The subject of this thread is not a license to roll out your inaccurate, misinformed, poorly conceived, tired, and downright offensive theories about race relations.

Honestly the fact that anybody brought this up in the first place is just stupid, people say things like this all the time, nobody's going to get their panties in a wad if Idra or Destiny call someone a nigger so why single Orb out like this.
You're posting in this thread of all threads and you're "pretty sure" nobody cares? Have you read even 1 single post in this 30 page thread?
It certainly begs the question why everyone is up in a fury right now. Before Orb joined EG, no one gave two shits about what he said on his stream. Now that he's on EG, suddenly everyone is in an uproar right now over two posts that happened while he wasn't affiliated with EG and one that might not even be him.
Thats not true; I have always avoided his casts and also avoided other SC2 personalities because I found them offensive. I won't name names, but a few of them are quite bad about this.
Fair enough. My point is that a lot of these keyboard warriors and white knights on reddit didn't give a crap about Orb or what he said on his stream. Now that he's a more public figure and a caster for EG, they scream about how they're SO offended by the use of the N-word. Bullshit, they don't give a crap that he used the N-word, he's just a victim of the reddit drama queens.
This is a completely baseless assumption. You cannot possibly know what people are thinking or have thought in the past. Your post comes off as a cheap rationalization for your own opinions about incredibly offensive speech.

How old are you? This is a serious question, and I'm not trying to be condescending.
He has a point. The words are rude, but honestly, everyone knows that the intent of the speaker is at worst inconsiderate in this case. There's no serious likelihood of bigotry in a tangible sense, unless you're the sort who thinks the mere uttering of a word constitutes a concentrated attack on a particular group (it doesn't).
Nothing that has surfaced thus far, no. The replays are all from before he joined EG, but he did lie about it to EG after the whole thing came up.
I used to occasionally watch Orb's stream during the beta prior to starcrafts release and I don't see this as being anything new. He used to (and apparently still does) completely break down, venting similar colourful language after his mistakes. I don't have any evidence of this but I'm sure anyone else who watched his stream would say likewise.
Personnely I am fairly tolerable when it comes swearing and raging theres something about the emotional basket case that Orb reduces himself to when he screws up. I can understand anger at losing. I experience it, but mine has always been directed internally at myself. Theres just something pitiful about the unprovoked mental breakdown that Orb exhibits on a seemingly regular basis. Whether it is right or wrong to ever use the words "nigger" or "faggot" only a fool would use them while representing a professional organisation like EG and then badly trying to cover it up.
TL:DR
Orb needs to get a grip of himself while playing and learn some fucking self control.

Boycotting Intel? Shut down your computer immediately. Now. Your motherboard probably has an intel chip or patent on it. Good luck with that boycot.
Actually a lot of people on TL build their own computers (me included). It's not hard to boycott Intel.
Read my post again. It says "an intel chip or patent". That means A chip, not exclusive to CPU. And believe me, intel has patents running all over your homebuild computer.
Intel also makes motherboard chipsets, network interface controllers and integrated circuits, flash memory, graphic chips, embedded processors and other devices related to communications and computing.
1652 patents to Intel Corporation, headquartered in Santa Clara, California
in 2010 alone.
It would be really difficult to making a computer Intel free. Thats like making a vegan menu with KFC ingredients.
itt self righteous people overreacting to some random caster bming on bnet
We should be making fun of orb for being immature and quite frankly stupid as fuck but demanding any kind of sanction is not the role of the community, we all know that this kind of witch hunt/mob mentality is flat out terrible and thus EG/bnet mods are the only ones that should have a say on how to handle the situation/possible sanctions.

People like you make me hope StarCraft 2 dies. Soon.
Honestly, this. If someone raged on the ladder in BW or in WC3, nobody would give a fuck. SC2 really needs to be taken down a peg so we can shed this illusion of "professionalism" that the killjoys around here seem to be perpetuating.
There's a difference between playing sc2 for shits and giggles like you and I do and being a professional caster associated with a big team. I am not so much appalled by the usage of the word as I am by 1) the lack of judgment he displays knowing that he is now a public figure in the sc2 community and 2) more lack of judgment with his desperate lies to cover up.
If you make a living out of doing something and you want to continue down that path, you need to learn to behave professionally. For a caster, that means that you can't do or say whatever the fuck you want and not some type of repercussions to go with it. If that doesn't suit his tastes, Orb is still free to go back to casting his own shows.
On March 09 2012 08:40 AdrianHealey wrote: Here is what Orb should have said: 'Racial slurs are bad. However, I am not a racist. I just have a bad temper on ladder. I will try to behave, but it ain't easy.'
Raging is not a crime.
Crime? Who said anything about throwing him in jail? And then you say TL is overly dramatic over nothing, ah the irony.
I was using the word crime in a more colloquial sense. I am sure you can understand.
I wonder if anyone remembers all the drama that happened when Kobe Bryant mouthed the word faggot after being frustrated with being called for a foul. He was all over the media, tons of people hating on him, he got fined like $50k, and had to issue a public apology on national television. This is taken seriously, especially when there are people giving you money to represent them. The things he does are a direct representation for the people who he...well represents.
Orb constantly exibits this behavior, lies about it, apologizes only when he's caught, and there's people saying that it's not big deal? Lol, honestly I'm more suprised by the fact that people are surprised by this...Orb is a tool, i thought everyone knew that. Watch his stream and half the time he's raging and the other half he's talking about doing drugs. He's an immature fail of a person who should never have been picked up by EG in the first place. I honestly can't believe they picked him up as a caster, I didn't even know about it until now.
Playing games on ladder is a personal matter, not a public matter, and should not be in any way related to what you do in your esports professional activities, because it's not a professional activity in itself. Obviously Orb is nether racist, nor homophobic, he just reaches for whatever derogatory word comes to mind when he wants to offend a stranger on the ladder.
The further accusation of him "trying to cover it up", I have no idea if it's true, but seriously if it was true - it's also not that shocking. Orb has a history of being very vulnerable to personal accusations, to the point that he really becomes extremely defensive and loses his calm.
Above all, Orb is the best single (non-tandem) SC2 caster in the world; his style of casting is very polished and professional, his understanding of the game and in-depth analysis is at the level of only Artosis and active progamers. He is a very intelligent person, with the odd flip-side that he can be verbally offensive on ladder. That part about him is not new, he's always been famous about it, and people have been teasing him about it since beta. It complements perfectly his otherwise highly professional behavior, and frankly is just a personal matter of his, and shouldn't be for the public to control.
Why hasn't Orb made an apology thread yet? This community forgives anyone for anything as long as someone makes an apology thread with a very big post.

Woah bro, you must venture onto the internet very often.
yea. calling someone a "dumb nigger" is about as common a word as "Dude" on the internet...lol
*uses a knife to decapitate a serbian soldier*
BUT I SAW IT ON THE INTERNET LIKE A HUNDRED TIMES
god i love when people play this game. just go to all of the extremes here because you know your argument is futile. also, THIS WAS ALSO ON THE INTERNET. maybe if beheading people happened everyday in the USA, then it would be pretty normal. but here is what is normal: calling someone on the internet a nigger. it happens every-single-day, probably every single minute. it's called not being a moron. i'm awaiting your eagre response.
Just because it happens frequently does not mean it is acceptable.
Is it acceptable for me to saying "you're a fucking asshole and are completely skilless" when I lose the game? I would bet you dollars to donuts that if Orb had said this, nobody would have cares, which makes this very much an issue of misguided self-righteousness rather than wanting some utopia of politeness.
Sure it is okay to rip on me as a player, as we are playing the game. It isn't okay to use racial slurs as an insult. Whether it is in a country/community/head/clan/wherever, it doesnt mean it's okay in the rest of the world.
Why do people spend so much time to ruin it for others?
I guess to "legitimize e-sports" haha... pathetic really I'd say.
Give him a slap on the wrist and he wont do it again I'd bet (certainly not now when he's involved with EG). I previously thought the shit with Katu was justified but honestly people overreact waaaaaaay too much to these kind of caster topics. Everybody are just thinking of "legitimizing e-sports" as if they'll suddenly be gone tomorrow if we keep having Orb as a caster, which he's pretty damn good at.
