So we’re going to try this again…

With Season 2 of League of Legends in full force, there are plenty of tournaments and event going on at the highest level. However, there’s no premiere source for pro scene information, so this is where our little subforum on TeamLiquid is going to take some initiative.

The purpose of this thread is to function like a mini wiki, with major updates cataloguing all the milestones on a monthly basis. Ideas I have are to track teams+rosters at tournaments, tournament placements, roster changes, etc. This is a communal effort where we keep things as detailed as we are able to with our volunteers.
Tenatitively, sections will look like:
+ Show Spoiler [Dec. 2011] +

+ Show Spoiler [Tournaments] +

+ Show Spoiler [Roster Changes] +

Team Rosters will be used to update the Database. I’m open to ideas on what else to include in the sections.
Tournaments with detailed OPs (e.g. all the MLG, WCG) will be linked. Other tournaments lacking details/threads (e.g. NESL Season II Finals) will rely on this thread for recollection.

Things that we will not tolerate in this thread because it simply derails our objectives:
- Drama that has nothing to do with the professional gaming scene (e.g. what pro LoL players do in their personal lives are not relevant to discussion. Things like the “Behkuh” drama should not even be broached in this thread.
- Personal opinions of players or teams that are not analytically based (e.g. CLG dropping Elementz does not suddenly make “CLG a trash team”. You may or may not agree with the decision but your opinion has little impact on the final say.)
- Zero tolerance for offensive meme (e.g. “Scumbag Jatt” has really run its course)

We’ll start off with this month. The major player transaction for December so far is Elementz moving from CLG to Crs, taking the role of Support. This roster swap also means that SYDTKO, who has been with Crs since inception (even back when they were UnRestricted), will now be benched.

Someone do me the favor of listing all the major tournaments for this month so we can start working on them?

I know this might be a bit too much to ask for but it might be something to consider, as you can now customize the left part with what topics you want wouldn't it be possible to also do the same on the right side with streams to make it include LOL or even only LOL. I feel as I use TL as the main source for LOL these days and it would be amazing to be able to use it well for that purpose and hopefully have streamers put themselves there as well as the site is great. This would be especially the case when there are tournaments, I have basically no clue when, what etc they will happen and having it on the right side with the streams would be so nice.

I feel that it's a great upgrade fpr Crs. Elementz showing of how much he did for CLG, having them not be nearly the force to be reconned with like they used to. I've always felt that SYDTKO is a subpar player he has shown time and time again that he doesn't understand the game. (Grave wasn't op at release lol). I can understand their reasoning for bencging Elementz but they really need to step up their game.

Elementz really proved his worth for crs already, he seems solid and crs seems to have a pretty good chemestry and combination of players. Crs moving up hopefully.

Uh. What?

They didn't qualify for Kiev, sure, but the only other tournament they've been in they won the entire thing. Beating TSM and Crs to do it. Elementz is a solid support he's just got a bad lane phase because he's so passive in lane as a support. CLG's biggest problem was losing their bot lane and now that they have Doublelift who can CS well and a support player who plays aggressive (both Chauster and HSGG play aggressive support) I think their bot lane is going to be a major threat.

The thing that Elementz has that Chauster/HSGG don't is proper warding. The only other support type thing they need is to get timers down but Ele didn't even do that when he was on CLG. Like, warding and timers is probably the easiest part of playing support it just takes grinding out a ton of games until you get it down. I think CLG's bot lane is waaaay stronger without Elementz they're just missing out on some warding that'll come in time.

I feel that it's a great upgrade fpr Crs. Elementz showing of how much he did for CLG, having them not be nearly the force to be reconned with like they used to. I've always felt that SYDTKO is a subpar player he has shown time and time again that he doesn't understand the game. (Grave wasn't op at release lol). I can understand their reasoning for bencging Elementz but they really need to step up their game.

Then why did Doublelift say SYDTKO was the strongest member of crs and was confused as to why they were benching him. He understands the game really well, albeit he was far off on his opinion of graves, that is the only time I have ever seen him be wrong, and saying he has shown time and again is dishonest and just fishing for reasons to justify this.

SYDTKO isnt up to snuff in terms of competitive play. He cant play a single role anywhere near competitive level, and his theory craft has always been a bit suspect.

Double isnt all that smart if that is what he actually thinks. NY and Po are much stronger than SYDTKO.

Not to mention the fact that Double is freaking terrible at anything that isnt straight up micro in game. His decision making and in game positioning (ie where he is on the map at certain times) is TERRIBLE.

I decided to write this because i just saw the new formed CLG eu team, which is formed out of some players from AL, SK and something else (dont know where yellowpete played at).
This was only one of around 10 move arounds in the last 2 months. It all started with Wickd leaving SK (before that, teams where kinda consistend, except SK). Now the crazyness starts.
AL is formed (Wickd, Moma, Froggen, Failer, Soaz, Lyumi).
Moma joins AL.
Moma leaves AL, joins SK.
Soaz leaves AL, Kbap joins.
mTw partnership with AL announced.
partnership stops for unknown reasons.
Kbap leaves AL.
CLG eu is formed, AL disbands Lyumi and failer, Froggen and Wickd join CLG, Snoopeh leaves SK joins CLG.
This all happened within one and a half month by two teams! Pretty crazy in my opinion...
I dont know it just seems so unprofessional. If you look to the SC 2 scene (and its the only eSports scene i can compare this with), the only ones who do stuff like this are Naniwa and maybe Major, but not THAT often.
But what made me really angry were the comments on the official LoL forums.
It was stuff like,

Just for the money

SK so fucked omg

omg wickd biggest asshole

...

and so on.
I mean, thats just really really bm.
I know its not professional by them, but why would say such things

I really really hope that this changes, because i love League of Legends alot and i play it alot

I apologize for my bad writing

I guess it's because there's no money in these pro teams contracts that the teams switch around so much? Does seem weird that mTw partnership died so quickly though (only explanation I can think of is for money).

I wanted to see Kbab own up IEM.

Hard to keep up with all the changes SK or Wickd is doing on EU side, but at least fnatic are like super stable and their scrims are a joy to tune in to. Such a chilled atmosphere they play in, maybe that's why they're sticking together, everyone seems to have fun.

So, Riot says that Dyrus can't go to Kiev. I don't know what's changed between Season 1 and Season 2 to make it only now illegal to sub members, but something about the situation stinks to me. Hopefully there will be a resolution, because the last thing the scene needs for its legitimacy is a team not being able to go to an event because they can't get a good sub.

I think NA competitive LoL has been capped for a while. Teams aren't deviating to anything different, players are choosing heroes they can't play, and most importantly, teams are still make simple mistakes due to a lack of extended practice with each other. They all play solo queue and the games end up being like solo queue.

His family isn't letting him go because they feel like he won't be safe for some reason. I think Riot is making a huge mistake not allowing subs from teams not present, so I hope they come to their senses.

I think the main reason a lot of LoL players are tending to jump around unlike SC2 players is this is a team game. In SC2 no matter how much IdrA may or may not hate Huk he never actually has to play WITH him in a tournament. They live together, maybe practice together from time to time, but there are no personality clashes once they get to a tournament. That's not true for LoL and when egos clash there a player really doesnt have a ton of options.
They can suck it up and hope that whoever is leading the team makes good decisions, they can leave the team and try to find one that they fit in better with, or they can quit the competitive scene. I don't think many people that play this genre of game are nearly humble enough to realize that they are wrong and as a result many players choose to leave.

Hotshot is being really smart about running CLG. He's pretty much on course to be set for the rest of his life if he plays his cards right with CLG.

Yeah, the StarCraft comparisons to the pro-LoL scene have never worked because the games are completely different. Iirc the whole reason wickd left SK was because he didn't like CandyPanda. Most of the players who have quit teams do so because they dislike one or more of the people on the team.

From a financial standpoint it's also really risky for Goose to go to Kiev.

I'm guessing that Riot has enacted that rule to get new blood into the scene. It's the only reason I could think of for making such a rule. Although, that rule could potentially be partial fall out from the Jatt and CLG/Lapaka situation.
