Doctors are professionals. They have certain pre-determined sets of rules and ethics that need to be adhered to, and thus the word "professional" here actually means something more than just "a person who does something for a living". Just because "professional gamer" has the word "professional" in it, doesn't mean Orb is a fucking professional. He's a "professional gamer" in the sense that he plays games for a living, however it does not qualify him for anything more. Orb fucked up, there's no doubt about that especially considering his relationship with EG, but please get real and don't bring up that "gamers are professionals and thus should adhere to principles/ethics and have the responsibility to grow E-sports etc etc" bullshit. He's just a dude who plays games for money who failed to considered the consequences of his actions. Simple as that. Edit: On March 09 2012 11:15 Dont-Panic wrote: It's not about professionalism. It's about people with too much time doing everything to ruin someones life while feeling like moral authorities. Exactly, but most people just bandwagon the drama; they don't even fucking truly understand what professionalism is and just throws the word around.

So how about you people stop fantasizing about what kind of "community" you've really built. Have you watched destiny's stream? People say he's some badass who says what ever the fuck he wants. I've been watching him for a long time now and I can't recall a time where he's used race to insult someone. It's usually along the lines of your mother should be ashamed, your birth certificate is actually a letter of apology etc. And even then its been toned down soooo much now that hes on a team. Everyone just thinks that because he went on and defends the n word on sotg(or w/e it was) he says it everyday...when i've never heard him say it unless he was talking about the use of it. edit: and people say this isn't a issue. But anything the community sees as a issue is a issue. As long as it upsets them so much that they will stop supporting x team/y product because of the issue teams are going to take it seriously no matter how big or small it is(remember when there was a big thread about profanity that some casters used). If the community thought saying the word noob was a disgraceful thing and anyone who said was a vile evil person and they would boycot teams who supported players/casters who said it. You can bet the team will take action against the player/caster... IF there is actual backlash from the community(boycoting resulting in reduced viewership etc etc).

No it's about professionalism. If he gets away with crap like this it sets a precedent for other players to get away with crap like this. Thus eSports looks childish and unprofessional and will have a harder time being taken seriously. Further more, Orb could have confessed and apologized instead of try to refute what were legitimate claims. He handled it childishly. All he had to do was confess and admit he made a mistake and there would be none of this.

Anyway it didn't take long for him to start raging about how imbalanced the game was, someone in his chat said David Kim is a faggot, then he responded "thats right, david kim is a faggot!" or something to that effect. I turned his stream off because i can't stand whining, not because of his language. I am not gay, so i am not offended if someone says faggot, and im not black so im not offended if someone says nigger, and reading through the reddit post and seeing all the righteous indignation makes me sick, because i would bet all the money in my wallet that the vast majority of the people waving their pitchforks don't actually care about his language, they just see blood in the water and want to feel righteous for a while.

Will be punished? Who are you to use such an affirmation? Do you know anything about disciplinary rules? (hint : not a real question, your very post says you don't) This thread is a compilation of uneducated and hateful comments. It is indeed outrageous to see people act as if they were remotely concerned when they clearly are not. This is worst than Sparta, Sadness.
