Where: All matches will be attempted to be played on ICCUP.
When: 1st Tournament Saturday, Mar 18 7:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00), and every other Saturday from then on until I hate doing it.
Who: Literally anyone who can get on ICCUP.
Prizepool:
$100 1st - $75 2nd - $25
This is being sponsored/funded by me, personally.
Why: Broodwar is an amazing game, I feel like a lot of people love watching Broodwar but they don't have many opportunities to do so. I want to create easy-to-consume Broodwar content that people will be able to engage with. As the series grows I hope to find more avenues to increase the prizepool or feed it into a larger tournament series!
Map Banning will be done via Smash.GG website. The Map Banning process will be the same as Smash Melee (I’m trying something here). Order: A player bans 1 map, then B player bans 2, then A bans 1, then last map is map to be played on. Loser of first map picks 2nd map after winner bans 1. Salty runbacks are allowed (Salty Runback: A loser can re-pick a map they have lost on, however if a player has won on that map, they cannot pick it again).
Players must check-in within 10 minutes after round starting, there is a dialogue box on Smash.gg website to check-in, engage it by clicking on your match. There's a chat box available to chat with your opponent.
Each round lasts one hour, do not be late to the first round and stay aware by joining the ICCUP Channel name "HaveAtYou" during the time of the tournament.
Report results after each match, both winner & loser should confirm on Smash.gg.
Replays must be submitted after the series is complete by the winner of the series! Submitting a replay will be done by emailing to Schamtoo@gmail.com with subject "Have At You" and which match is being submitted.
If a player disconnects during the first 2 minutes of a game they will be granted a re-match. Any problems arising will be revised case-by-case.
As of now, we have no limit on what races can be played.
tldr; Go to smash.gg, click your match, check-in, ban maps, pick race, chat if you need to on there or iccup lobby, play match, record results, continue through series, after series email. Here's a nice gif of the process: http://imgur.com/a/pCG59
Contact: I'm looking for semi-experienced admins to help run this tournament! Please send me a PM on TL.net
$100 out-of-pocket prize pool every two weeks? That's really outstanding. This should be a lot of fun just cause it can feel really episodic being open registration. Good luck with deciding on a format and all that. Would love to see a rotating map pool.

Yeah I'm hoping to force a rotation but also allow map-striking. Early rounds will have things like Fighting Spirit so people who are lower-seed can feel comfy, but later rounds I wanna push the envelope with less familiar maps for those who are a bit more proficient at the game :D (Early thoughts, who knows if this will end up being rules)
If it features a prize pool, and has no rank restriction on participants, it will attract quite many players. I recommend the tourney to be started (maybe 2h?) before the cast, and be casted from replays. That way you can avoid or minimize some of the usual problems for such tourneys: * lag issues (especially if you get a co-caster.) * looking/waiting for games to cast on stream. So once you cast, you can feature some of the best games, and then switch to semi finals or finals or whatever stage you feel like casting.
On March 07 2017 12:16 Cryoc wrote: Does your tour site provide the ability to upload the replays of the games? That would be somewhat important.
It doesn't yet. I've only run into one or two sites that do allow map-uplaod, but other things they have kinda make me not want to use them.
The folks at smash.gg are providing some amazing support and wanted to partner with me on this, so I figure I could give them some valuable feedback on StarCraft tournaments in general.
I'm looking for any comments/complaints you may have on the site for use for SC tournaments :D
For this tournament we may just use an email address for uploading tournament replays.
registration is in english afterwards if you go to a random tournament and click english in top right, all of tournament page and the tournaments should be in english. only thing not in english is the "community news" on front page (unless i missed something)
this is so funny xD,there is not a single word in russian in the register section. http://defiler.ru/register -_- u just need to win the marine game to register so...

I think it's 22:00 CET if i do my math right. +8 from my current time zone... I can adjust next tournament if it's a massive cause of people not playing.
EDIT: I wrote some stuff about the time and date function but I realized that you already used it correctly. I think the problem is that you have it written as PST and not PDT ? Is that even a thing? I know that I had to start writing times as EDT instead of EST.
It's because we just had daylight savings time and fucked up the timezones again. Honestly it's such a stupid gimmick here in the USA but nobody wants to change it.

They do it in Europe as well, just their clocks have not changed over yet.

+1
Loser of first map picks 2nd map after winner bans 1. Salty runbacks are allowed.
So if I lose, in the first step my opponent bans a map, then from the rest I can choose?
Salty runbacks are allowed.
Mainly used within the Fighting Game Community, a Salty Runback is the act of losing a match in a fighting game and angrily demanding a rematch from your opponent. The resulting rematch is a Salty Runback
It doesn`t even mean anything (even in your community)...
Registered! What time CET is this? I thought 1-2pm or something but comments guessing evening 23cet :O Hopefully I'll be there in time, pretty big cap though :D
I just want to say i will be assisting SchAmToo as an admin for the tour;
As of now there are 26 people signed up and some pretty big names in there too; please re-read the rules before the tournament starts, in about 7 hours from this post, and if you win a series send your replays to Schamtoo@gmail.com subject "haveatyou", including your iccup name and your opponents name; please read especially but not only about how maps will be selected via elimination by users (you) and the things to take care of on smashgg.com If you get knocked out please be kind enough to report the loss on smashgg.com If you have problems hosting your games and for any other kind of problems just write toSchAmToo or me we will be on iccup channel;
Also, as of now racepicking, random and switching race inbeetwen games is allowed
Please remember to check-in via smash.gg at the time the tournament starts, between games, and between series. Do so by clicking on your match in the bracket!!
Yeah, some people signed up to another tournament which has just started, hopefully you'll be leniant with them, because you kinda changed your time last minute!
On March 19 2017 03:44 B-royal wrote: A lot of people start at round 2, can we play those games already or do we really have to wait until 21 CET?
Unfortunately not through Smash.gg. I haven't used this TO website yet.
HOWEVER if you and your opponent want to, as long as you follow the rules and submit replays, just remember to log results later on (or tell an admin to).
Locking Brackets Please check-in at your round time! Remember to log results and email me your matches.
nice tourney,at the begin the use of the site is a bit confusing(specially for players that are used to iccup tourney system or defiler.ru),but the ban map system is pretty cool, there should be a better option so only checked in players take part of the grid, otherwise we will have false expectations of the exact number of player for the tourney and the useless waiting.

Shame... I wanted to play but the time was changed 1 day before and I arranged my plans to be back at 21.00 CET... when I arrived I was already DQ and 2nd round was over lol

Haha, the things that get uncovered in the 'Have At You' bi-weekly thread I'm glad you liked it, it is a classic indeed. However did you stumble upon it?
