"A multitude of rulers is not a good thing. Let there be one ruler, one king." - Homer The dispute of which foreigner may sit on this throne will not go on for very much longer as Justin.tv proudly presents the King of the Hill 16 man Invitational tournament.
Random sorting will provide two divisions of 8 players, these players will compete in a 4 hour King of the Hill on Saturday, May 28th and Saturday, June 4th at 19CET. The final king, and player with the most wins from both brackets will advance to the semi-finals. The semi-finals will take place on June 4th at 23:30CET and will consist of a best of 3 single elimination style. The ultimate King will then be decided in an epic best of five series.

When we were approached about sponsoring a Brood Wars tournament, it only made sense to jump in and support that as well. Although SC2 is here to stay, we hope fans of BW will tune in and enjoy this "retro" Starcraft event."

So you're not inviting anyone from BSt, any Koreans, [KiDCaNaDa], iFU, or Clan [PaiN]?

So you invite one ifu and one pain player as back-up players, and stack the line-ups with LRM) players. DragOn doesn't even use the clan tag, except for CL.

On May 20 2011 14:24 ninazerg wrote: So you're not inviting anyone from BSt, any Koreans, [KiDCaNaDa], iFU, or Clan [PaiN]?
Yeah.. We actually invited people from all of the above except koreans because its a foreigner tournament. In fact we have 2 people from [pain] in there(check replacements). [KiDCaNaDa] declined originally then asked to be a backup but we already have enough backups and odds are they wont all play anyways, we invited at least 2 iFU... and one BSt... There were over 30 invitations, obviously not all accepted/replied on time.
Like of course it might look like we didn't invite a lot of people, but honestly, I think nb got the most invites if not tied with LRM, which I don't know how you can argue that since they are the two best foreign clans. Although, whoever accepted accepted, I mean my reaction if I didn't know who was invited would have been much different than yours, woulda been like RAMMS!?!? SZIKY!?!?

I'm curious why Alternative was swapped with Beltway from Group A to Group B but no other maps were changed O_o
Also, these rules make me sad:+ Show Spoiler + 8) There will be no BM whatsoever in the pregame lobby (1 warning per player) 9) There will be no chat in game and players are required to type out with a "gg" before leaving any game (1 warning per player)
I suppose since it's an official Justin.tv event though, we want to make a good impression

lol Eywa, you don't get it. Me, Pat, and Shawn (ChOseN) started out KOTH in 2006 or 2007 and literally had them running 16 gosu's 10-16 hours a day for months straight at a time.
As for Pat, the system was planned meticulously in order to promote competition and fairness for the prizes.
Edit: Heads up, this event just got 10x more epic, iNferNaL's post count just went to 1337 in support of this event.
|
Thanks for this great event. Thanks to Sayle for his elite casting, thanks to Eywa for organizing, thanks to Justin.tv (I'll definetely disable my adblock for any BW-stream I watch) and thanks to the players for delivering high level and entertaining matches. I didnt watch all of the games live. So I can enjoy the famous last match now and dont have to pay attention to my professor.

This whole thing is a giant mess anyway. Players who won their games didn't change positions with the players they beat, so they would play in the second run at the same position. That's how it worked in bracket A and it's just retarded. It makes like absolutely no sense. Anyway, the worst part is that it got changed in bracket B. Whistler won 6 games and was, after those rules, scheduled to play again but they just ignored it, going with the "change position" this time. But even then, it eventually reached the point where Whistler had to play again but, again, they ignored it because "he is qualified anyway".
About LRM)Bakuryu: He was the only player who had three attempts at racking up wins, thus it was relatively "unfair" but anyway, he lost the last game, so it didn't matter. But since Nb.TerrOR isn't able to play, it becomes an issue again. I mean, would you let the guy advance who had an advantage over all the other players and lost the game or would you let the guy advance who was the last king(FR.Bylat in this case)? Horrible decisions right there and it seems like they are favoring players which makes such a tournament a farce.
I mean, justin.tv is awesome for sponsoring such an event and the casting is superb, the players play nice games(they shouldn't have scheduled this many zergs though) but the admins really ruin it for me, leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I don't like the Semi and Final format. It's a KING OF THE HILL TOURNAMENT.
Why not have the last 4 players play KOTH for 4 hours and whoever have the most kills and second kills become the first and second place?

Because it'd be repetitive, redundant, and eventually boring viewers to tears.
