Hwaseung Oz is a very inconsistent team, they have their on days were the Jaedong Oz combo destroys everyone with players like Hiya and Killer playing very well, but then there are also those were the everyone besides Jaedong plays terrible and end up in the classic 1-3 Oz result. Going through their record their highest streak this Season has been 3 wins, which is relatively poor.
Since Oz is out of the playoffs I think the main concern they should have is getting their line up built for next season. At the moment their roster involves I would say 6 players. Jaedong, Hiya, Killer, Lomo, BackHo, Perfectman... And everyone but Jaedong and Hiya seem to be very inconsistent and these players need to step their game up if they wish to compete with other teams.
Ahh, Hite, there is alot going on in the Sparkyz house right now, after losing so many strong players in the match fixing scandal they aren't left with much left. Hite is too out of the playoffs and looking at the line up it doesn't look like they have much of a future. I suppose you can call Hite a bad version of Oz. Leta has had an injury and hasn't been playing to his potential and let me just explain how bad the rest of the team is. I will use the ELO rank and show their 5 highest ranked players. Leta 2189 (140-91) Horang2 2142 (37-31) Hogil 2037 (46-66) Puma 2006 (12-20) Britney 1991 (3-6)
The situation is really really bad for them and they will have to hope to make these guys A class material or trade some new guys for next season. As of the moment I do think they are the underdog against every player.
Set 1: I see Hiya coming out since Match Point favors the Terran and Hiya is pretty at playing his mirror match-up, and Hite will counter by sending a protoss. This map does favor PvT but I think Hiya should take this since Britney isn't very experienced . Set 2: We all know Fighting Spirit, it's possible the most balanced map out there, and BackHo is comfortable with 4 player maps and even though his record doesn't show it I feel he has good game sense in PvP and this should be a fun mirror to watch. I think Hite will see Killer coming here and therefore Horang.
Set 3: Grand Line and Fighting Spirit are the only maps that I think BackHo or Killer will be sent out at, and Leta should be sent out to guarantee a win here and spare someone else for Jaedong.
Set 4: The best chance for Hite to take out Jaedong is in a ZvZ on JDs favorite map, though he has lost his last 2 PL ZvZs I do think he still very much has it and Hogil should get rolled.
just from the looks of their bases....jaedong with a bunch of spores and yellow with a few sunkens....it reminds me of jd's pure ling, late lair build against someone a while ago
Yellow just got in two brutal chases against JD's mutas. Seemed like Jaedong hesitated and wanted to engage over his spores but just ended up giving Yellow free hits.
On June 28 2010 18:24 snowdrift86 wrote: Does anyone know how the game started? How did Jaedong get into this position?
From the looks of it he tryed some kind of 9 pool speed into many lings with late lair, cuz yellow has 3 sunks, but yellow must have held it off, so JD had to put down a lot of spores
A few weeks ago, I wouldn't think Kong could really stand to come close against JD unless it was some really freaky cheese, and yet, he defeats him in a straight-up ZvZ with macro elements (which you figure JD would just mechanically destroy Yellow there).
Easily the best ZvZ this year so far. I do agree with you to an extent, Plexa. If Jaedong won, it wouldn't have been nearly as epic, but it was still great to see more than mutalisks and zerglings in a ZvZ.
On June 28 2010 18:42 Warrior Madness wrote: i fuckinhg hate this game sometimes. it takes a failure like yellow to end JD's record run for consecutive PL wins.
lol wat?
i fuckinhg love this game sometimes. it takes a legend like yellow (and one of the most awesome ZvZ I've ever seen) to end JD's run.
How can you even sleep seeing yellow as a failure?
On June 28 2010 18:46 XThunderyX wrote: Alright....That was an epic game. But as much as I want ACE to win now, I NEED Oz to win so gogo HiyA, Killer, and Backho for a 3:1!
Haha, man, if that happens I might vomit with rage.
Yellow simply outmicroed JD. He shut down every single expo before it went online, kept the mutas at parity, and got the better plagues off. Even the loss of his spire didn't cost him the match.
It seems like either of them could have ended it if they took advantage of their huge plagues in the middle of the game. Jaedong had a huge one that would instantly halve Yellow's army if he chose to engage, but he didn't. Why not press their advantage?
Probably the most amazing thing about that game was how Yellow managed to kept his advantage, and adding to it, throughout the game.
It's one thing to beat Jeadong with BO advantage, or get lucky and outmicro him in a pivitol battle. But to get in so many engagements with needed multi-tasking for 30+ minutes, and not simply get outclassed by Jaedong, is a feat in of itself.
Too bad they kept killing each others bases to prevent this from becoming yellow vs ggplay.

JD only landed his plagues after his own air units were plagued earlier, so I don't think he was able to grasp an advantage with his plagues.
And Yellow shrugged off the the late game plagues JD landed on his air because after that air chase from by Yellow away from Yellow's nat, JD's air force was decimated already.
I don't think Jae played at all his strength, some micro mistakes and quite passive gamestyle throughout the game, this is not how Jae plays ZvZ, the man who can micro 2 muta stacks at a time... well I guess Jae was so kind today
On June 28 2010 18:43 pieisamazing wrote: That was incredible. So close until the very end.
I wouldn't say it was that close but some well-placed plagues and such could have turned it around if Yellow had let his guard down.
it was close until the very, very end. had no idea who was going to win and the tide shift backed and forth multiple times
Yellow was on target with his plagues and stuff more often and it seemed like he had an advantage in mutalisks. Also they took out each other's expansions several times but Yellow's actually got some mining time in. I would have been surprised if he lost.
On June 28 2010 18:57 Rainmaker5 wrote: Ace Needs to win so Yellow gets a fucking interview. If he doesn't get to be spoken to after this I am going to go to korea myself.
This policy about only interviewing the winning team is so absurd.
ACE is such an entertaining team recently. Sure, they lose most of the times, but every once in a while they just come out of nowhere and 3-0 some team you'd never expect them to beat... ^___^
Even if Oz turns this around with the next few games, ACE has still been playing brilliantly vs them this season. ..not to mention they're on a tear lately as well.
I would have preferred Jaedong to win, but Yell0w is awesome as well! Very nice game, Old > young :D. And about the next Ace match: Gorush played his strategy ok, just too bad for hiyaa he didn't scout enough.
Go ACE! And go Zero!
btw:Jaedong will manage to win his next games, he's ok.

I can almost guarantee the next game... Killer vs RuBy... ZvT.... Well, not much else we can do except cheer Oz and pray to the SC gods lol! 3:2 Oz go!!!

Ugh, Yorush just stomped the two best players on Oz. We're done for. Proleague playoffs without Jaedong is
Don't lose hope just yet, there's still Killer and, uh. I'm so sorry.
Killer isn't as bad as everyone makes him out to be, but hes the only guy left on oz that can win..
Lomo beat Stork... well we the Oz fans can pray. Killer and Lomo are well... Not the people wed usually expect to win, but if we want to see playoffs, we gotta pray.
I thought you guys were kidding about the next match being much vs backho. I forgot backho was even back. It's so weird that he is. It's felt like an eternity since the last time he played (Even though he has played a few games already since his return).
On June 28 2010 19:23 OSWater wrote: wtf much? did you want to lose or something?
Maybe he wanted a green Rolex too?
maybe, i mean, his decision making was real bad. he saw the army moving to his base but kept his shuttle moving the opposite direction and was caught with his pants down
Killer vs Ggaemo go! lol I don't actually think he can play yet...although it would be funny. I wonder if they're gonna risk Killer vs Ruby or if they're gonna try someone else...Lomo would be a horrible idea, I think Perfectman would be a better idea in fact...and that's saying something.
On June 28 2010 19:27 danl9rm wrote: Killer can only win when it doesn't matter. He's good, but his nerves are doodoo.
Lately he played well. In zvt also. Imo the reason why he has played horribly so many times in that matchup is that he got nuked (twice) by boxer (lolol) :D
I wonder what the chances of Lomo are coming out. I really hope Killer brings his A game though. The games that Oz lost at the start of the season do to Killer in ace better have paid off, now we will see once and for all.
Would have prefered Ruby here, but maybe saving him for the Ace? Still better to go all out on Killer than bank on beating JD twice. It's not as if you're playing against Flash after all. 8{

his recent play only reinforces my point. both his recent wins were when it didn't matter. jaedong would've taken the ace match anyway.
oh the mindgames. Killer vs Ruby was the most probable option, and the most favourable for ACE, so ACE was expecting some random nonzerg scrub instead :-p Or maybe Anytime has some sexy build up his sleeve, we'll see

Obviously you're supposed to, and I'm sure Anytime is playing his best for ACE, but it's still an interesting fact that he's ex-Lecaf/Hwaseung himself

How the fuck could winning a match harm your chances for the playoffs more than losing it?

He meant that Anytime was accepted to ACE from Hwaseung, so you can kinda say Hwaseung is his team too.

I'm guessing this is the loss that statistically eliminates Oz from playoff contention, so he won't GG until it's absolutely ridiculous out of respect for his team.
I can't believe he lost that... he was in the clear, its 5 bases to 3, he shut down all the reaver play.... it boggles my mind how fucking terrible killer is.
I don't think Killer was really ever that far ahead. He was never near saturation on any of his mineral lines. Anytime was killing drones the whole game.

Because the army of anytime was much bigger and due to the harrassement his economic edge never could kick in. Anytime just ran into the natural of his and there was nothing he could do from there

Meaby bcuz killer just failed hard even he was in better position to win. JD at least played, meaby he just needed lil more luck, and Hiya just was unprepared for that lurker all-in(?) and lost it.

He's not that supposed to be that shit awful ZvP, I mean holy god did you see him hold at his nat with like a 5hp evo chamber? And even when he morphs all his lurkers horribly out of position he still holds, it is literally too much for me to comprehend how he lost that game. He has the elements of a good player, his management can be good, his micro can be good and yet he is worthless shit. 5 rounds he's been in development and he loses THAT game, no one should be able to be that bad

Oh man seriously torn... On one hand, I really like ACE and I want them to reach their goal of 10 wins this season, and it'd be hilarious if Ace had a 3-game win streak over Hwaseung. However, I want to see (Z)Jaedong in post-season! And (T)HiyA too, now that he's turned into such a baller. Oh well OZ better win this. Just don't send (Z)Killer for Ace.

The harassment was not very damaging, Killer should have worn that army down. He had defliers, he had the econ and without the the reavers there was no reason Anytime should have been able to bust through but instead Killers just throws his whole army at Anytime, gives him a huge window to attack and loses. There was no reason to try and crush anytime there, he had a compounding advantage and he blew it

If he had like 2 lurkers at his nat instead of sending them all to destroy a base with like 5 cannons, he would have been fine.

Well, OZ got it coming, they lost PL playoffs last season because they simply have no real backup for their ace player. Sure Hiya or Killer can win sometimes but they're still not consistent enought to be champions. It must be pretty depresing for the player when you're the only one that is not failing, and still can't bring your team to the playoffs. But oh well, he is still pretty darn good, just keep fighting BackhOZ

They just need to play MoustacheZerg, PirateZerg, and OzSucksBallsWithoutMe more. They're also S-class players, idk why they don't get played so much. But seriously. Oz would probably be worse than eSTRO/hite without Jaedong.

sorry to mini bump this, but i just saw the yellow game. in this year i kinda stopped watching progamers games because of the scandal. Im just watching a few games here and there.
the game was excelent. Im just sad that this new generation of posters have no respect to yellow at all. that's how the history is erased. little by little. maybe one year from now, boxer will play some SC2 game and those who don't have a clue about him will only say...oh noob, old grampa, etc etc
What do you mean no one respects Yellow? As a whole, Ace is probably the team that gets the most respect and support. Yellow and Reach, in particular.
What's with all this "young whippersnappers not respecting the old greats" elitist crap anyway? Yellow is a progamer like the rest of them. When he plays well, he deserves to be praised. When he plays poorly, people have reason to criticize him. Just because he happened to be a great player at one point in time shouldn't make him immune to criticism for the rest of his career.
