Bit torn on this one, I like Sen better, but I think Mondragon vs Nony would be the most exciting final.
|
|
I like how you put the two zerg players to cast this match
No offense to Artosis and Tasteless ( i actually prefer this combo overall ) but for zvz i think that Chill + Day9 is unmatched.
|
|
|
Mondragon please do this, you gotta win TSL2, that would be the perfect way to end the BW era for me!

Either of these guys will give NonY a great match in the finals, so I'm just hoping for an entertaining series.
GL HF!
|
How can anyone hate this guy?
Mondragon! 3-2 I think.
|
MONDRAGON 3-0 AND STOMP NONY 3-0
|
Tough match and all things a coin flip.
My head says Sen wins, but my heart is with Mondragon.

In germany they call it 'Klugscheisser'
Actually I feel lik the semis arent as cool / godly as they could be simply due to the fact that they are mirrors and with zvz one of them not particularly cool imo.. but with the finals being a zvp for sure which is hopefully almost anyones favourite match up.. everythings just awesome
=)
|
Gogo Mondragon! lol at predictions. It sucks to have two mirror matchups in semis, but this way we're guaranteed a pvz in the finals so whooo!
|
Go Mondragon! I predict 3-1 but 3-0 would be just as good!
|
Screw you picky bastards, the semi's have been sweet and shown us high level play. Though the final round will definitely be Epic.

I want the one having the best chance beating Nony to win. Although, I'm not sure who that is. GL both players!
|
I have one question actually, why is the map order always different from the match before? I mean why isn't it in the same order in both matches?

I do believe that the map order is Random. They said so during one of the casts.

I think the underdog position is really helping Mondi here. I mean in the first TSL he was the huge favourite, right?
This time no one expected him to enter the final, much less win the whole tournament.

Short but sweet semis. Love the results, though; it's not every event there's a finals where I'll be extremely happy with a win by either player. Third place match should be pretty awesome, as well.

oh damn, the finals are going to be SO FUCKING EPIC

The word zergling and phrase zergling speed just took a whole new meaning for me. ZvZ is really fun to watch all of a sudden.
|
My God poor Sen.
Mind over mechanics. Anyway.
I was a bit confused by Mondi's muta micro in game 2. This horribad muta vs scourge control could have costed him the game. That's surprising cuz his zvt muta micro has been simply amazing.
This victory is good news: in foreigners realm, creativivty and unexpected situations management are still amongst the most useful skills toi have.

Nice nice, Nony and Mondragon won. I can't wait to see these two play my favourite match-up (PvZ).
This should be so good and congratulations to Mondragon for winning today : )
|
Fast games, but still pretty fun. My analysis:
Game 1: Overpool > 9 pool
Game 2: Bad multi-tasking by Sen + great decision making by Mondragon (pulling two reinforcements back to defend; granted he was lucky to have scouted them)
Game 3: 9 pool > Overgas + Research Zergling Speed first, but really bad decision making on Sen's part doing that on a 3-player map while knowing that Mondragon has played fast zerglings for the last two games
|

I remember how around the same day the TSL announcement was made Nony and Infernal were talking about how good Mondi was vs reaver sair. Nony said that he'd have to try and make it far to try reaver sair against him and here they are in the finals. Fuckin psychics !!!

It was horrible decision making from sen to make lair AND speed before lings.
|
Unfortunately Mondragon will win against Nony in the finals unless he doesn't practice ZvP much and Nony is in great shape with his PvZ.
That matchup is just hard like that, especially to win a bigger BO.
|
I think I give Nony a significant edge against Mondi just because he's really good at making weird builds work and Mondi is practicing for regular protoss stuff.
If he even gets 1 game from a weird build that could be the difference.
|
That would depend on whether you believe Mondragon when he says he's going to practice standard Protoss. We all know Mondragon has a habit of downplaying himself

See http://repdepot.net/replay.php?id=31861
And people need to stop throwing out such blanket statements as one build beating another if they can't even distinguish in variations of builds (ie overgas9pool and overgas11pool are two completely different things and have much different objectives) or identify that it wasn't the build for someone losing (also maps can change things completely with the rush distances) but rather the decision making/micro of both players (see andromeda game for example)

You are completely wrong on game three. I mean, come on, try to watch it again. Sen rallied his first 2 zerglings into mondi's taking them to red hp. Then the next 2 lings also got hit, again due to the fail rally. His build was safe vs 9 pool, if he had microed decently.. He might have lost 1 or two drones at max, but that would just make them even since mondi had lower drones due to his 9 pool.
|

The slow pace with a broadcast every weekend is kinda killing the hype for me.

6 Zerglings were up Sen's ramp by the time his first 2 popped. It's clear he didn't expect them which is the reason he rallied "incorrectly," even though his rally was to block off the ramp which would've stopped a slower overpool but not a 9 pool.

I think that's what he means. I think he would rather the entire tournament be packed into like a week or something, rather than 5 weeks for the entire tournament.

Oh I know very well how disastrous that would be. I was simply relaying his point across.

I would probably blame the timing of the SC2 beta.

Even though i agree with you to a degree i don't see why someone would prefer playing in the beta ladder to watching Nony vs Mondi finals.

I guess less replies in this thread don't neccessarily mean less interest in the series. Even if that were true, I'd blame it on ZvZ ^^
Edit: TSL is so awesome, thank you guys for organizing this great tournament.

There is nothing wrong with the pace of the TSL. I'm still very excited for the Finals next weekend.

for busy people
The American vs European / asian games etc with such weird timezones. It's extremely hard to schedule a time during the week. Which leaves the weekend only most of the time (unless somoene wants to play early morning for them), meaning about 1 game a week really is the best type of structure when you have wildly different timezones. Also it leads to worse games overall as they have less time to prepare.

Game 1: Overpool > 9 pool
Game 2: Bad multi-tasking by Sen + great decision making by Mondragon (pulling two reinforcements back to defend; granted he was lucky to have scouted them)
Game 3: 9 pool > Overgas, but really bad decision making on Sen's part going overgas on a 3-player map while knowing that Mondragon has played fast zerglings for the last two games Overgaspool usually beats 9pool... It doesn't if you research zergling speed first. Edited to reflect that. It was horrible decision making from sen to make lair AND speed before lings.
No it was not, his build was a 100% copy of Jaedong's, the whole purpose of this build is to make lair + speed before lings. He needs speed to counter 9 pool speed, Sen would have been fine if he microed but he did terrible.

We all know Mondragon has a habit of downplaying himself The whole modest thing...didn't he predict himself losing to sen? Actually he predicted himself loosing every single time ;-). I think although nony is a very strong mecanical player and can play nonstandard from time to time, Mondi is still more or less the favorite now. Yes, Nony defeated Idra but I think Mondi's style should favour him. Anyway it became the final I hoped for from the very beginning. ZvP is my favorite. May it go to game 7^^
