Is it the far higher skill level he has than any of those players or the much longer list of accomplishments that makes him unworthy?

smart business move from GOM; also, gonna be sick to see Stephano tear up GSL, gogo

This is a marketing move You cant actually determine he is not worth it either. Therefore, by inviting him, they boost their viewership, which is good for ALL gsl fans, including those who dont like this fact. That's exactly what I just said. Well good then, we are agreeing on this topic, cause it seemed to me it was said in negative light. No, no, people just don't realize that this is a marketing move by GOM. We're not all ignorant to this. You haven't realised anything special. They want to offer seeds, good move by them, but you can't realistically argue Stephano is someone not deserving of it.

Can we get a better OP? 3 words + a link to a french article is hardly acceptable?

"Hey, I'm gonna go to another country to try and compete in the biggest tournament of the world. I just have to make it through a thousand rounds of qualifiers, which means that no matter how good I am, I'll probably not gonna make it with my first or even second try." If people aren't willing to make sacrifices then they shouldn't call themselves pro gamers Unless Norway is much more accepting of "professional gaming" than most(all) other countries, you'll realise such a statement is absurd. For every Stephano/IdrA, there are a thousand people who tried their hand and failed/make less than minimum wage. i dont call myself a progamer
But you seem to be governing rules by which a player has the right to declare himself a progamer, while suggesting living a very uncertain(stupid) lifestyle by travelling across the world to try to qualify for one tournament is commitment.

Kas and Select had never won a big offline event.

A better question would be if YOU are kidding ME. I don't disagree with you on the marketing move part, but to imply that Stephano is not at a Code S skill level is either incredibly biased, uninformed or downright ignorant, we all know that Stephano has said multiple times in the past that he does not wish to compete in the GSL which was probably the biggest factor in his lack of a seed. Seeing as he announced a small while ago that he wasn't going to study, maybe now he does want to play GSL, we'll wait and see, GOM is sure as hell chancing it tho by the looks of it.
If you don't disagree with what I said, then why are you replying with stupid stuff such as "Not sure if trolling?" You obviously didn't understand what I wrote, and you are implying that I'm either biased, uninformed or ignorant because you don't agree with me. No matter, you don't have to, because whether or not you agree with me won't change the fact that this is primarily a marketing move made by GOM to attract western viewers. It's nice that you disagree with me, but implying that I'm implying silly stuff is.. well, silly.

ROFL, ROFL, ROFL, ROFL, ROFL
He just beat polt to win his last major tournament... you know, the previous GSL super tournament champion?

But if i had to choose someone, Stephano is clearly the first choice. I agree with this. I believe that even Naniwa also said in a recent interview that he disagreed with the premise of merely giving away Code S seeds, although he also said (quite rationally) that since he was being offered one, he would be stupid to turn it down. I suppose inviting Stephano all the way into Code S would increase the number of viewers and strengthen any bonds forged between mutual sponsors and tournaments working together (especially the foreign fanbase), but there's really no reason why all players who hypothetically are Code S material shouldn't be able to make it in from the ground up (through qualifiers). Regardless, since he's being offered one, I hope he accepts. It's always nice to see how well the best foreigners measure up to the GSL competition, and Stephano's certainly established himself everywhere else except for the premier tournament. Nowhere to go but Korea now. The reason is time. I have no doubt that Stephano could work himself up towards code s or at least do decently in code a but since the gsl runs for like 2 months at a time it's a very narrow margin and he or anyone that plans to do this have to devote a considerable amount of time in Korea to give themselves a decent chance. Many of the current top players spent a lot of time in code b or code a before they really broke out even though the skill might have been there as proven by their results in other tournaments. Maybe some think this is fair and how it should work but it's very unforgiving for players going there on their own, living maybe in the gom house, lacking team-mates and practise partners, which is obviously not the best receipt for success. I honestly doubt Naniwa would be where he is atm if he wouldn't have Sase to rely on. That said, I'm split in how I feel about these invites but as long as they have them I think Stephano is a very good choice. For most foreigners it simply is not worth to go unless you are seeded. But when everything is said, i wouldnt mind if there was some sort of foreigner qualifier for a code S/up and downs seed instead of randomly choosing a popular foreigner

So... no Korean player is a pro gamer? Makes sense to me!

good for him, but why? i mean its not like he won an mlg or something like that. I think there are a lot of other hard working koreans who deservers it more than him.

I like the players you mention but you'd be hard-pressed to argue they are more deserving based on tournament results and even though they are all popular players they are hardly more popular than Stephano.
