CHECK OUT MY NEW SERIES FOR BLIZZARD ALL-STARS!
Website: http://www.Sixen.tv Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/Sixen Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/Sixen Schedule: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 3PM PST/6PM EST
Hello everyone,
If you haven't heard of the Diablo Daily before, my main goal is to inform the uninformed, entertain the veterans, and have some fun hacking n' slashing along the way. The structure of my show will vary from the pilot to post-release of the game.
The episodes' pre-release are all about covering game mechanics and systems. Through the release of the game, I covered a lot of lore/storyline and looked at quests/events/areas. After that point is where the real fun begins: Mondays are Build Discussion/Theorycrafting, Wednesdays are Fundamentals and Tips/Tricks, and then Fridays are for State of Sanctuary, a podcast-styled game analysis show with special guests. Also worth noting is the launch party stream I did, co-hosted by djWHEAT.
If you miss the show live, you can always watch the VOD, which is immediately uploaded afterward. Feel free to leave comments, questions, or concerns below. As always, I appreciate any and all feedback!

Great job today with the Artisans, it was really well done to see the transition between different development stages. For next time, I would want to see more research done on the topics because it seemed like a lot of the information you were talking about was purely from memory, with only a couple pages for support. I can only speak about the Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 parts, but when you mentioned the artisans you had originally only thought there was four levels, which you later corrected, but you should know that information initially.
On the whole though, I really enjoy where this is headed, regardless of whether or not the D3 development team balances the game for PvP, I feel you'll be at the forefront of community for casting and theorycrafting effective builds. Like the Day9 of Diablo 3
|
Cool. I will check it out soon . Do you put any of the videos onto youtube.com?

very fun and informative daily. cant wait until D3 comes out because that is when the daily will really get awesome! :D

I guess nice effort but seems kind of pointless. It's not like there's some competitive community to cover with D3 or any SUPAR SECRET PRO techniques that we need your help decyphering. It's a hack and slash RPG... I'd be surprised if you do more than like ten shows before you have nothing left to yap about.

Watching show # 1 right now because of this thread.
Probably won't be watching these live, but will catch up on them as I wake up each day.
|
I think you would be surprised.
Yes, it isn't as dynamic as Starcraft, but there are certainly a lot of intricacies to get the most out of your character.

Kinda agree here but I think that if you are good enough you can always branch out to different games. Playing Diablo you don't need to know much, you can play and get the LORE as you play and just google builds or whatever. But Ill defintley tune in and wish you all the best <3

ROFL! Just you wait until its released, I bet he gets to ten before its released, and then mass flood of information. I think lots of things will spread out the second that PvP is released and expansions are planned. Someone will be interested in D3 PvP and Sixen will be there for those people.

Episode 12 before it gets released is the plan, :D. Once PvP comes out, I'll certainly have plenty more to talk about. But until then, there will be vast amounts of PvE encounters (plus lore/storyline), build theorycrafting, and the Auction House.
I'm certainly not worried about running out of things to talk about. I can talk all day about Diablo, .

So who do you think the first boss will be in Act 1?
We already know 2-4... Act 2 - Belial Act 3 - Azmodan Act 4 - Diablo
My guess is the Mistress of Lust aka Mistress of Pain..Not sure though seems like she would be a good boss for Act 3 with Azmodan.
|
I would love to see an episode for each character talking about possible builds and such. I love that kind of thing and, although I mostly played and enjoyed the witchdoctor, I haven't decided on a certain class to start with and I don't have any particular build in mind.
Good stuff so far!

PvP in D3 is going to be terrible... Blizzard really don't care about it and have no intentions to make it competitive... and with MOBAs as big as they are, I think PvP in D3 will be played by few and have nothing in the sense of a competitive scene.
Just saying, if you're expecting the D3 PvP release to keep your show going, you're probably going to be disappointed.

Hopefully it gets popular enough that it can be featured on the TL calendar

Same answer to both questions.

Did D2 have a competitive PvP scene, especially one worth having a daily show about? Same answer to both questions. I'm not sure I really understand. "Blizzard doesn't care about it." Blizzard is making an entire arena and matchmaking system dedicated to PvP. What part of that says "We don't care about PvP?" As far as D2 goes, I would argue yes, there were competitive communities built around D2. Was it as large as SC1 or War3? Definitely not.
The show isn't dedicated to PvP, the show is dedicated to Diablo. PvP and PvE. Will I cover PvP? Certainly, because there will be a competitive scene built around it, regardless of whether or not Blizzard has any intentions in making it competitive.
But hey, I'm not here to debate whether or not PvP will become mainstream. I'm just here to help teach people the game and PvP is definitely a big part of Diablo, especially when looking at end game content.
|
I think the main problem with D3 and PvP is the balance issue. Blizzard do not have a dedicated balance team for D3 like they had on SC2. If it's not balanced, let's say one class is far superior to the others, it will not be competitive.. simple as that.
I don't think that's a big problem though. PvP can be something fun and cool to do either way, but I question the competitiveness.
|
I'll post this here as well..

Viable build is viable. That's what Diablo's all about, .
|
this is a great show and I cant wait for diablo 3 to come out. there is going to be so much build theorycrafting it will be awsome.
I was somewhat of a D2 veteran untill I stopped playing and I think this show is really appealing to veterans and new players. as I said it will become real interesting when the game is out and people start theory/build crafting.
as for the show, how flexible is the start time? I know 6 PM Est is 3 PM Pacfifc and alot of people still tend to be at work at that time of day(on the west coast), but for european's it works out kind of well. You might be able to get more viewership if you started an hour later. It's just a thought though.

Yeah, show times will likely change a bit post-release, once I get a little bit of a following. I'll likely be doing them a tad earlier, I'll try and come up with a time decent for EU viewers as well, .
Yeah, this is what I was citing in the the episode I did earlier today, . Crazy right?
|
what you could do is start later so you catch everyone in NA, and then re-broadcast(re-run) the diablo daily the next day at an earlier time for europeans.
How you would go about re-streaming your Vod, I do not know as im not an expert.
Kind of like What IPL and NASL do. or you could Run it earlier and do a re-broadcast right after.
Just some Ideas to reach out to a bigger audience

DJ wheat's shows are listed as an event on the team liquid calendar and so are Day 9's, is there a way you could somehow list your daily as an event so it's pop up on team liquid? (granted these event's pop up the day of usually)
Im not sure, but I think you would have to PM one of the mods/administrators on TL
this is just another Idea, hope I'm not overwhelming you with them.

you have alot of information to share on the dailies and alot to research and remember, and as this poster pointed out constructively, make sure your research is done. I think a great idea to help with this would be to simply put sticky notes of things you have a hard time remembering on your monitor as an aid and we wouldn't see any of these notes as viewers. you could aslo put reminders of things to cover on stickies.

Well Sixen to be honest your doing good contents yes. But the game your focusing on isn't even out yet. To be a featured stream requires some requisites to be met....right now I do not think your stream/show can be listed on the TL calendar as a event.
Perhaps waiting till D3 is out and you really get the show on the road & rolling, i think you will have a high chance of being listed

The game comes out in 9 days, so it'll be here soon enough, .

Hey Sixen, hopefully one day you can write a guide or do a shower on most popular viable builds and optimal builds for each classes. Of course it requires a lot of time and alot of work, but it would give a good idea to everyone. For me personally, I would want my barb to have the optimal build rather than viable builds. I would want my barb to deal with the most dmg as possible and to own in pvps. Maybe one day you can stream about that topic~~ Anyways keep up the good work my friend. Love your stream so far

Even though we know the monster stats, we are still in the dark on equipment scaling / drop rates. That will be the final puzzle piece in determining the true difficult of Inferno.
|
Jay Wilson "Inferno is balanced to never be trivial, even with the best gear available. If players find it trivial, Blizzard will be “paying attention”."
I do agree gear does play a part but to see the jump up on the health of the monsters. It is going to be interesting to see it how it works out. There are suppose to be 3 tiers of gear in inferno.

I am no expert but in diablo 2, andariel had 1k on normal, 24k on nightmare and 60k on hell. the nuch huger jumps in hp in the guide would suggest that Diablo 3 scales much more exponentially (like Wow did with its expansions) then d2 which was in my opinion, alot more closer to linear in terms of scaling( i.e 1 vit always gave 3 hp).
The numbers in this game will be vastly bigger than anything you would hope to ever have in D2 in terms of stats and raw dmg output.
|
Jay Wilson also stated that there is going to be more abilities on each mob then ever seen in Diablo series. Also abilities that are just for inferno due to how powerful they are and champion packs made for inferno exclusively.

I watched the first daily and a part of the second. As a hardcore Diablo 2 player, you're only telling me stuff I already know about (and probably more than you).
I was looking for interesting D3 mechanics explantions, like how parties work and how XP/loot is shared. Or other interesting ways to use class skills. I guess the daily isn't really for me?
And when the game comes out, I will be playing instead of watching a daily show. But maybe that's just me.
EDIT: On a more positive note, I really like your attitude and way of speaking. The stream quality and design is also great.

The first two episode were really basic, to be completely honest, geared for people who haven't really touched the game. Episodes 3 and 4 were more geared toward storyline/environment, so if you know all the Diablo lore or don't care for it, I suggest starting at Episode 5. Episodes 5+ are all about how D3 systems work and how they relate back to D1/D2 systems. I'd suggest catching a later episode and holding your judgement until then.
As far as playing instead of watching... I'm sure many people will be playing instead of watching. I'm hoping people put me on their second monitor, or take an hour break from the game to watch ever other day... Or catch up on the weekend, or whatever they choose! I'll be doing my shows as long as someone wants to watch, .

I listen to your show it is great. I just have a few questions for you...Which class are you going to play? Are you going to play with friends or solo? Are you going to play all the way through inferno with one character or you going to have character ADHD?
|
Don't you think Blizzard might be saving all of the best PvP modes for future expansions of D3?
They are doing that right now with cross server play and resume modes in SC2 :\
|
Going to make my girlfriend sit down and watch these so she can play Diablo 3 with me. She likes Torchlight ^.^
|
Wow Sixen, didn't know you post here. Glad to see you .

You should put a link to previous episode on your website, either a link to your stream (even when it isn't live) or your youtube channel.

I'm not sure if I'll co-op or Solo, I'll basically just wing it and see who is around when I'm trying to play, haha. My main goal is to complete normal ASAP, just so I can experience the story. So hopefully I'll be able to do that before I do my Wednesday daily, . I'll probably start one of each character at that point, maybe get them to level 10 or so, but I'll certainly work on getting my main (Wizard) to max level before I really start working on other characters. That way I can farm great gear and pass it on to my other characters.

They are doing that right now with cross server play and resume modes in SC2 :\ I'm hoping the Custom Game system (with more game modes) doesn't wait until an Expansion... But if I have to wait ~3 years for ~10 years of gameplay... I can survive, .

I'm going to try and convince my girlfriend to play D3 with me. I got her to come to BlizzCon 2009 with me, so she played it there and loved it... Shouldn't take much convincing, I hope, :D.

I'm for sure going pro on Diablo3 and i will achieve it. Blizzard holding PvP back is just ridicoulus imo. The community will succeed and get their way. Already starting a daily show? >_<

hey hey, been watching your shows and have to say they are great!
anyways, just a quick question for sixen and rest of the community, I've been looking in the auction house for items to beef up my dps. so dar I've just been looking at weapons boosting intellegince (im a wizard) however, the items don't seem that much better, I don't see how it will boost my dps to 30k+. I currently have 15k can get it to 20 with buffs.
do I look for items that give crit damage + chance? attack speed?
I want to boost my dps to new heights. Please help!
oh and btw, I've been farming like crazy!

oh and btw, I've been farming like crazy! A lot of it does indeed have to do with weapons, but you also have to keep in mind that you can stack int on the rest of your gear, as well as attack speed if it makes sense with your particular build... so keep that in mind as well.

Why do you show the MF runs on Hell? Is it meant to be on hell? Cause on Inferno it is pretty stupid to do it as you did cO
|
|
Lots of good info on the AH episode. Especially how to sell weapons. Going to have to call out the "no gold currency" statement. I know it"s a bit of a throwaway statement, but D2 wasn't much of bartering system either before you get all nostalgic for that. People found a way to create their own currency (SOJs, gems, etcs.) There has to be liquidity. People want that and that's why there was a cry to make gold valuable in D3 as opposed to D2. They will find a way to curb inflation. In WoW it was epic mounts. Maybe vendors randomly sell legendaries for a couple million gold or the price can be set weekly by some GM or it can dynamically pull a price from the AH. Either way it's a transaction between the NPC and player which will destroy gold.

So that's what Sixen looks like.
Should be sweet I might pick up a few tips. I'm still in nightmare Act 4.

Yeah, I agree with you, a no-gold currency would have been a little out there, and there certainly needs to be some kind of liquidity. It's certainly still interesting to think about though!

Sixen, if you haven't already, I recommend doing a daily based on "relatively affordable" gears to buy on the AH
Explain the "natural stat advantages" for each type of gear, and why they're cheaper on AH e.g. pants have high vit, shoulders have high str, gloves have high dex, boots have high dex, helm has high int, etc.
