Carnac asked me to move this to its own thread, it was originally a reply to his great sum up post in News.

a few interesting facts: the selection process for the MSL is so much more interesting than for the OSL because of all the drama that crops up.
subplot 1:
the main story of course is group A.
some of you may have noticed, but the group is savior vs. the entire ongamenet sparkyz team. this was not by accident. during the selection, both yellow[name] and bifrost both said they wanted to play savior. savior took this as a diss and was steaming all the way through the selection. he asked that all the sparkyz be put into his group, and players complied throughout the selection.
when it was terato's turn, he came up and said he did not want to play against savior (probably b/c he didn't want to be in the same group as his teammates). he was put into group b.
however, when it came to rA's turn, rA asked for some time, went and asked savior something (thus the picture of them looking like they're making out), then came back and put terato in group A. when asked what savior told him, rA said that he didn't want to stick 3 of the same teammates into 1 group, and had asked savior if pusan would be ok. savior replied that only terato would do. and since savior would bring in terato into group A even if rA did not, rA complied.
when it was savior's turn, he said "i originally wanted to play someone else, but when the sparkyz team got uppity, i feel that they should get exactly what they want. they instigated this, so they're getting what they deserve." he then added, "i am going to set up the worst case scenario for ongamenet sparkyz." then he went and made his switch-- matching up bifrost (a strong tvz) with yellow[name], and making terato his first opponent.
terato then demanded the mike, and clearly angry (the dude was like shivering with rage) he said, "i explicitly said i did not want this to happen, but because he set it up this way, i will make him pay."
thus, group A will be fun to watch.
plot 2
what should've been the main story was eclipsed by the savior/sparkz drama: this msl is probably boxer's last major competition. he expressed before the selection that he really wanted to play against rA. somehow he was put into exactly that spot, and when asked, said "i know he is the type of player who won't shrink away from our match. i don't think he'll switch me out."
when it was rA's turn, he was asked how he felt about playing against boxer. rA replied that he, too, came wanting to play against boxer. in rA's words, "every opportunity to play with boxer is a glorious honor and i would select playing against him in every single instance." the amount of respect and status that boxer wields among the pros is blatantly obvious in events like this.
plot 3
jju was the most chest thumping participant of them all-- his entire attitude exuded arrogance, saying that "i rarely practice zvp because it's boring (i.e. it's too easy) which is why i i haven't done well in zvp. but all tosses are easy. any zerg user with any self respect has to believe that." when asked who is the toss he'd most like to face, he said "kingdom is the most laughable." of course, last season was when kingdom and jju played that legendary game on luna where kingdom won a huge comeback victory using dark archons and with both players mining out the map. kingdom said something like "someone who lost so badly should stay quiet." jju switched himself to play against kingdom, but later kingdom switched jju out for nada, explaining that this season he wants to master pvt. nada replied, "i will put everything i have into the next week for this game."
some other interesting tidbits: midas switching out xellos for chojja into his group (perhaps he's working on his tvz? july in the osl and chojja in the msl). chojja claiming that he wants to play zergs, and that the toughest two zvz's in the tourney are savior and jju.
that's all i remember for now, but this season's MSL is going to be lots of fun. especially group A ^^
For a Toss, yeah. Wow pick a once great Terran who has qualified for his first major in like 2 years or a very consistant Zerg..........
I wanted Savior to lose to Terato today, but now that I read that I think it would be great if he swamped their whole team, force them into a mired existance. :D What can I say I dont like them after Casy vs Chojja
On August 24 2006 08:22 Wasabi wrote: too bad goodfriend wasn't around to bash everyone in his group, lol
this is pretty funny, sounds like only nada and chojja made a non-arrogant comment -.-
i dont think nada has ever said anything arrogant. from all the translated interviews we've seen, he always says the same thing. 'ill give it my all' etc etc. but i like that from him, he lets his play do his talking.
Bifrost... has a slight slight chance of beating Savior. It's unforunate that Sparkyz only really have 1 Zerg killer ~_~. Yellow Name won't beat Savior. Even though it's ZvZ.. Yellow's only problem is his ZvZ. Ugh Savior you assssssssshole. You assssshole. Eliminating my favorite team in group stages. Terato.. eh, whatever, never a fan. Despite Mensrea's SO WRONG predictions lol ~_~
God I wish Casy was here to put up a good fight, and hopefully beat Savior T.T
And Kingdom doesn't dodge -_-;; Kingdom is King. Jju? Kingdom? Plz~ As awesome as Jju is... he is a 4th place at best lol. Kingdom has a far more prestigious history than him plus his PvZ can be so godly at times.
Should do the same for OGN group selection. I thought it was pretty interesting as well. Group A in OGN is unique as well. Casy picks Anytime. Anytime then picks Midas and tells him to pick the other '86 as well. Midas goes on to pick July. They are all born in 1986. They wanna find out who is the best progamer among the 86'ers!
When Casy told Anytime that he will knock him out, Anytime talks about the legend of Autumn. When Garimto won, there were only 2 tosses in the league. When Reach won there were only 3 tosses. This time 4 tosses, but still, only a few. And only time toss didnt win was when there were several tosses in the league. Will the legend continue? Hopefully.
And oh, Canata sounds like a fcking fgt. Arrogant btch.

again, nice work uhjoo~
Canata?? you mean JJu? because JJu is fucking retarded. Didn't he lose like 6 ZvZ in a row in the last MSL?
dude jju owns. plus he was being risky in every game against chojja and lost 0-3 and also lost 0-3 to yellow. they are both the top zvz'ers as far as i think. as for savior, really[alive] vs savior i always wanted to see, but boxer vs savior will do just fine.
It's good to see a champion like Savior who once winning the most prestigious leagues doesn't feel so accomplished that he can now lay back and take it easy.
I find the Jju thing to be funny. Personally, I think his arrogant ZvP attitude is well justified. He kicks ass at it. One game against Kingdom doesn't change that, and quite frankly I would fear for Kingdom if he faced Jju. He obviously switched Nada in so he'd have a chance to win, rather than getting raped senseles by Jju.
But Chojja thinks Jju's one of the strongest Zergs in the tournament? In ZvZ?
Considering the disgrace that Jju put on in the last OSL season (Twice no less!!!) I'd say his ZvZ is a joke until otherwise proven.

Sadly, shut up and never speak of it again.
Savior will rape ogn sparkyz eZ~
Sadly... he's right. Though pointing it out is somewhat whiney and very redundant, you sound like a clueless idiot if you're saying it's not true. Not that you said that of course...did you?

Actually, it wasn't one game - it was 2 2-0.
And, well, people say it was a come back by kingdom, I say it was an almost come back by jju, because kingdom MUTILATED jju with zealot rush that game.
my humble predictions and analysis: i love the fact that savior made something out of nothing in this vs. sparkyz business. to be honest, he's been getting bashed left and right by the korean community for doing so (especially b/c he brought terato into it). but i think it's good not only for progaming, but also because i think he's searching for an additional motivation for this tournament. all progamers are always searching for additional sources of motivation to bump up their performance.
that said, savior must beat yellow[name] to make it out of his group. if he loses to yellow[name] and must play bifrost, he very well might not make it. of course if he plays terato again it's a no brainer.
daezang got the rawest draw out of all. he's in a group full of genuine toss killers. i've had my eye on this guy for a long time and he has all the skills, but he seems to lack a killer instinct. it's like he doesn't know yet if he belongs with the big boys. if he makes it out of the group, it's a huge huge accomplishment and hanbit has a genuine ace to compliment GGPlay.
i like jju's attitude overall because honestly, irl ALL progamers are arrogant bastards, and at least he's being himself. the only progamer who's won a major with a humble attitude imo is casy, and he was on fire the whole tournament. a progamer without arrogance is doomed to fail. for example, nada has really lost his swagger from his halcyon years b/c back then he just had this evil self assuredness even though he talked like a chipmunk. maybe it's because he got new teeth or something but it just seems like he has lost his edge. i hope he finds it again.
savior's my new hero rape the ogn sparkyz noobs ez please and then play their ace casy i love casy, but savior winning would be toooooo sick drama rocks

I just have to like Savior more. OGN Sparkyz is considered to be one of the best teams and he is going to show them who is boss. Just awesome. The sick part of it all is that he not only has the skill to back it up...but he has it in DROVES. Just look at his game against Terato. That's the most unadultered ZvP rape I have ever seen in my life. Not only was his execution so astounding, but he has the strategic depth to make Terato think what he wants him to think. He is in his mind so deep that he is everywhere Terato goes and he is everything Terato knows.
Boxer really had two people he could have gone to I think: Ra and NaDa, but TvT is the less interesting match and most of the Boxer/NaDa games have had a much lighter atmosphere, with less at stake. Ra was the obvious choice.
I would say that Kingdom is scared of Jju except that Kingdom picked someone who 2-0'd him recently. I think Kingdom is in for revenge.
Believe it or not, I think Midas picked someone he thought would be an easier pick. Midas is 4-0 over Chojja now in professional matches, and as far as top tier Terrans go, Midas is one of the strongest TvZ whereas in so far as top tier Zergs go, Chojja is one of the weakest ZvT (sorry tfeign, but it's true...the best macro Terrans all have winning records over him and the best control Terrans all have winning records over him...of all the top Terrans, Chojja seems strongest against Xellos, who is a little bit of both). More to it than just that, I think Midas knows how to Control Chojja's style.
Of course Chojja wants to ZvZ Savior and Jju. There are exactly 3 Zergs who Chojja has to beat before he's proved once and for all that he is god of ZvZ and that if you are a Zerg you must fear him...they are Savior who is 9-8 over Chojja, Jju who is 5-5 against Chojja (even after Chojja 3-0 raped him), and Yellow who is 8-6 over Chojja. Yellow is not in this tournament, but Jju and Savior are.
I just hate savior now, whata arrogant prick. 3 team mates in the same group, thats really sad. i hope they arrange some games to put savior at least in 2nd place.
For those Chojja defenders out there, I don't hate him...I just think his ZvT is not up to par for a top tier Zerg. The Casy/Yellow series was much more exciting, and the only map Chojja really seems to score big wins on lately is Rush Hour. You can argue the other maps are bad for ZvT all you want, but other players are getting wins on them.
I kinda feel his ZvT is overrated, or maybe it's just tfeign that overrates him. His ZvP is definetly underrated. People point to his losses against Reach and Nal_Ra and say "look, he's not so good," but Reach and Ra are his practice partners. Among teammates anything can happen. Look at how Chojja dismantles Stork (both in OSL and WCG). That's just impressive, especially game 2 WCG Korea. Chojja was in the losing position by far, but he was patient and persistent and it paid off big and then he totally turned the table on Stork and gave him prison sex to remember in game 3.
On those lines, I think Stork is underrated PvZ. His horrible record can in quite large part be attributed to Chojja. I still remember that epic game of Stork vs Gorush on Requiem during SKY Proleague last year. Simply amazing.
sAvior is gonna keep raping Chojja is ZvZ. And also..
The game vs Terato was pure amazingness. he didn't even attacked properly, I mean terato, tried to do some damage with 3 zealots, and what he got in return? a rape.
=P.
I think terato suspected Mutas, and if he did, and he did not went mass canons..then...:D

rofl man, I love your writing. Your posts are great reading, keep it up! and yea that game between Stork and Gorush was simply amazing! Probably one of my fav games ever
I still don't understand what exactly Savior was mad about or did they have a history of bming eachother? either way, why did Terato get so upset? we all know he's weak but at least so far he has being respectable. i hope terato gets the inspiration now to finally rise to the next level.
Man, for some reason savior really ticks me off. I mean he's a great player and has been owning up lately, but I don't know, he seems too cocky. I hope the emperor puts him in his place .

Ehm, Savior got 'offended' by sparkyz players saying they wished to play him in this league..
So he placed ALL players from sparkyz in the same group with him, meaning they'll have to knock eachother out -_-

To the best of my knowlede, Terato has never made it past the second round of a starleague, then he manages to requalify for MSL and BAM! Savior's junk hit him in the chest like a double barrel shotgun.

Arrogant? I think he's pretty well justified when 2/3 of a team decides to gang up on him specifically with the intent of taking him out.
