I'm a little bit confused about how SC2 WoL accounts will carry over into HotS. I bought extra games because I wanted to ladder as each race and have more than one account, for trying out new things with my mainrace without tanking my main rank, stuff like that. Those games (accounts) are 60 dollars a piece in a store.
Obviously I want to play HotS, but since it is an "expansion", I would expect to pay for only ONE copy of HotS and be able to play on all my accounts from WoL, since Inalready paid for them. I would obviously be very upset if I have to buy 3 more copies of HotS as well.
So how will this work? Does anyone know? Will 1 copy of HotS cover all my accounts, or did I completely blow a good chunk of money and will have to buy the extra accounts all over again? Tbh, that would seem REALLY unfair.
I'm sure quite a few other here on TL have multiple accounts, so this should pertain to a lot of people. I'm hoping someone can help me out and give me an answer on this issue.

Keep dreaming mate, you'll need to buy HoTS for each copy of WoL you have. Don't worry though, I have 3 copies as well
|
Nope, but in HotS there will be unranked ladder so I guess you should use that instead of buying 3 expansions.
|
Ummm... I don't know if it's ever been officially said, but I assume you'll need one HotS purchase for each account you want to upgrade. I honestly don't know why you think that because it's an expansion it'll cover multiple accounts. Those accounts are completely separate. As far as Blizzard is concerned, they might as well be owned by different people.
|
Blizzards policy has been 1 expansion to 1 account, so you'd definitely will have to buy 3 HoTS copies.
|
I think you would need to buy one HOTS expansion for every account.
However HOTS will feature unranked ladder which means you can offrace there, So i guess one account will do.
I also have another WoL account which i ladder as random with but I'm not buying two HOTS... ^^

I didn't even think about this...derp.

I assume that it will carry over but I think you'll need to buy a HOTS for every account.

Yeah, I don't know where you got the idea that buying the expansion once is supposed to give you access to HotS across all your accounts. It's never worked that way for any other Blizzard game, or any game from any other company AFAIK.
And yeah as stated above, Blizzard wouldn't have a way of verifying if the accounts belong to the same person anyways.

At least there is going to be global play in HoTS so you can use the other accounts as smurfs.
|
I thought you were allowed 1account in each region with HOTS anyway. Why buy 3 copies if you can have 3 accounts with one game.
|
It's almost like Blizzard knew we would buy multiple copies to have a number of accounts. Thanks Blizzard.

Personally I feel that if you have enough money to BUY 3 copies of WOL, money is not really an issue for you and you probably have enough for 3 HOTS. People please stop whining. This topic is pretty common sense.

HOTS will allow you to offrace without repercussions to your ranked ladder ranking. So you don't have to worry about getting a hots expansion exclusively for your other 2 accounts.

This is probably the case. In Diablo 3 you can switch between regions at will (although you can't use the real money auction house outside of your home region)

It would be silly to try and implement one expansion per individual rather than per WoL account. I mean how would they do that? Someone could easily just buy another WoL account and insist that it's for themself but give it to a friend once it receives the content from HotS.
|
Didn't Blizz say that HotS will support global play? So you buy one copy and play different race in each server.
It's not the best solution but at least it reduces the amount of new accounts you would have to buy
|
Prepare to be upset Yeah I don't know where you got the notion that you bought multiple accounts but only had buy the expansion for one of them. Sorry. Would recommend gifting or selling the extras.
|
I also have another account for my main race for different styles, and a mainrace smurf. I guess I'm going to have to buy 3 copies of HotS just for my main, but no more since I can offrace in the unranked ladder. This was the first Blizzard game for me, so I was just unaware. That's crazy, I thought it was an expansion and not a full game? Will it be priced as a full game? I thought not . . .
And I didn't really have a strong notion either way, I feared what you guys were saying was the truth, but I had a bit of optimism because I didn't know. I guess I'll have to re-buy my KR/TW account as well . . .

No that logic doesn't work at all. Maybe you don't have very much money but SC2 is something you really enjoy and so you put your money into it, like people do with clothing or cars.
Personally my biggest issue with the game isn't that you pay for 3 games for 3 accounts- its that you have to buy the game over and over again for each server. That's buying 4-5 games for HotS for many pros and a few mapmakers.
