Why this map pool? Fighting Spirit: This map has been a staple of the multiplayer realm since 2009. Used in the Kespa professional map pool from 2009 to 2010 it has seen action in 19 different leagues. It's no question when it comes to balance it is the best, as the worst match up is ZvP which has a 53.4% win rate in favor of zerg. Over taking python and other notable maps, Fighting Spirit has become the standard for any multiplayer game on ICCUP.
Neo Electric Circuit and Neo Jade find themselves being played in the qualifiers as they are two of the most current maps played in the Late Kespa premier leagues. These maps show the perfect circle of life in BW. T>Z>P>T However below I'll show you what favors whom in detail.
Neo Electric Circuit: Below you can see Terran players generally have had the most success on this map and have a great advantage vZ. Protoss should also do there best to avoid this map vZ. TvZ: 22-9 (71%) ZvP: 15-7 (68.2%) PvT: 7-5 (58.3%)
Neo Jade : Below you can see Protoss has the advantage here in the matchups while Terran is less favored. This is also a map zerg would prefer to see if they are playing a Terran. TvZ: 2-2 (50%) ZvP: 5-6 (45.5%) PvT: 10-7 (58.8%)
Where can I learn more about strategy of the game? Whether new or a veteran Chill's Recommended Threads in the Brood War Strategy section can give you tons of information.
Where can I watch VODS of Brood War? The Small Vod Thread is a great resource on how to find the latest pro games on these maps. It also is a great place to add new VODs from Brood Wars finest foriegn tournaments if you find yourself with time to add any there.
Also, Sayle's youtube channel is full of VODS from our most recent foreign tournaments
Where can I find people that actively play Brood War? This whole tournament is being played through an active server called ICCUP. While there are other servers, such as FISH, this is the one the has had the best relationship with TL.
The Internation Cyber Cup also referred to as iCCup, was first launched in the year 2007. Beginning and majoring with StarCraft, iCCup continued to grow throughout the years. Eventually iCCup became so big that expansion into other areas of eSports was necessary. Thus the addition of Counter-Strike, DOTA, and WarCraft.
With the ever growing popularity of iCCup eventually it began to attract the Korean population, more so the Korean Progamers. In return, even more foreign players began to play on iCCup with the hopes of being matched up against a Progamer.
With around 3 to 4 seasons per year, a ton of money prize tournaments, Clan Leagues, and much more, iCCup became a huge success and what you see today is the result of the hard work put in by every single person that is involved in someway with iCCup.
Regards, iCCup Crew
Getting involved with Brood War on iCCup is great because it will prevent map hackers and give you the most friendly environment on earth. Learn how to start playing Starcraft on iCCup right now! This is gonna be such a great Sunday. The last day of qualifiers and so everyone is on the hotseat. Who will be the final 2 to make it into the tournament through first and second place. While many already have points to qualify there are many dark horses that could creep their way in. Everyone must be at their best!
I plan on winning, Bakuryu and Jim stopped my path to victory last time because the bracket seeds gosu players like myself against other gosu players, but this time I will sleep well before hand, and drink large quantities of vodka to get some of that Russian spirit that will bring me sweet sweet victory. It's time for another Zerg to win a qualifier and I will be that Zerg! Fear the rise of the patchzergs! Protoss showed just how OP they are in qual 5 but I sat that one out to give them a chance, no quarter will be shown this time!
:jae2:
EDIT I see my young apprentice Radley has signed up. While his vodka powers are mighty indeed, and he will definitely make it to the finals, I will still have to show him that his place is beside me in the second place throne.

Pike's fate is no longer in his hand. Pro7ect bracket seems doable, but even Bioboy won't be an easy opponent as he's probably really out of practice...

try clicking bracket when you see participants name.

Should be as usual in half hour.. or tomorrow, or maybe next time....
I think what he meant was that Pro7ect's stream suddenly doesn't appear on the TLS Q3 Unofficial column anymore, which I personally think that he don't want to risk of having the next person he faces to 'stream snipe' him.

Not at all, the admins told him to stop stream after ro8 instead of ro4 because they were going to obs it. He wanted to keep streaming.

Where did you hear that? I don't see any Admin post regarding it.

This Radley person is really the most curious. Almost seems like he made a bet not to kill buildings before killing all the units. Lets see if he starts shooting larvae next...
Well, I'm glad I was wrong Radley really did some nice tactics. With better "standard" play this would have been so easy for him. Entertaining anyway !

Yes it is, but it won't work consistently so it's not always done. That being said, my master lrm)noone told people to always cannon rush 12 hatch, and coming from someone who goes 1 hatch muta I think he is right :p

It is, but canceling/killing a hatch is less utterly crippling than in SC2, Zerglings match up against cannons quite a bit better, and making a cannon inaccessible with pylons is a lot more difficult, so the damage is not as reliable for the cost.
Omg, more Pro7ecT...*faint* Seiously, it's amazing to see him be dormant for god knows how long and then just come out of nowhere and roll his way to semis. Really hoping he makes it to the finals.
EDIT: I am disappoint. Sayle promised more Pro7ecT but did not deliver.
On January 28 2013 08:20 CruelZeratul wrote: So why exactly is it legal to just download BW from iccup and play for free?!
There is such a thing called "Spawn Installation" for StarCraft, this "Spawn Install" will let you install StarCraft on any machine to play multiplayer. So playing multiplayer is free only the singleplayer campain not.
i'm so happy that Ramms, Pro7ect, and Infected Qualified. they played really good, they deserved to play, i would have like to see radly getting in too ._., and nice to see that Nemu got in to the tournament too :D
Haven't seen the games yet but I've been a follower of Pro7ect's stream and he's really the only foreigner with decent mechanics. Glad to see him qualified after seeing a bunch of cheesefests.
Can't wait for the vods, I missed the first half because of work!
I gotta say, I took a long depression induced hiatus after the Korean BW scene collapsed, but this has been an absolute treat to watch and I now regret not sticking around to support the foreign scene more. The production quality, casting, and game quality have all exceeded my expectations. I feel rejuvenated after watching these last few qualifiers. I may never see JulyZerg or Bisu play BW again, but it ain't the players: its the game.
Thanks so much to TL for putting this on and to Razer and Twitch for sponsoring!

Some terran tried to bunker rush him.
hahahahaha that's amazing, i knew that koreans profesionals, don't like Sc2, lot of them retired, and they seem to don't enjoy the game, i think bisu is going to retire and play some Sospa/Sonic Leagues/tournaments xD
