In the past few days in the couple of hours I managed to catch Stork streaming he was beating EffOrt, hero, July in vZ matches. vT however, he had a hard time beating Rush, Mind, Mong, FBH even just once, while losing to Flash, Sharp, Rush, Mind, Mong many times.

Maybe he'll pull out that scout build he used to beat Mind on Crossing Field and that will be enough to get the best of Last. He might be young enough not to have ever seen one of those units.

Stork has not scare anyone, excepting Flash. His TvsP is very strong, especially on new maps, he can use carrier. Last only takes win by people are weaker than him and Ssak is skill so well but he will lose at Rush Gold map, the map of the mind war.

To be honest I don't know to much about how good he is. I think MisO is a lot better than people give him credit for. He's dead last in the ASL 4 Power Rank and I can't agree with that. He's had solid games across GTB and KCM Race Survivals and he looks more than decent. That said, this is a tough group for him. Even if he's among the stronger Zerg players right now, sSak and Last might be almost insurmountable.

Keeping up with the Stork progress thread has been enjoyable and I'd love for it to pay off here. Heart says Stork can show why he was once considered one of the five best players on the planet. I didn't have time to watch and update that thread properly but all I can say it will be haaard for him to get through potentially 3 PvTs. It seems like both the harass-heavy Gold Rush and macro oriented Crossing Field posed some problems for him, even though he tried to make carriers work. It went fine like one time out of every three matches. Anyway, he's always better offline so I hope he'll pull through. Now, Last v Where. Last already better than Light yesterday.

You're saying he should have took his 4th at 9 and made gates there, right? Terran went 2 base drop so i think he wanted to take a closer 4th just to be safe (safer worker transfer, faster to reach that base to defend vs drops because he won't need to walk through mine fields). Also, even if he has a few proxy gates in order to flank he wouldn't have been able to pump out a ton of units that early in the game, they could have been dealt with with just mines/vulture pokes.

He did have some in his top left base, but I don't think the eggs were dead (so they could only leave through going towards his main, thus basically just being slower reinforcements) and they were added too late. I don't think that's a good flanking gateway location anyway. He killed at least one gas when he took the 4th (against vultures I assume). So there was no way even if he killed the eggs.

I don't even think the gates need to be at the 4th, tbh. If I play pvt fighting spirit and I'm 5 and he's 7, I take 3 as my third and 1 as my 4th, but I'm adding gateways 6-8 in 11 main. I think he could have made 3-4 gateways at 9 at a much earlier time, maybe even before taking the 4th, and it'd enable him to flank or backstab in a way that really crushes dedicated 2 base pushes, especially on a map like this where he can block off expansions so the refugee style of play works out wonderfully.

Incredible! Incredible! He's done it. After a failed reaver drop and having his nat and 3rd demolished by Last's 2base fac push Stork turns the whole thing around with beautiful storms, great macro, and amazing stasises. Samsung Protoss, Dino toss, Stork -- at his best.

Well I knew stork was still very much in it when I saw the supply count after Last killed 2 bases. They were close (bad for P), but the tank count was gone. all of that was vultures. no threat to Stork. He just needed to not die for a while. What I didnt catch is how/why Last screwed up the initial push. There was no way Stork should have broken out of that contain. He shldve just taken a few tanks to kill the middle base. He instaed took everything and allowed Stork to get out of his natural.

I don't think Last scanned or noticed that DT there and that was crucial. Also, one other thing I noticed was that after killing Stork's 3rd Last went up to top with two vultures to block the 1 o'clock base's natural but he never went up the ramp to check the 1 o'clock. I think that he missed the fact that Stork already had the expansion up. Stork played with great pace this last match. Something I missed last season and in a couple of tough vT losses on his stream.

Again, how Last managed to lose his entire army to a P that split his army and had the backstab group vaporized, I dont quite understand, he really underestimated stork then. He probably thought he already won. After that, if he really forgot upgrades then that was huge, but even if he didnt, it was going to be an uphill battle. Stork knows how to break pushes and trade units efficiently. Last stayed on 3 bases for too long. Maybe with upgrades he would have been able to hold the 4th and stabilize, but now we''ll never know...

He knew that Last's strength was in getting a good position, getting more expansions up, and just overwhelming Stork several minutes down the line when the loss of those Nexuses really kicked in. He wanted to trade off really quickly to prevent Last from moving out, and then when Last re-maxed and went for 9 o'clock, Stork moved in again to deny it, since it was Last's only hope at that point. Shaky start, but man did Stork pull it back.

That makes perfect sense. Even the observer focused on that attack so it's very plausible Last did the same and just switched back to see he had nothing left of his initial army. I would like to watch the replay to confirm but I also suspect he indeed missed out on Stork's 1 o'clock expo, when he placed down the mines there and just turned around, so he might have decided to not expand because he thought he was still ahead anyway.

Last made a critcal error by sacrificing way too much to take out the 3 o'clock after killing Stork's nat. He would've been better containing him to his main imo and using smaller forces to poke at his expos. Think Last got a little cocky. I think maybe he didnt scout the 1 o'clock expo. Crucial error if so!

The two vultures going scouting towards the 1 o'clock happens before Last's push and I do think he made an error or just a costly mistake not going up the ramp. You can check his vultures checking the nat but not the main of the 1 o'clock here at this timestamp. https://gaming.youtube.com/watch?t=6670&v=jrqsqrGlisc On September 11 2017 23:06 RowdierBob wrote: Thought he muffed it taking his fourth way too soon after losing the reaver so cheaply but what do I know?! I think TT1 was referring to the second push as Last was taking his 4th. The first push was, as you said, a very good decision which should have ended the game or given him an insurmountable lead. The mistake with the tanks and, apparently a DT which did too much damage, cost Last the game.

At that point they were pretty even on supply and sometimes it's a good decision to push out earlier instead of letting P have a chance of getting back in the game. Also he knew zealot speed wasn't going to finish soon. He did make a key mistake of losing all his tanks to kill a nexus which is not a good trade. This is what I'm talking about: Last pushes out with 1-0 at a point in the game where he should have been 2-1 (considering how late his 4th was, how early his 3rd was and how late he pushed out). His decision to push out with 1-0 is already flawed.. but then he decides to push out over the bridges and expose his tanks with no mine support, his tanks are completely exposed. Stork trades out evenly in supply with Last (70 to 70 which obviously isnt good for Terran, he lost a ton of tanks) but he's taking his 5th at this point and already has all his gateways up. Last has to remake his tanks (which takes a long time) and he's reinforcing his army with weak upgrades. He should have been 2-1 when he pushed out and he should have been at least 3-1 by the time the later engagements happened. In any case after this exchange Stork has a huge lead, Last mined out his main and Stork was sitting on 5 bases.

Anyway, Stork just showed that a talent is for life! It's amazing how he wins the games with his strategic thinking. Only if he had a little better macro and multitasking, he would be unbeatable!

As for the last game, wp by Stork. Despite losing his 2 nexi, he destroyed Last's army and rebuilt them right away. Last also never found that fourth base I believe so he might've thought it's 3 base vs 1 base at that point. From there, Stork took a great second engagement and thinned out Last's tank line and the rest was history with Stork having the base and eco advantage.

The upgrades kicked while the battle was going. Had he crossed the bridge 10 seconds later, we might have seen a different outcome there. This. 2-1 finished immediately after the battle. Game winning decision from Stork right there imo, very few Protoss attack before the full mech army has moved out of the bridge, but Stork attacked right before Last could lay mines and 2-1 kicked in, catching him offguard . I also like that Stork was using shuttle in every engagement, for dt/zealot drops or to get the storms out safely

edit: but then again any successful storms in PvT can be considered Jangbi-esque. Great game anyhow.

I'm not sure the two are analogous. Stork lost a ton of economy, but he was able to clean up that first push quite efficiently and the mech army takes a long time to rebuild, so he was able to get his economy back up while still keeping up in supply. I guess you could liken it to Terran suiciding 4 groups of bio to kill your natural, but you still have 10 lurkers lol.

I think Last was just trying to set up outside the bridge and not moving out which is quite common for TvP in FS. The main reason behind doing that is if you camp too long in base P can just form a concave outside the bridge and it is very hard to break out. But yeah he probably should have waited a while more to secure that position but definitely good attack from Stork.

I can't understand why Last played so uncharacteristically weak in both his games? What's up with weak 1-0 upgrades. Very strange. Can someone knowledgeable comment on his decision making? On the other hand two last engagements were state-of-the-art PvT from Stork.

I think fuckup might be too harsh. Not to sound cliche but this really shows what a game of inches brood war can be. That engage itself was about 6-8 seconds, which means that Last was 8 seconds away from 2-1 and was just edging knowing it was about done. But I guess its these decisions that separate great from bonjwa.

I am really impressed with sSak over the past couple of years, I have always dismissed him as a mediocre player at best because that is how I remember him from the pro days. But he has stayed active throughout the amateur era and has shown some great play. I should've stopped dismissing him by now...
