy army with hydras
it wouldn't have been an insta win, but it would have created a more even game
on one hand, I would love for one of them to take out the other so flash has a clear road to MSL victory, but on the other hand, that's pretty bad for starcraft in general
i was waiting for kal to make reavers in his msl game earlier, maybe jangbi can switch to reaver cannon defence after his somewhat.. slightly very marginally faster 3rd ~ ~

Well they are guaranteed to play unless Effort fails to make it out of this group altogether.
If Flash makes RO8 he's guaranteed at least #2 seed.
Yay, Jangbi! I was afraid for a sec that he would throw it, when he charged up that damned plateau and lost his 4th, but he found the weak spot soon enough.
That was a weird last battle. Archon/zealot/goon vs ultra under swarm. Yet Jangbi won with very little storm involved. His army advantage must've been a lot bigger than I previously thought.

Are you sure that's all that's under the swarm. It looked more than that. Sure, the pool was down, but I had thought firefist had a good amount of army to not get slaughtered under the swarm.

He had a small pack of zerglings, something like 4 ultralisks, and a handful of hydralisks but still had a smaller army than Jangbi. Plus, swarm doesn't do anything against a ball of archons, a crapload of storms, and a whole pack of zealots.

Although I would be totally unsurprised by a 2-0 JD victory, Firefist is a pretty legit ZvZer and could potentially upset. He is 0-2 against JD in head to head but the last game they played was over a year ago... and he is 4-0 against Effort...

Obviously Jaedong deserves a tad more credit for his game against Fantasy than Firefist here, but seriously; there is no doubt in my mind that if Jaedong had played this exact game in this situation people would've called him ballsy and smart instead of hating on him.
I wanted Ruby to advance too but I can't really fault Firefist for his decision to 4pool. He knew his ZvT is worse than Ruby's TvZ and Ultimatum isn't exactly a walk in the park for ZvT (correct me if I'm wrong here) so a cheese would give him the biggest chance of victory.
Or did you people just expect him to just roll over and surrender?

I'd probably say not so much the genius touch as it is able to prepare for so many games at the same time. His game against Ruby today showed a lot of questionable decision-making, and lost despite showing vastly superior skills and multi-tasking.

Yes, because Ruby is hero for many people - he is most promising person from ACE which most people consider "handicapped" team, so if he has to be defeated - we want him to be defeated in some epic fight.
Because you don't like your favorite player being just stomped with some cheesy strat in one-sided fight. Only games when your favorite is defeated that you accept are these ones that he loses after well fought battle. Truth is - he could defend this and win, but he didn't.
Either way the game would be one-sided, depending only on success on this attack, since FireFist commited his drones as well - that's what makes this game unable to be epic.
I'm happy for FF to advance, because i like him, but i am not blindfolded - this was NOT an exciting game as many people were expecting it to be

I say this as a gatorade supporter, but there's a few very basic differences.
Jaedong cheesed in a series game which is all about mental advantage. It's like how no one hated July for cheesing Best in their OSL finals -- it was a brilliant mind game. Same goes for Boxer though no one hates boxer.
What firefist did, though, was turn what could've been a very fun 1v1 into a 3 minute game -- no matter what. Cheesing a Bo1 is just a cheap way to take a win/advance, especially when there's lot of things on the line.
By cheesing Ruby he A) Created the ONLY mirror match up as him vs Jaedong, instead of TvJaedong B)Killed what would have been an amazing thing of an Ace player making the Ro16 in MSL C) Ended a very exciting night in a very anti climactic way and D) Robbed us of what SHOULD'VE been a good game in him vs Ruby, because they're both pretty solid players.
When Jaedong 4pooled, it was just a continuance of a dominating series which, at the very least, had one more game to go, and at the most, had 2 more games. Finishing a series with a cheese is just disheartening. It's like ZvZ ace matches -- there's nothing WRONG with ZvZ (analogywise-- there's nothing WRONG with cheesing), it's just annoying that we waited 2 hours for our finale and it ended in 3 minutes.
There's a difference between making short work of an inferior opponent, and goinglame to get an undeserved win. JD does the former, Firefist does the latter.
i believe that once the Ro8 is set, the MSL rearranges the bracket by Kespa rank (not sure how it works aside from #1 and #2 aren't on the same side). So, assuming Jaedong and Flash both make it to the Ro8, they should be on opposite sides of the bracket.

Firefist is old as hell. He's been on the scene for god knows how long. Unless he pulls some spectacular miracle out of his ass, he's not going anywhere.
The reason why JD is getting worshipped when he cheeses is very simple. Because everybody knows he's probably the best mechanics and lategame management, so when he does cheese it's not about desperation or becaues he is afraid, but mindgames. Like Boxer, his cheese was loved because it was all about mindgames.
I get pissed when jaedong cheeses, but Jaedong cheesing fantasy or like leta, no one would get pissed off because if any terrans deserved to get cheesed its those 2. And this is coming from a terran fan. So lame, now jd gets (probably) an easy pass to ro8.

Sorry, but you are mistaken.
You're right, Stats/Jangbi, but it's our only ZvZ and I was looking forward to a lack of ZvZ for a bit. Good match up but I'm pretty sure everyone is tired of it dominating tournaments and ace matches.

a bit premature... effort is still relatively new. TL bandwagons so hard, and then turns on the players so quickly its ridiculous. But like someone said before, I never jumped on the effort is jesus bandwagon. Zero has been my zerg pick since 08, nevertheless, effort will prove himself Im sure, hes a great player.
Jangbi is a fucking waste...at best hell get 2nd again. I mean losing in the finals to Luxury after gaying the shit out of Nada..meh. Hell just run into a zerg and get raped, heck his PvT isnt Almighty anymore, I dont think hes a threat,

Oh and do you think yellow getting into finals all those times in the past is a waste? Yea, because all he get is 2nd. He never get first, what a waste. After taking out all tournament favorites time after time and only get seconds. What a fucking waste.

He deserved to advance after that first set.
Is 2-base dt arbiter really a cheese? I remember best doing it all the time, except instead of opening up with dts, he went straight to arbiters. Its not like dts won jangbi the game either.
You really can't say that its a cheese move because jangbi was perfectly fine even though it failed.
