When I met him he called me a dick. And it was awesome. + Show Spoiler + Thanks for being someone worth looking up to, TB. You've been an inspiration for working hard, never giving up, and fighting for what you believe in. You taught me a lot over the years just by being yourself and providing an example of how to live a good life.

I'm heartbroken about the most recent news. I cannot imagine this happening to anyone and feel terrible that he has to suffer like this, but hope that the rest of his time can be enjoyable with his family and not have to worry about too many deadlines and stress. He alone changed my perspective on how I look at games and how I personally critique and analyze media, and has been a cornerstone in the gaming industry, especially Starcraft. No one in the general gaming industry has carried the flag for Starcraft like TB has, always wearing his SC2 hat on the Co-Optional podcast weekly and even on the H3 Podcast, running Axiom, and just being a very influential figure in our scene and in the gaming sphere overall. The industry will hurt when he is gone. I don't think anyone will fill the void that he leaves behind, but hopefully one day we can look back on him and remember someone who changed the landscape of game criticism and consumer rights in gaming permanently. I wish him the easiest of journeys going forward, and hope that a miracle can come true for him. My well wishes to him, Genna, and his family through this time.

TB, you're so incredibly strong (or maybe stubborn). You are an inspiration for everyone. I can't think of a more respected individual in the gaming community. You've done so much with such integrity. If the combined will of other people for you to live means anything, you'll be just fine.

TB is a pioneer, his videos and passion helped shaping, what would ultimately become Youtube gaming, years before let's plays were even a thing. I can't even imagine Youtube and Twitch without him... been watching the podcast ever since tgs and his WTF series for years. I'm in shock and heartbroken over this...

Apologies if this is too soon but I think a memorial/legacy Shoutcraft kings tournament would be a fitting way to pay respect for TB's massive contributions to SC2 and to create and perpetuate his legacy within the scene. Would be cool if TB got to see the first one. I would be willing to contribute $100 each year for 5 years (or as long as high-level competitive starcraft continues, whichever is shorter). Even if it was just a one-off thing, I think there would be enough community support to amass a decent enough prize pool. When I think about pros/casters/community+/-blizz all coming together for someone like TB gives me chills, the feels are real .

My God. Life can be such an endless chasm of sorrow. What a fucking hero this guy is for what he's done for the Starcraft community over the years and how he's dealt with his harrowing circumstances with grace and dignity. Thank you for everything you've done and for you being you Total Biscuit.

https://twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/992648465556606976 @Totalbiscuit Since it comes up quite a bit yes, I'm also retired from casting SC2. However, I am working on a solution to allow Shoutcraft Kings to continue, under the ownership and operation of a group of people I trust. Let it be known I cast until physically unable to do so, go tell the peoploe in 2010 that accused me of being in it for the money, they fucked up.

Just because it's games, it doesn't mean it's not an industry (with bad sides to address); just because it's 'games', things don't have to be childish and aesthetically appalling in a broader sense. Having a spine, being coherent, consistent and a stand-up person seems such a rare quality lately (publicly at least). I am totally in awe of his body of work, his professionalism and now also his personal composure. On that note, all the best wishes to you John & family. Thank you for everything TB, I'm glad to have been along for the ride since early on with all its ups, downs and rough edges. You are, and will remain, the first and most prominent person of our time when it comes to video game criticism and you set the bar incredibly high for anyone who came and will come afterwards. Even when I ignore the work you did in other areas there is enough to cherish in that context alone. There is enough around to cherish for everyone in all kinds of areas because you've just been so damn productive. If that's not a sign of having done an amazing job consistently over years then I don't know what is. Or, as someone else just put it: On May 15 2018 19:07 dicey wrote:Having a spine, being coherent, consistent and a stand-up person seems such a rare quality lately (publicly at least).
