But now I can't be angry at MLG! Curse you OP for taking away my e-anger!

Thanks man.You saved my thread and along with it esports as a whole

Yeah said the same things in the other thread and also posted Adam's picture. Most important I wish people would wait until after we've experienced the whole event before complaininng. Now this MLG already has a bitter taste before it started, parts of this community are ruining a potentialy great event for themselves and others by being so negative in my opinion. Well I will stay hyped and am looking forward to it!

Another pointless thread, congrats.
FYI the LoL area does look bigger, so very misleading title...again
If people would just drop this it would simply go away, but you keep making a bigger deal out of it, I don't get it.

Keep in mind the SC2 community is basically an insecure person with self esteem issues. We need to be constantly reassured that we're still pretty.

sometimes i feel like people want sc2 to start dying just so they can be mad about something MLG is gonna be awesome sc2 is awesome everyone calm down

yeah I know.I have seen this attitude among many posters."sc2 is dying lol has 2 billion viewers, dota 2 ,cod, wot, pokemon, simcity 2 already have 4 billion viewers".Too much depression among certain posters.

LoL area is wider, because the booth layout of 5 vs 5 makes for a wider area in general, but the # of rows is less = same # of seats.
As someone who's been to MLG Anaheim plenty of times, the layout changes they've made this time, just makes it easier to balance the # of chairs everywhere. The SC2 area looks as big as it ever has, the only difference is not being in the center column and not having a huge walkup stage like before, but it seems none of the games have them now so it's an overall change.
|
And this is why we don't start shit because some random guy tweeted something (even if that random g uy is incontrol). I ever get why the gaming community in generell is so quick to jump to conclusions, I guess patience is a rare virtue nowadays.

hope this will be a nice event!

I'm saying this wasn't something that was worth one thread, let alone two. For someone who was asking the other thread to be closed I thought you had the same idea, but for some crazy reason I must hate sc2 because I didn't bother to count rows in a picture that is almost level with the chairs (I would love to see how you count the rows in that sc2 area pic) making it difficult to distinguish how many rows there are. Based on the pictures, the LoL area does look bigger, and because (as the other guy points out) it's wider...so it is likely bigger...what a shock and who the fuck cares lol
As I said before if you would stop making a big deal out of this, it would go away...and as I said in the other thread, if you want something to bitch about then bitch about the prize pool.

1.Maybe someone form MLG reads teamliquid and might be upset if his company put on a good effort to assure us good conditions and we are just insulting them. This also coming from months of receiving flack because of wcs am.I really believe mlg should receive some credit sometimes and praise when it does something good instead of just flack when it dores something bad. Also letting that thread grow would be a mistake since a lor of people might get the wrong impression.MLg is a good company which helped the popularization of sc2 in the na scene a lot. 2.Why would I bitch about the prizepool?Due to the wcs blizzard capped the prizepool for all tournaments.even if they wanted to give out more they could not.I would much rather bm blizzard than mlg ffor that one.

So if all stages are the same, why does the title say sc2 gets the best one? Just saying...
|
Just take a step back, enjoy the event and let's hope for great games!
Whether they play in front of 10 people or 10.000 people, I will enjoy the games either way.
Also somewhat funny how Geoff was almost involved in another "doomsday" moment. He really likes those it seems. :-/
|
well this is another moment of incontrol misinforming the community type thing. Hope he doesnt take to much flak for it, hes been doing well recently!
Maybe he wanted to underhype us and when the real information came out we'd be way hyped! well played geoff, well played.

I am pretty sure that each game gets their own hall in the convention center since there are separate passes for each game so each game is separate from each other.

this is much bigger than dreamhack summer which was still big enough.

This doesn't surprise me... Again its like mlg Dallas was. Sc2 and LoL had the left and right sides, with the middle taken up by casters. Seems like CoD Is there now, which doesn't bother me
coach park to win it all!

You are right. That actually worries me a bit. Will sc2 fans be able to fill up all of them?Would be pretty funny if we moaned about too few seats and we can not fill them all.

If the crowd justifies the amount of seats I see there, I'll be a happy camper. I've been quite vocal and critical of MLG recently, but based on these pictures I have no problem with the size of the stage.

Booo stop killing esport drama and pitchfork

League of Casuals and Call of Kiddy as main-games is a terrible sign for real esport-games like SC2 or SSF. MLG basically says: "Casualgames make us more money, so get the fuck out SC2!"

If people would just drop this it would simply go away, but you keep making a bigger deal out of it, I don't get it. LoL area is wider, because the booth layout of 5 vs 5 makes for a wider area in general, but the # of rows is less = same # of seats. As someone who went to MLG Anaheim last year, I know for a fact this is a lot less seats. There was probably close to twice as many seats last year, and they were all full during the games everybody wanted to watch. The thing is, everybody was kind of upset with MLG after WCS AM, MLG didn't announce SC2 at Anaheim until very late and with a reduced prize pool. So of course less people are going to go spectate, as less progamers are going to be there playing.

Uh.. what? You're an embarrassment to the SC2 community. Just because SC2 isn't the main focus and main event at tournaments doesn't mean shit. Esports as a whole has grown so much so fast, and it wouldn't have been possible without the addition of other games attracting a larger audience. Stop the "my game is better, so it deserves more" bullshit and grow up.

Even if SC2 got the smallest stage, it'd be warranted. Small prize pool, thrown together tournament due to MLG having to host WCS NA, and tons of other factors. It's similar to how SC2 actually was close to/beat League of Legends last event, mostly due to the fact that League only had a thrown together four team international tournament and then some forgettable amateur matches, while SC2 had the first HotS tournament with the most stacked 32 man bracket we had ever seen. This time around, League has LCS at MLG Anaheim, and SC2 are the ones "taking the tournament off" by having a less than star studded tournament with the tiniest prize pool in two years.

i don't get incontrol. Even if it is true what he heard. Why would you leak information that someone told you in confidence? If you have friends like that you don't need enemies i guess. I agree with you on this and even more.In terms of SC2 MLG vs LOL MLG sc2 actually beats lol since in the lol proscene right now is basicly just lcs and riot is using MLG and Dreamhack just for the venue and nothing else.MLG at its core is an international tournament which accepts players form all over the world and sc2 mlg keeps close to that tradition hence the person who wins this mlg actually can claim to be the mlg champion. The riot tournament on the other hand is just lcs and has nothing to do with mlg but the venue. This is sort of the equivalnet of an american soccer team renting a baseball stadium for a match and the winning team claims to be the mlb champions.Wrong.The football teams that wins wins only that football match not the entire baseball major league championship. And i have hear a lot of people pretty upset at riot about not being able to organize other tournaments. For example at dreamhack this year the actual lol dreamhack was between a turkish team and some unknown european team.Although riot had their entire european casting team at that even they only sent rachel seltzer to do the entire job although she is not even a riot employee. And they programmed the entire dreamhack matches in the morning where about only 60k people watched them.I do believe blizzard is doing a better job than riot in this regard. At least sc2 still has reputable tournaments such as dreamhack and mlg that keep the international tradition of sc2 afloat.Riot is being too dictatorial for its own good.

What race does Park play, by the way? The manly race? Edit/ Nevermind. It appears he plays Terran.
Yes, so clearly he will hellbat drop his way to MLG victory.

"Lol although having a bigger crowd gets the same number of seats of sc2."
Never happened in history of MLG, and won't happen now.

I swear, I never understood how tabloids got so popular but every now and then I look into the SC2 community, see people like me staring back at me and then I see the kind of filth that gets spread over the internet and realize that some people just can't help themselves. Its so true. The kids come out of the woodwork, cry about LoL, which is a fine, fun game. Cry about CoD, which is a fine, fun game. And then they cry there isn't a sign made by MLG that says "CoD and LoL are games for children, but we keep them here because dumb people like them. Now, SC2, that's a MAN'S game. And MANLY games go on the biggest stage!" Seriously, Dreamhack didn't have SC2 on the biggest stage. Where is the rage thread for that? I'm glad there wasn't any. There's enough of it as is. ~_~ Just pointing out that the only reason this happened is because everyone loaded up on the MLG hate train. This never would have happened to Dream Hack or IEM. Just MLG, because people just love to hate on them.
I could think of several other reasons -.^ but I wouldn't deny that. IEM's space is pretty similar when it comes to their group stage as DH and I'm sure there could have been some grievance there with certain angles.

MLG basically says: "Casualgames make us more money, so get the fuck out SC2!" league at least gets a shitload more viewership than sc2 if the seating and stages are the same size and quality mlg is throwing us a bone, from a practical point of view.
Hey idra been a long fan of you
but I think you are exagerating with the lol number size.Lol got that many viewers approx 500k-to some say 1mil last season in season 2.This year on the other hand they have been struggling at around 200k on major tournament stream numbers.Which is still twice what sc2 has but over time I think it will get better. And also lols only major tournament is lcs.sc2 has a bit an advantage over that since we actually have international tournies other than the premier league and wcs controlled events. What I can not contest and you are right about is that in terms of casual stream numbers they do get a lot more than sc2.Actually a lot more.A lot of lol streamers get like 20k-30k viewers even if they are not top pros. But strictly restring outserlves to tournaments sc2 aint doing bad at all.
Anyways it would have been fun if you were competing.GL in your new casting career.

Yeah, check Coach Park's twitter feed, from about 12 hours ago. Well, I guess that's still his most recent tweet
