As always, this is going to be a controversial thread, but i am really interested in what happened to sAviOr. All i know is that he was actually streaming and playing on afreeca along with all the others when the "new" korean bw proscene emerged. However he has had trouble getting into tournaments since he is still hated everywhere it seems.
So, what does he do now? Is he still playing? Can i find his stream? Is there even a slight chance he will ever be able to participate in future tournaments? With SC:R and the new ladder system he might be more prominent than officials would want him to be. As far as i know he is still one of the best players around after all these years.
What's your stance?

he is banned from streaming BW on Afreeca (along with other matchfixers like hwasin) after the sc2 matchfixing scandal emerged last year that caused a public backlash.
last i heard he was living a comfy life as a chaffeur driver for rich clients

Will he be banned in Remastered as well?

lol i did that once when i was in korea, an interesting experience to say the least. would laugh if one day i did it again and savior was my driver.

As Probemicro said, hes currently working as a chaffeur. He tried to stream but got banned from streaming ANY game on afreeca. Currently he only streams himself on camera.
He tried to stream on a couple other platforms too, just that they were banned almost immediately due to reports and Kespa taking action.
Tbh, it serves him right in that everything about this guy was fucked up. Iris talked about savior on stream, more like a rant but when they were both on CJ savior basically had no friends because his personality was so shitty. He called him a sly, arrogant bastard who will just use you to get whatever he needs, and you can pretty much see that in what he did with brokers along with the matchfixing scandal (lots of players actually didnt profit much from the matchfixing, savior did ). While members were practicing he was the only one wasting time on other entertainment stuff (said he was meeting girls instead of practicing bw).
The age culture being strong in Korea if you were of younger age you would have to greet people of older age respectfully. Well, he straight up ignored greetings from other students and the like. No one liked him at CJ.
It makes sense too. Savior put a hell of a final blow on the death of Broodwar in Korea and he still, STILL! tries to stream broodwar. He knows better than anyone that hes banned, but he doesnt realize hes the scum of the earth by the broodwar fans that were there. Had he any respect left for Broodwar community he should stop trying. But nope, he wants to stream. he wants to open up a shopping mall. He wants to use the popularity that he once had (which is twisted af in the sense that he blew it all up by matchfixing) , and he sued a lot of people for making remarks about matchfixing as well.
By the way, DarkElf was promised $5K for his matchfixed game. Savior took $3K from the profit and never said shit.

Wait even Twitch? not sure about twitch, but Kespa might have taken an action already on banning him, and will do if he does in the future. thats what ive read on the fomos forums

I will always remember savior for what he did for the game, despite the few games he did fix pre-2009. After that time though. Yeah. No respect.
I had a really good interaction with him, from my point of view at least, at Blizzcon 2008. He had just gotten done with the semi-finals. I had a bunch of leftover mana potion energy drinks that I had won at WCG 2008, I gave him a couple. He drank one right there on the spot and gave me a thumbs up and said thank you. Made my DAY.
So take that as you will.

RIP saviors 3 hatch muta.

But to be fair.... Jessica and Boxer have their own... flaws as well. As Incontrol mentioned in his 3 video overview. The blackmailing they did to NASL, I can only imagine what other things they've done.

The thing with savior that I find hard to understand is that he was a minor when that shit happened, right? The guy was banned from pro bw for life, which is fair, but then he keeps getting punished more and more for something he did as a minor? Come on.. I was as much of an idiot when I was 15 or 16 as anybody else
|
Ok I just checked he wasn't a minor. It's still fucked up to keep increasing the guys punishment imo. Even if you kill someone and get 10 years of jail you don't stay there 10 years and then they say 'yeah but what you did was fucked up so you stay 10 more now', and thats murder! But god forbid the guy fixed some matches

I have an experience similar to Psyonic Reaver's with Savior from Blizzcon 2009. I don't think I've ever had the opportunity to share it, but I think it would be fun to do so now.
Savior and the rest of the Korean progamers show up to a community Q&A session that was mostly TL people I believe. About 70-100 people in a conference hall at the Hyatt if I'm not mistaken. After some fun interviews and random questions with prizes, we all head to the back of the room for refreshments. Incontrol gives Savior a shot and they take it together, and Savior obviously looks like he did not enjoy it lol. He asks for a beverage to wash it down with (this is a liberal use of the word "ask" since he knew about 0 English words, it was more like gesticulating). It was my time to shine. I had mixed a vodka and grape soda beverage that I hadn't touched yet, and I tap him on the shoulder and offered it to him. He doesn't acknowledge me as a person whatsoever in his rush to wash down the demon liquor Inc had fed him. He takes a few big gulps, looks at the drink, then shoots me the most withering look haha. I recently saw a YouTube video of the events leading up to this. It was a childish thing to do but to 19 year old me, it was hella funny. He did sign my TL winged horse shirt earlier though, so that was nice. Got signatures from SkyHigh, Effort, Savior, and Nada on the back, and from foreign pros on the front like Inc, Idra, and Machine as well as a few others. Shirt still hangs in my closet and I look at it fondly from time to time
Anyway, Savior can be lauded for his contributions to the game in a vacuum and demonized for the detriment he brought to the scene. In short, fuck Savior and I hope he never gets the opportunity to play an esport ever again. Harsh stance to take for someone who has also had a shady past in this game, but a fair one considering the fallout.
