bad rift is less bad if you dont backtrack. you should have an idea of the rift density pretty fast and adjust clear pattern accordingly
mobility is valuable in precisely this manner allowing you to skip more time spent traveling bad zones

Essentially this the game feels like. make new character, get to 70. play solo til you're geared enough to do split cache runs on normal. do split cache runs til you're geared enough to do t1 (in group or solo). then continue farming t1 rifts (in group or solo), if you can solo t1, you can probably do t2 in groups, and t3 if you have premade group with good monk tank. you continue this bit, until you have enough gear to solo t3-4 by yourself. This period of time is hugeeeeeeee, and that wall is sort of annoying to climb. I think there needs to be a more linear progression between difficulty and reward.

You can play a desintegrate and/or archon wizard with it. Desintegrate is just a better skill than meteor or heat wave for farming. I was using Arcane Torrent before but grew frustrated with the delay between click and damage so now I'm using desintegrate with the short cone rune (+ 15y passive damage buff). I'm trying to gather cooldown reduction gear too, to have archon almost permanent and a very quick teleport for faster farming time. Right now, what I'm frustrated with is that trying to do higher torments is just so unrewarding. Monster HP go up by like 50% but legendary drop only by 15%. It ends up making farming lower torments better if you have difficulty at higer levels. The problem doing that is it makes defensive skills pretty useless and the game pretty boring. Why can't they make getting up rift levels the purpose of the game ? So that taking a few defensives is worth it because even if it takes double the time to kill an elite pack, the reward is worth it... I don't know I have somewhat more fun kiting and using mirror image at the right time than simply stacking all damage buffs and then only using my right hand to spam desintegrate. But then the reward is terrible.

I'm not sure how you can you say the nerf was 'barely felt' lol. I felt it, a lot.

Maybe but that still doesn't change the fact that imo, the current design is just too much aimed toward easy farming rather than a more reasonable risk/reward. But I'm a guy that felt inferno difficulty was enjoyable (not the loot system though) so there's that :p

When I get good density, I stay until I full clear or until the guardian appears. Doing the former has resulted in me seeing the rift exit before spawning the guardian. I went back to earlier floors to get the last few percent needed.

A fair amount of the people in the guild are geared enough that split bounties on T1 is only marginally slower than on normal. We also tend to do rifts T2-T3, and I suspect that by May T4/T5 will start becoming a thing.
