I came down here and hoped to see a lot about the game, but there's barely anything.
What gives? With Liquid having (arguably, but IMO) the best NA team wouldn't think place be a hot spot?

I feel like it depends a lot on the TL userbase. Not many among them actually play or have an interest in CS:GO, and the activity of a subforum forum will depend on whether people that are already from the community actually care for the game. Also, there's reddit that fills the role of a CS:GO discussion's forum, towards which people will go rather than a forum they haven't heard of.

People who want to talk about Starcraft come here or Reddit. Why there is not much going on here? Well I guess there arent much people who mainly switched from Starcraft to CS:GO or are now equal in both games. And following this, people who switched from Starcraft to CS:GO went on to more populated sites, namely HLTV and the subreddit. While teamliquid has with the liquipedia the best source for CS:GO results (sorry HLTV), lineups and tournaments, it never forced itself into the scene, for example on the liquid most matches got links to HLTV match pages, HLTV interviews and so on. I guess there also alot of people who work on Liquipedia and HLTV at the same time. Being rather small has the good thing, that you dont miss the thread you follow and also can keep civil, good discussion about the games. Well, not always civil like you can see in the coach-thread, but mostly.

That being we're dealing with the best in NA, grandfinalists! And yeah being civil in the coach thread, is understandable (The ruling is so bad for the scene, so bad) And on HLTV, they're more popular IMO for matches because its so easily accessible, which in comparison Liquipedia isn't. When it comes to historics, it's way better.

Both sites have their advantage and disadvantages. Liquipedia is far more easier on the eye, but HLTV has a lot of depth in terms of results and stats since they have them. LP has the advantage that it can be filled with way older tournaments though, so there's also that. I guess LP would be better for the casual viewer and the broad picture, while HLTV is the way to go when you want actual stats and more info. Then, for the section to actually pick up some steam, it needs some curious people to be curious and register on TL.net.

the community section though is shared across all the different sites. for example, i'm viewing from liquiddota right now. however for all things Liquid and for editorials, you can check things out here: https://www.teamliquidpro.com why CSGO hasn't its own website? no clue, maybe it's not as popular or something or maybe it's in the works.

Meaning recent results, two clicks to find them in comparison where Liquipedia has to be updated and isn't always recent!

I always thought outsiders would confuse tl.net as a fan site for TL esports even though tl.net came before tl esports and editorially neutral.

LoL and Dota both had somewhere between 3 and 5 active forums for each before they got split. CSGO only has 1 and it's nowhere near as active as it needs to be for its own site. Which is a good rule. Liquidhearth gives a good example of that

It happened in the past for articles in the CS:GO section. I remember at least one time when some writer wrote up something about TL and a guy on reddit posted "damn, that's cool that the org is able to be critical of themselves like that" while it had nothing to do with the org. :>

Team Liquid the esports organisation is a pro team with its players, its supporting staff, etc. Team Liquid the community is a website that provide discussion forums, various coverages, articles, etc. That doesn't mean there's no connections, but there's different people working / doing stuff for each side (with some occasionally crossing the border), and the pro team actually sprung form the community/clan. TeamLiquid.net exists since 2001, while the pro team appeared around the release of SC2 IIRC.

Not sure it has worked out that great. not even remotely close to accurate
