The ultimate intuitive can-opener hotfix to ZvZ.
Consider making a 4th damage and armor type, Bile and Light respectively. Hydralisks have a new Bile-type attack which has the same properties as explosive damage, but just twice more against new light armor type units (only the Mutalisk has this type).
Both are exclusive only to the Hydralisk and Mutalisk, this would open up ZvZ strat a lot. Consider also that lurkers can halt the advance of zerglings and hydralisks because of slow overlord detection.
Light armor type units retain all the properties of small units as well, just that they receive an additional double damage from Bile type units.
So basically hydralisks (10 damage with this change) would be like perma-stimmed marines (6 damage) with more hp, and since drones have less hp it makes sense because they die to mutas too quick in ZvZ. This is just the right amount of damage to ground ZvZ just a tad bit.
Also, marines have medics as well, hydras comparatively don't which balances out their higher hp.
This is actually very intuitive, the only way, and I figured this original idea works best. This will be my final post on this subject. Hopefully, this can get out there if the community so deems it popular, if not so be it. I just wanted to get this out there because it would be so cool if people realized just how intuitive it was in the end, you can delete, moderate, or even ban me for this 3rd post but I had to say something about this because it seems such an obvious perfecting concept. It works for team games as well. The only thing it would affect is existing UMS maps.
Adding new units probably is not a good idea to BW, but if someone one day comes up with a new unit to add to maintain the 3 armor/damage types. So be it. It might be a better idea than this one, but until then...

ZvZ is balanced. However, something is not necessarily fun or has enough depth because it is balanced. Take Tic-Tac-Toe for instance.

How frequently are they used though, I think very rarely except at the lowest ranks. That speaks volumes as to the state of ZvZ. I main Terran as of now, so I don't know Zerg that well, this is why I'm asking seriously.

Naughts and crosses is balanced with perfect play. With C- level naughts and crosses players and below, i.e. 5 year olds, the naughts have the advantage because they go first.
